The best restaurants in Kilkenny

09/06/2025: An awesome place! Learned a bit of Hurling (the game) and poured my own beer. (I got a 10/10, but Garry still topped it off, so might have been an 8/10 in reality. We listened to a great musicians who let us sing along and some chips to soak up the Kilkenny beer (figures it’s not available here cuz it’s a perfect beer) if you are in Ireland,GO HERE!

09/06/2025: Went for the early bird at 5pm and it was great value for the quality of food which was really really high. Service was attentive but not over bearing. Would definitely recommend making a reservation as it got full very quickly and this was on a Monday evening.

06/06/2025: Today I ordered a beef fillet, juicy and seasoned, very tasty. I'll be back. I also ordered a tiramisu dessert, very tasty; I've never tasted anything like it. Thank you all. I'll recommend it to friends.

03/06/2025: Cute and clearly popular cafe! I thought it was very cool and sustainable that they focused on using Ireland-produced/grown ingredients on their menu. I had been craving a scone with cream and jam all day... did not disappoint! Scone was served warm and cream came fresh in a little jar. My parents ordered meals and were very satisfied. Our server was very kind and my dad ended up having a good chat with the staff for a bit. Well-known for good reasons :)

19/05/2025: Our Mother's Day meal that we had planned for months. Reviews about this restaurant are misleading. Food was average at best. I had the steak which may be the worst piece of beef in existence. Note to owner, if you are going to have beef on the menu and charge a premium price, aquire a better grade of meat.My wife and friends were equally disappointed in their selections. Service was friendly but the most disturbing part our the evening was the pace of service. There were only 3 other tables being served and the timeing from kitchen was ridiculously slow. We came 3000+ miles for a disappointed evening.

12/05/2025: The tapas are amazing! The restaurant is clean. It feels like you’re in someone’s living room overlooking the garden.

03/06/2025: Celebrated our Dad's birthday here over the bank holiday weekend and the service was amazing throughout. Our server Alvin was really attentive and really added to our experience. Food was top class and I would highly recommend for catching up with friends or celebrating something special. Lovely atmosphere and suits all needs.

01/06/2025: I have been ordering and dining here for. Any years, however this afternoon I ordered food and a cocktail, the cocktail '' woo woo " was €10 on the menu however when we went to pay they charged us €11 each for the woo woo's, the server insisted it was €11 and checked a menu to prove it, when I stated our menu said it was €10 he went on to say how prices have increased, this was not addressing why our menus said it was €10, I felt like a fool that we were being made out to be liars, quite dissapointing I won't be dining in again unfortunately, perhaps check your menus and ensure consistency and don't insinuate your customers are dishonest.

10/05/2025: My husband and I decided to have a lovely Friday dinner in Kilkenny, driving all the way from Dublin for the occasion. After a quick search, Google recommended "Rive Gauche Restaurant", and we’re so glad we took the suggestion! Even though we didn’t have a reservation, the staff kindly seated us at a lovely table. The menu was full of delicious French classics, and I was excited to introduce my husband to proper French cuisine. I ordered the "Coq au Vin" for him and the "Coquille St. Jacques"for myself, along with a "Baileys coffee" to enjoy with our meal. The food was absolutely delicious that my husband happily finished both our plates since I was too full to finish mine. The Baileys coffee was a delightful accompaniment, and the service was impeccable and friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Rive Gauche to anyone looking for authentic French food in a charming setting. We’ll definitely come back!

01/05/2025: On a recent birthday trip we went torive gauche we had a really nice meal .I had scallops and prawns it was fab.my husband had hake both delicious.i also had a cocktail or two really nice.our server was a lovely girl from Bulgaria called Michaela she was very good at her job so friendly.she spoke to us like she knew us before when we next in kilkenny we will go there again.the atmosphere was great also.it was so worth it to go there.

04/06/2025: The cafe is small and sweet. There isn’t a huge amount of seating which is the only downside. The waitress that served me was lovely and the food was delicious (it also came really fast). I highly recommend 😁

19/05/2025: I love this place, every Monday, a fab band called after dark keep the place hopping. Well worth the 90min drive

15/05/2025: Food is very poor can’t get orders right staff are not nice people very ignorant do not recommend this place at all don’t go in pass it of a lot nicer places around

11/05/2025: We took a day trip to the Kilkenny region and visited the Bollard Bar. We sat outside. I had two local beers from Sullivan's that tasted good. My girlfriend had a glass of white wine and an Irish coffee. The service was very friendly and the prices were moderate for Irish standards.

20/05/2025: Fabuloso pequeño café, espero que la gente siga apoyándolo dada la forma en que otros restaurantes en Kilkenny siguen cerrando. Los bocadillos, tostadas francesas, todo increíble y el servicio muy amable. ¡De primera!

17/05/2025: ¡Increíble joya oculta! Una deliciosa variedad de bebidas y alimentos especiales Tomé un café con leche y chocolate negro salado con tostadas francesas de pistacho... sin duda el mejor que he probado, 10 / 10 recomendar

14/04/2025: The perfect place to have something to eat at meal time. Few dishes but really good and elaborate. They don't have many tables and there may be queues outside.

12/04/2025: The butternut squash curry was delicious and the service was really good, great atmosphere, good price. Will definitely return.

27/05/2025: There's great atmosphere in this quaint little pub. There was live music and the musician interacted with the customers with great humour. The pint was very tasty too.

08/06/2025: We are in Ireland for a pub tour and ended up today at Sullivan's. Alex did a FANTASTIC job of given us the history of Sullivan's. I can no longer drink beer ..gluten allergy...but my cider was delicious. My husband said the beer was also great ...he had the taster. Thank you Sullivan's and Alex!
