29/06/2025: Enjoyed a nice pint of Carlsberg. The food smelt delicious and it was very busy so a great sign. Shame I had a late breakfast, so I was not hungry.

21/06/2025: Great spot for good food and easy-going atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and the salmon special with sun-dried tomato cream sauce was incredible. Will be returning her again

18/07/2025: Scholars Townhouse Hotel is a lovely listed property. The staff are excellent, and the period decor is beautiful and elegant. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was powerful. It is also located within walking distance of many shops and restaurants, but situated just outside of the centre, so it is very quiet and peaceful.

02/07/2025: Just to be very open and honest. The room's are tiny. The smallest room I have ever stayed in. If you can cope with it The rest was very good. Great Sunday lunch. Well worth the money Short walk into town. Very nicely located. Staff excellent. Nothing was too much trouble . Always smiling and pleasant. Breakfast was good Cooked fresh and hot to order

18/07/2025: We were refused entry into your pub on the grounds that we were too drunk. Your door staff were very rude. I had taken my sister away for her birthday and we had a great day in your establishment. We went to put our bags in the guesthouse and we returned 20 minutes later which is when we were told we were not allowed to enter. This was at 6 o’clock in the evening and we were not drunk and we are 2 middle aged women I am at a loss to understand what we did wrong. Please enlighten me. This occurred on the 6th of July. We are regular visitors to Carlingford and have never had this happen before. This was for my sisters birthday and it was ruined by your rude staff.

10/07/2025: Found this place by chance,while walking around the village. Great food and staff and the restaurant is so adorable. Higly recommend this restaurant. Compliments to lovely staff, Niamh and Marie were so friendly and nice.

29/06/2025: Had a party of 7 family gathering at this very pleasantly appointed Bar/Restaurant. Not cheap, but what’s cheap anyway in 2025? It’s an Irish restaurant in Ireland serving pretty standard fare, curries, burgers, fish platter, salads etc I hurt my soul to order the Fish and Chips - sold to me as “Cod Tempura” which perhaps justified the two kiddie sized pieces of battered cod. Fish and chips should be satisfying. It’s Dundalk not Osaka Dessert for me was the Pavlova which was presented on an under baked meringue shell. It was mainly just beaten egg whites with sugar with no delicious crunch I would come back because I think maybe the main chef was not working Surroundings are lovely and service is super friendly (although your waiters should be aware that rice is gluten free)

04/07/2025: Make an effort to get there.. it will be worth it. Great atmosphere; welcoming and relaxed. Great music. Great pint. Delicious food. There’s a coffee hatch in the car park if you only have time for a drive by. And a sauna and plunge pool ‘round the back.. sure why wouldn’t there be?! Bring your togs, and an appetite and have a gorgeous day out and stay for dinner!
