The best restaurants in Laois

06/11/2025: Let me start by saying the the two older ladies in the deli and lovely, however, this is a Maxol issue and the two ladies were not behind the deli. I like a sausage and we're all annoyed with the constant prices rising for everything but the standards have also dropped. It's like a free for all, a grab and run with businesses against their own people. Get the food while it's hot! 'No pun intended'. I just have to show what they're making and charging a euro for, you don't get to see the real quality until you break or bite into it. Absolutely awful and the lady that's behind the glass isn't the most pleasant to return it, however, I think that's a language issue rather than rudeness, she's probably lovely. So, it isn't personal, you expect a nice sausage for a euro, which went up 10% in the past couple of months and the quality went down. I know this is a small issue, but it underpins the bigger one, quality and greed in Ireland from business owners. Let's be honest, the sausage came in a big bag and probably cost 15 cent. You can't justify the mark up on things! If you're putting up prices, the quality must improve!

13/10/2025: Nice and convenient place to get a coffee, filling up and getting some papers. Car wash outside is also very good. However, one of the staff members in Deli are absolutely horrible. There's no need for rude comments about what people are ordering, we're paying for it in the end. Couldn't figure her name, but you should be ashamed of yourself. I'll avoid getting deli from this place.

18/02/2026: The green curry was one of the best I've ever had. The rest of the dishes tasted good and looked even better. The prices were the same as everywhere else. I recommend it.

16/02/2026: Ordered for pickup, when we arrived the manager, who had earphones on, rudely interrupted us as we were giving our name to ask for our name. Obviously not hearing us due to having earphones in. Then giving attitude and responding rudely to everything we said. We generally like this Lana. And living in Dublin means it's a treat to have it when down. But this was a terrible experience. The food was fine but terribly dry, but that managers behaviour wasn't okay. We'll be thinking twice about ordering from there again. The nearby new sushi place has much nicer staff and so far the food is more consistent. (this was the 31st of January for context)

19/01/2026: Delicious Munchie Box This box has a great selection of snacks with a wide variety to choose from. Every item I tried was tasty, and the flavours are really enjoyable. It’s perfect for sharing with ur friends and family. I would highly recommend this item.

27/10/2025: I hate leaving negative reviews but feel like tonight I have too. Yes staff were lovely and food too. But service lenght was crazy. When arrived was one couple having their mains, we told to pick table (2 adults 1 kid) then another couple came in just after us. Placed order within 15 mins but took 45 mins to hr for kids meal and 2 starters to come out 2 us. Then a further 40 mins for our mains once finished starters. Yes was few people placing phone orders and coming in to collect but to have one person doing phone orders, plus front of house serving is crazy. Could see people left waiting ages on takeaways, one person been told all ur order ready apart from one item that they forgot to put on. Poor person waiting over 20 mins Food was so yummy but wait time was ridiculous

30/09/2025: The time to be served was fast and the waiters are very welcoming you feel so calm and the inside is beautiful i got the chiken chow mein wich was lovely definitely recommend this place

21/12/2025: Theyre open late, gets you right out the anvil, I asked for nuts and extra spicy and they made it EXTRA spicy, exactly what I wanted for no extra price, I need to pop by to give some tips

27/11/2025: Always great food here. Have used them to cater parties a number of times too and guests always rave about the food. Tonnes of it too. I will never be skinny as long as Tina's is open

10/01/2026: Omg u should try there chicken burgers sooo nice and the staff are the best every time I go there I try something different and it's always good so I would give them 120 out of 100 xxx😅

02/03/2026: Pros: Food was lovely Facilities were good. Staff were polite Cons: Waiting time was unacceptable for everything 1) we had to personally find a manager to get seated for our reservation 2) menus toon more then half an hour to arrive 3) food took about an hour after that 4) staff made no attempt to keep an eye on drinks or ask if we wanted more. Meaning we had to go to the bar. Which was extrememly busy

20/02/2026: Hi so just checked in and headed to the bar for some food and drink 10 in our group. Have to say I never felt so welcome by the bar man. Litrilly watched him serving 3-4 people at a time effortlessly. Think he said his name was Austin. Also want to mention Natasha who was so lovely. They should be treasured. A great asset to the hotel. Amanda Minihan

07/01/2026: Went to book a party here for about twenty people. Receptionist told us that we would be safe booking it anytime within the next two weeks as it was for planned for February, we first rang a few days after Christmas. Decided to go with venue a few days later rang and got no response, closed until the end if February ! You would think the Receptionist would have kindly let us know this. Attempted to ring several more times and sent an email inquiry as directed on their website. No reply. It'll be too late to book they reopen only a matter of days before planned event. Have ended up booking somewhere else.

11/10/2025: Service was terrible , some of the staff are very rude. Wouldn't be going back in a hurry.

17/02/2026: I have a usual order that I have been ordering for the last 12 years. Everyone in Mezza Portlaoise knows my order. I went in one night and ordered my usual. I got home and discovered what I got was not my usual. I went back a couple of days later and the guy who appears to be in charge said he was surprised when my food was being handed out to me wasn't my usual order despite acknowledging that I had clearly ordered my usual order. I hadn't planned on asking for my next order to be free but when this guy acknowledged that what I got was not what I ordered I expected that 12 years as a customer might mean something and I asked if the order i had just submitted would be free gratis. Nope, wasn't going to happen and I made it very clear I will not set foot in this establishment again. Good customer service is not hard folks but apparently it is.

21/02/2026: Very disappointing experience — the worst takeaway in Portlaoise. We were told delivery would take 1 hour, but after waiting an hour and calling, we were told it would actually be 1.5 hours because it was Saturday. After 2 hours we called again, and the woman on the phone was extremely rude and dismissive, saying they were busy and then hanging up. Absolutely unacceptable service — a total joke.

23/11/2025: I am several years in the Republic of Ireland and few times I went to this bar. In general it's fine and today was quite disappointing experience. I ordered Bulmers cider and was served in a glass bottle and left in quiet part of pub to charge the mobile phone device and was enjoying atmosphere, beverage and didn't stay so long and bartender arrived and told me if I finished with Bulmers then needed to leave from premises even it was in my area only myself in pub. He wanted to took me a few mL of cider so I requested to enjoy next one minute and then left. Positive experience with several different occasions visit and today turned to bad experience.

13/03/2026: Always love their singapore noodles (chicken) what i got the other nite was not the chicken i usually get!! I was not impressed if i wanted a spice bag i would have ordered that!! Noodles should not be served with breadded chicken!

28/02/2026: Been neglecting this Chinese. Little did I know it's the best one in the town. The best wings I've had and the wrappo's are 10/10. Food arrived piping hot 🔥

07/03/2026: Amost 20 mins waiting on a chicken wrap. Had to leave as I had no more time. If I didn't leave I'd have to wait an hour for the next train home. Wasted 8 euro and will now have to spend more money on dinner. I gave you 3 stars for the previous 3 visits that were fast and efficient. But today wasn't good enough. Wasted time and money. I can't afford to be wasting money, everything is expensive enough as it is these days. The guy told me 1 more minutes it's ready. 1 more minute and I miss my train. I'm not waiting an hour for another train because it took so long to make a wrap. Just not good enough lads.
