20/12/2025: Great little pub/ restaurant. We got a last minute booking for 4 of us and I had never eaten here before but I was not disappointed. The food was amazing and the portions are huge. The service came with a smile and friendly chat even though the staff were clearly on top of their heads. I will definitely be back soon.

08/12/2025: Great spot for food both during the week and for Sunday lunch. Not going to me tion my favourite in case it gets too popular.... well worth the visit.

03/01/2026: A fantastic 'destination pub' in Dundalk - terrific menu of delicious options, all served promptly by friendly staff. Wide ramge of beers, wines, cocktails and spirits for every taste and occasion, cannot recomnend highly enough! For us, the only thing missing was Marie, but we savour the memories

04/01/2026: Love this place, we always stay here , tea to the room freshly brewed, and good tea too, was in the minus ➖ degrees last night and the room was still so warm I had to open the window, we even got a tea and coffee to go , 5 star ⭐ all the way

01/01/2026: Had a lovely overnight stay with dinner bed and breakfast. Food was excellent. Service was fantastic and staff were warm and friendly. Would highly recommend this place. We will be back

18/01/2026: I got the duck and it was very good but what feels like half the things on the menu were unavailable or different to the menu. It was very confusing and made it hard to choose what we wanted to eat.

16/01/2026: We had on amazing night here on New Year's Eve 2025, a beautiful meal in the restaurant served by very friendly staff, food was absolutely delicious. Then into the bar for drinks and I can honestly say the management and team are so so welcoming and friendly. Such a lovely clean bar, and so homly. For the new years celebrations every table was given large baskets of more delicious 😋 food I could not get over the generosity of the owners and we all partied the night away. Looking forward to returning ❤️

03/01/2026: Popped in here over the Christmas break for some lunch. The chap at the bar was very friendly and welcoming and quickly sorted us out with a table. We sat down, and a young blonde waitress came over just as my partner had gone to the bathroom. I asked if she could come back in a few minutes, which she seemed somewhat put out by. After waiting around 10 minutes, we went to the bar to ask if we could order. A further five minutes passed before we asked a passing waiter, at which point the same waitress came over, visibly annoyed — as if expecting to order food was somehow unreasonable. The service overall from the waitress was extremely poor: stroppy, disengaged, and lacking even basic eye contact. This was particularly disappointing because the food itself was actually very nice. The initial chap at the bar clearly understood customer service, but his colleague completely let the place down. There was zero interaction when the food was handed over, and the overall experience felt completely disinterested. To top it off, we were left with the bill but no one came to take payment, nor were we told whether we should pay at the bar. All in all, a really poor effort in customer service, which unfortunately overshadowed some very nice food and nice atmosphere overall

03/01/2026: I've been to this pub a number of times over the years to drink and to eat. Staff are always so so friendly and helpful. I have always got great drink and fantastic food. Always a great draught and wiskey selection and the menu is hearty good food with a great selection of fresh sea food.

23/11/2025: Terrible experience all round in this establishment. I had booked weeks previously, rang beforehand to request a booth in the front bar area and was assured that we were already assigned this and would not be moved. Arrived on the night and was told it was unavailable despite being able to clearly see a booth in the front bar was available. One of my party queried why we couldn't have the booth. At this point the manager arrived to say the booth was unavailable and would not budge on the matter. I asked if the booth was booked by someone more important than us and the manager said yes that this was the case. We sat in our allocated seat out the back and then decided to leave as we didn't want to spend our money in such an elitist establishment. Such an awful way to run a restaurant. We won't be back and will make sure to tell our friends and families about our experience. The restaurant also cancelled our booking after we left to ensure we couldn't leave a negative review on Open Table.

27/12/2025: After staying at the Ghan House in October 2024, we decided to have our wedding party there: We had our wedding at Ghan House with 70 guests on a Friday in early September 2025, and we honestly couldn’t have chosen a better venue. From the very beginning, communication during planning – and on the day itself – was excellent. The team was incredibly accommodating and made all of our requests and wishes possible in a reasonable and professional way. The service and staff were outstanding, including impeccable time keeping on the day. Everything ran smoothly, allowing us to fully enjoy ourselves. The venue itself is stunning – the house and garden are beautiful and create such a special atmosphere. Ghan House really feels like a sanctuary right in the centre of Carlingford, which is especially valuable on busy weekends when the town can turn into a crazy stag-party hotspot. One huge plus was that all guests could stay within walking distance, and it’s also just a short walk to St. Michael’s Church, which made logistics incredibly easy. The location is ideal for activities the day before or after the wedding – we enjoyed a hike to Slieve Foye, sauna time at Hot Box, golfing, and even joining the stag-party chaos at PJ’s for those who wanted it. The venue has a real house-party vibe, with different rooms to move between (bar room, fireplace room, etc.), which our guests absolutely loved. We received so many compliments on the atmosphere – everyone had an amazing time. Food was another highlight: very good quality, with excellent vegetarian and vegan options (plenty and well thought out). We chose the buffet, with starters and desserts served, which worked perfectly. The breakfast the next morning was also amazing. Also we were able to bring our own wine (for a corkage fee). In short: don’t hesitate – book it!! Ghan House exceeded all our expectations and gave us a wedding day we (and our guests) will never forget. 31/12/2025: Dropped in on New Year’s Eve early in the evening with my young son they were fully booked but a gorgeous looking lady at the door accommodated us anyway , fully recommend the inn and will gladly return again

20/01/2026: Went for new years food and service was great. Thankfull that they seated us at the bar dispite being busy.

31/12/2025: I had a great time here with friends, however the waitress was incredibly hostile and aggressive towards my table for no apparent reason. She repeatedly ignored our requests when we signalled for service. She rolled her eyes upon taking orders. She aggressively placed the dishes onto our tables while the other servers handled them with care. She did not have a pleasant attitude as a server which created a unwelcoming environment. The waitress had dark hair and facial piercings. I wish she is taken care of accordingly to prevent ruining others dining experience. I strongly hope this was a one off situation, as it has really tarnished my perception of the McGeoughs Bar and Restaurant. Lovely restaurant, hateful waitress.

31/12/2025: We came for my wife’s birthday. What a super little place. Good location for the town. Lovely, cosy atmosphere inside. The staff were excellent. And as for the food…. It was very good indeed. Everything we had was spot on. They even brought a candle out and sung Happy Birthday.
