The best restaurants in Mayo

25/04/2025: The Indian food is second to none 😋 especially the Naan. It's not for those who like super spicy Indian; but if you like it flavourful without the "morning after " syndrome - this is THE place for you 😀. Oh did I mention the Naan? Make sure you say hello to Sam :)

20/04/2025: Excellent Indian Restaurant. Staff couldn't do enough and the food is excellent. It's a busy restaurant and when there a lot of takeaways it can feel a bit slow but it's well worth any wait. Can't recommend enough

04/04/2025: I'm a hard working Irish man working a job that the majority of Irish people refuse to work in and that is the care of elderly in nursing homes for many years. I arrived to Ballina for the night after sightseeing the Mayo coast. Without having previously taken a drink of alcohol I was refused service at this pub saying "I had too much to drink tonight". The real reason was my Limerick accent and what one local barman said to me. This pub believed me to be belonging to an "ethnic minority" which means to us Irish as the Travelling Community. I have been up and down my country of Ireland and as a middle aged man I have never experienced any type of discrimination before. What a shame they trade off the name of Joe Biden. Close minded bigots. Avoid if you are a tourist to Ireland this is not an authentic Irish pub.

26/12/2024: Little bit away from all the other pubs on main street. It was OK pints. Lady owner was pouring the bad pints and it looked not ok.. spilling all over and she didn’t care. It’s very small area to sit in.

08/12/2024: Lovely place for a pint if it wasn’t for the one toothless grumpy old man in the front bar. The locals will know who I mean. He was insulting fellow Irish men. One day he might prove himself to people who did better than him. An Fear Brèige a ta tu.

14/05/2025: Having visited a few times in the past, we were more than happy to take our visitors here. Mistake! Embarrassing! One of the Sunday lunch specials, Cod & Chips was not great. Undercooked fish, raw and "wet" batter. No crunch, just slop. This is supposed to be the star of the show...we ordered three of these and they were all similarly miserable. (Chips were great.) The cherry on the top was the staffs' response when notified. "We will advise the kitchen accordingly." When paying the bill, we again mentioned the issue with the fish/batter and were told that "the kitchen is addressing the matter." Great for the next customer, not so great for us!!

13/05/2025: A group of 15 of us went to the TF hotel for lunch last Sunday before the match. Staff were very nice & pleasant as always but unfortunately the food wasn't up to par. Very small portions and to be honest not alot of taste for the hefty price tag. The vegetables were practically raw, very hard to eat. We have been coming to the TF for long time on occasion, but this wasn't a great experience. We went at 1 pm for Sunday lunch and it was really quiet which we thought was very unusual, especially the day of a big match Mayo v Galway.

24/04/2025: Food was great, I asked for a come and was flat, I asked to get water and it was fine, but when I went to pay they charged me for a coke that I didn't drink, when I questioned the waiter said that is how we do things here. Very unprofessional you need to pay. Not happy

23/04/2025: Visited and stayed here for a night couple of days ago. It was a very last minute booking. Right from the moment we entered and were met at reception we got a warm feeling. The lovely lady at the front desk kindly talked us through a plan for seeing the best sites around the island with our limited time. The rooms are a little dated (so if you are looking for brand new latest trends hotel this may not be for you) but are extremely tidy and felt very relaxing to us. At first we were going to walk around town and see where we might eat for the evening. Feeling tired we just decided to eat at the hotels restaurant and so glad we did. In our 4 weeks in the Emerald isles this has been by far our best meals yet. Both starters, mains and desserts were amazing. Thanks to all the staff for an amazing stay.

24/05/2025: Have eaten here a couple of times, and the food is excellent everytime I come and the staff are great. Would highly recommend coming if you're Castlebar or the area

20/05/2025: Shocked and horrified by the behaviour of the manager Des. Stepped outside the front of the bar with a drink in hand and was aggressively grabbed and pushed to the side by him. This was witnessed by friends present and security from bars near by who were also appalled by this behaviour. Utterly disgusted and still in shock by this experience. Avoid!

11/05/2025: Stopped by for breakfast after a nght camping at Rinroe beach. We were warmly welcomed by Carmel who served us a hearty irish breakfast prepared by Breege. The food was super tasty and the girls couldn't do more to make our visit unforgettable.... Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting the area 🙌

06/05/2025: Stayed on Rinroe beach to camp and came here for breakfast. They were super welcoming and kind. Very nice and extensive breakfast for a decent price. Would definitely recommend!
