20/05/2026: Savoir Fare in Westport is an absolute gem. Everything on the table was Irish produce, incredible Achill Island smoked salmon, beautiful local cheeses and unreal brown bread. Simple food done exceptionally well. Alain’s passion for Irish artisan produce comes through in every detail. Honest, high quality food that we are lucky to have in Mayo. One of the best food experiences I’ve had in a long time.

06/05/2026: An absolutely beautiful ham burger with the choice of crispy bacon, not like Supermacs and their boiled looking half boiled horrid bacon white slices. Lovey Northern English hospitality and beautiful burger, totally recommend Claremorris Blue Thunder beautiful food to 4 people in less than an hour

22/06/2026: Gave me food poisoning. AVOID - all food is cooked in the microwave - sausages taken out of the metal tins and put into the microwave then served lukewarm. Scrambled eggs are made in a big jug in the microwave. Beans the same and just left on the counter. Don't even think they own a frying pan. Staff are nice though running around with swear dripping off their heads. Place is run down. Very unappealing

23/02/2026: Loved that we walked in and they have Coldplay’s ‘A Rush of Blood to the Head’ album playing in the restaurant! Very nice spot in Castlebar with good food and friendly service. Highly recommended

06/06/2026: We spent the night in Castlebar for a concert (our first time here), we got lots of recommendations from locals to go to the Tara Cafe for brekky the next morning, so we did. We highly recommend this cafe for food. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. So worth the visit. And right beside Penny's... its a win, win ✨️

03/09/2025: Atmosphere and service of restaurant was very nice. The server was courteous and friendly. Reason for my 3 star rating is my ribeye steak was inedible, very tough, fatty, chewy. A far cry from the “marbling that melts into the meat resulting in a juicy steak” as advertised. I was expecting a fine cut of steak. Tried real hard to eat it, but after half the steak was so tough and chewy and having to take the meat out of my mouth, I gave up. The side dishes were all quite good and I enjoyed them very much. The peppercorn sauce was also very good…I dipped my chips in it since the steak wasn’t working out. My wife ordered the fillet and it was very good. She gave me a few bites and I wish I had ordered the fillet, not the ribeye. Perhaps it was just a bad cut that night, I don’t know as this was our first visit to Westport and Coveys. They did offer to cook me a new piece of meat, but at this point my wife was nearly done, so I declined.

15/07/2026: The atmosphere was quite nice, but i have a couple points of improvement, the steak was extremely tough the waiter was very understanding which is good, the mussels were alright but the sauce wasn’t very nice, the crab meal barely had any crab in it at all. If they improve these then this restaurants could be amazing

13/07/2026: We had a wonderful celebratory luncheon at Cullen's at the Cottage to mark my son's engagement during our Ireland trip, complete with a lovely bottle of champagne, which was thoroughly enjoyed. The food was fantastic, and the service was swift and calculated, the kind of perfected service that's subtle, never distracting, yet very noticeable. If you can not stay at Ashford, I highly recommend a dining experience at Ashford Castle. We followed up our lunch with a Hawk Walk at the School of Falconry on site, which was magical! Great memories made!

14/06/2026: Ordered chilli crispy chicken and noodles, when it arrived the noodles had grey lumps of egg and bean sprouts in, not what I was expecting and didn't taste very nice, the crispy chilli chicken was in a nice sauce, the chicken was very sinewy and unpleasant to eat. Didn't eat alot did try. Sorry won't be returning.

13/06/2026: The menu tells you what is in the meal, ie vegetables and choice of meat. I deliberately ordered a meal without mushrooms listed, because i despise them, and of course there they were. The food s in the bin now, except the rice which is my dinner now Why not be consistent, if you list the main ingredients on the men,, stick to it The staff member who served me was pleasant.

05/04/2026: We had a great stop during our roadtrip here today for Easter and ate the best aubergine lasagne ever. The food has a great cost-quality/quantity ratio. And the young guy who served us was so nice!
