26/06/2025: I would not be one for takeaways but I go through Claremorris a couple of times a month. I have never had a poor meal. The fish and chips is absolutely excellent. The thing that adds to the good food cooked well is the brilliant service. Fast efficient and extremely friendly and helpful. You feel like a valued customer on every occasion. I cannot praise them highly enough.

09/07/2025: Great selection of both seafood and meat. We had good seafood rice and a Margherita pizza, which was obviously frozen. The staff was very welcoming. It's best to book because it's crowded. Vegetarian options are available.

21/06/2025: Tesco is pretty big here, and they do have a cafe nearby. There is a lot of things to do around it shops wise including a lot of parking but couldn’t find a single bathroom!

27/06/2025: Staff were lovely however we felt the food was very mean for the price paid. Almost 19 euro for a tiny burger and a handful of chips. We ordered a portion of onion rings each and still left hungry.

21/06/2025: Food medicore at best. Steak came over-cooked already on hot plate, ribs tasteless and dry, with what seemed like bottle BBQ sauce dolloped on top, chowder was ok. Three things we ordered didn't come, waited a long time. Staff pleasant and friendly

15/06/2025: Brilliant we arrived with a large group of adultsand kids, we had pre booked, staff were extremely efficient and very helpful, food was delicious very good sized portions and great value for money. The kids even received complimentary desert, ideal for large groups, nothing seemed to phast the staff, would definitely visit again and highly recommend

26/02/2025: Very cramped seating. Food ok but nothing special. Staff helpful and good natured. In the past I had a cheese and ham toastie which was inedible. Toast not toasted, sliced processed cheese and ham tasteless. This time I had delicious homemade soup with brown bread.

31/01/2025: All the staff here are so nice and chatty my one gripe is I think the owner should now relocate to a bigger premise. As a few times I've walked past and it's busy and the tables need to be bigger. Which they can't be as the eating area would not be big enough should move to the shop that's closed across the road bigger floor layout

10/06/2025: We had a wonderful stay with very friendly hosts and a beautiful homemade Irish breakfast. It is very close to Knock airport so made our journey very convenient. Would recommend if you are in the area.

18/02/2025: My husband and I had a wonderful few nights here looked after superbly by Anthony . The Full Irish was the best we’ve ever tasted with homemade bread and local produce. Endless pots of tea , fresh fruits , yoghurts , cereals and juices. The freshly baked scones were to die for ! Tea / coffee /biscuits always available in the gorgeous quirky sitting room. Our second visit here ( last one pre covid ) and so sorry the restaurant is now closed but plenty of lovely places to eat in Charlestown only a few minutes walk from the Riverside. We will definitely return as the location is perfect for visiting Knock Shrine and a few minutes from the airport .

07/06/2025: Outstanding food when visiting ballina this is definitely the one to go to. I can express how much we loved the food, the flavours, the presentation everything was excellent. Mixed platter for 2 is a great start but the chicken satay skewers were on another level as was the salt and chilli chicken ❤️

13/07/2025: Loved it, loved it. Charming hotel, fabulous staff. Great food. Comfy bed and wonderful pillows. I enjoyed every minute. Right in the center of Westport with handy parking.

12/07/2025: Good hotel in the city center. Only a few rooms have a view of the street, other windows face the inner wall/others' windows. Very good service. Breakfast was ok but prefer buffet to choosing from a menu. The hotel restaurant Maddens was very good though.

30/12/2024: Was in Belmullet visiting relatives and popped in for a few beers. The Guinness was the best I've tasted and Linda is so welcoming

16/07/2025: We stayed three nights in a lovely large suite, located in the original part of the hotel. The room was great. The hotel and the state experience is a bit odd. In the summer months, the lovely interior restaurant area is not available at dinner, and instead dining is in a huge tent — suitable for large weddings and other big events, we suppose, but not what we were looking for or wanted. The four large TV screens showing golf and football were more appropriate for a large outdoor pub than a fine dining restaurant. The dining itself was quite good, and the portions certainly generous. The young staff was doing its best, but one has the feeling that they are not sufficiently trained or properly supervised. The place apparently caters to small group tours, and we saw a number come and go over three days during our times at breakfast. But apart from that, when we were there in mid June 2025, the place seemed rather surprisingly vacant. One very positive memory: the falconry tour we took on our last day. That, and the beautiful suite, made this visit worthwhile. If we were to return, we would avoid the summer months (and the hugs tent) — and enjoy the interior dining room at dinner.
