Went for a Sunday drive and stopped in here, lovely pub and as stated Michelle our server excellent but the food was a letdown. The beef was tough as was the pork and the veg tasted stale. 19/06/2026: Went for a falcon tour and it was absolutely amazing. Daniel was an exceptional guide and host.

10/06/2026: Met with Daniel and was given a little lesson on the birds of prey. We held a little falcon. And got up close to a big owl named gandolf, a snow owl named snowy, a barn owl named Ashley that had the softest feathers, and met our walking companion hunter the hawk. Daniel lead us on a small walk through the woods switching wearing the falconry glove as hunter swooped after us. Daniel was a wonderful, informative, and enthusiastic guide! Would definitely recommend this experience!!

21/05/2026: The staff are amazing, very welcoming and can't do enough to make your stay a real joy, they even insist on making you tea and carrying it to the room for you. Like Arnie, we will be back!

08/04/2026: The location is excellent, right in the center of Foxford. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed, and a beautiful ensuite.

02/06/2026: I found this place, after spending time at the hospital and having not been to Castlebar for a while, i was heading to the coffee bar next door. I saw Rua and was drawn to going inside. Rua is a lovely little deli, selling fresh bread, baked goods, sandwiches and deli boxes along with your normal deli pickles, sauces, wine, meats and cheese, coffee, tinned items etc. Really good selection. The coffee is great and you get a little piece of shortbread with it too, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff are friendly, they have a great choice at reasonable deli prices. I am a coffee fan and everytime I visit the area, I struggle to find somewhere who can make a decent cortado. This is the best I've found, in Mayo. The whole carrot cake looked delicious and will be next on my list to try as well as the mint straciatella ice-cream. It's weird that it's the small things that make difficult situations slightly more bearable. Many people don't know how they impact on someone's day. After a rough few days, Rua was a haven for me and just a simple well-made coffee and a piece of shortbread can make such a huge difference. Thank you for doing what you do.

18/07/2026: A brilliant find! I popped in by chance and loved it. The sandwich was really tasty (the bread seemed to be French – a real treat), the queue wasn’t long and there was a great atmosphere. You can eat inside or just opposite, by the river.

03/07/2026: Hidden gem in Mayo If you're looking for a basecamp that genuinely caters to both kids and adults, this is it. Traveling as a family of five, it can be tough to find a place that works for everyone, but the setup here is brilliant. The staff are incredibly welcoming, the views are stunning and it just has a great, old-world, relaxed atmosphere. A few things we really loved: The Greenway is literally on the doorstep: The Great Western Greenway runs straight through the hotel grounds. There’s a really handy bike rental place on-site, and because the route is paved and traffic-free, it was also the absolute perfect spot for me to step right out the door and get a run in. Great facilities for the whole family: It’s rare to find a hotel that keeps everyone this happy. The kids club and the big indoor pool were a massive hit, and having a sauna, steam room, cold plunge and jacuzzi for the adults was a bonus. Perfect location: You really couldn't ask for a better jumping-off point. It’s the gateway to Achill Island and Wild Nephin National Park, and you are surrounded by gorgeous beaches (Keem beach for example). Westport is also just a short drive away when you want to wander around a town full of great restaurants and bars. Brilliant food: The food was top tier. They do a massive buffet breakfast - ideal to fuel up for an active day - and the evening meals in the restaurant and bar were fantastic. If you want an easy, comfortable, family-friendly hotel with the best of Mayo's outdoors right outside your window, I can't recommend this place enough.
