The best restaurants in Mayo

17/08/2025: I was passing through as a tourist, and as a kebab fan, and since we had a room next door, I had to stop in. The kebab was decent, the chicken was very good, and the seasoning was excellent. I'd happily eat another one! I recommend it.

10/03/2025: There's a lot of great restaurants, pubs and cafes that serve food in Westport but there aren't many good quality and affordable options. McHugh's is a great option for good, quality food with friendly and polite staff with affordable prices.

13/09/2025: We had 2 wonderful nights in Mulranny Park Hotel for our annual family gathering. Lovely hotel in a spectacular location with fabulous views of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick. The food is excellent in the hotel, evening dinners are of a very high standard. The staff are the friendliest we ever encountered. They couldn't do enough for us. Special mention to Kenneth the barman. A genuinely nice man and a sound bloke. I removed one star for only a minor detail, the rooms are a little bland and need some updating and while the lobby is lovely some brighter paint colours would make it a little more inviting. But as I said that is very minor on what is overall a fabulous hotel to stay in. A huge "thank you" to all the wonderful staff of Mulranny Park. Will definitely visit again.

19/08/2025: Great pub , good food , well worth going to , we had 8 people last Saturday evening, no booking and they did their best to accommodate us for late food , would definitely recommend the loft .

08/08/2025: Popped in this morning for breakfast with my newborn in his pram. The waitress took me to the back, which was stuffy and filled with patrons, I expressed that I’m breastfeeding and don’t feel comfortable feeding my baby while literally sitting 30cm away from a stranger and said I’d like to sit in the front section which was empty apart from one occupied table. I sat down, 10 mins later I was asked to move to the back again by another waitress. I repeated my concerns but she insisted I move because the pram was too close to the empty 2 seater table next to me. I told her I’d rather leave, which I did.

01/08/2025: I'm a Claremorris local, but moved abroad over 20 years ago. When visiting family in Claremorris I make sure to bring the kids to Blue Thunder. We visited again recently and it was just wonderful. Bernie and Rose couldn't have been kinder. We were a large group of 13 and they made sure everything was taken care of. Super clean and good prices. Normally a chipper is a chipper, but the service level here stands out. Thank you ladies!!

25/07/2025: One of the worst meals i ever had. Haddock was cold and out of a box, processed and stale looking. Really horrific food for a hotel to to serve. Waiter was overbearing and annoying

04/08/2025: I've ordered online from Blue Thunder many times before, and usually it's ok. Yesterday evening , however, I ordered A Doner Box Meal for collection. There was possibly 3 pieces of dried doner meat chopped up and scattered on top. The chips were completely drowned in mayo and sweet chilli sauce. Nothing about this meal resembled a Doner. The chips were disgusting, after lying under an avalanche of mayonnaise. Don't put Doner on the menu, if clearly, you don't know what constitutes a doner.
