The best restaurants in Mayo

30/07/2026: Very good food. Table of 10, everyone thought the dinner was very good. Kids had pizza, which they all cleared. Very good.

22/07/2026: Our own meal was okay, but there were several issues. We accidentally received the alcoholic Sunshine Martini instead of the mocktail because the names are too similar, and it took around 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. The biggest issue was our waiter, Kyle. We watched a couple next to us wait over an hour for a single pizza before walking out. Instead of apologising or trying to fix the situation, Kyle blamed “the new pizza guy” and called him useless. He did the same thing with another table, openly criticising the kitchen and saying he used to do a better job himself. To make matters worse, when a food runner tripped and dropped food, Kyle mocked him and then went around making faces to other tables. It was incredibly unprofessional. We raised our concerns with the supervisor, who simply said he’d pass it on to management and brushed us off. The only positives were Yvette, Marios and Luke, who were fantastic and a credit to the restaurant. Unfortunately, if this is the standard of customer service Coveys accepts, we won’t be returning.

07/06/2026: Traveled through the West of Ireland and when I arrived in Ballina, I walked around town in the evening. Asked around for trad and got told to go to Rouse's. Went in for just a pint, left 4 hours later. Everybody was very friendly, I loved the atmosphere, had great chats and even got invited to sing. It felt very communal and like most knew each other - but I still felt very much included. Had one of the best nights I've had in Ireland so far. Thanks so much!

30/05/2026: What can I say its a fabulous pub very well kept great staff ie owner super clean well worth a visit i loved it ps a great pint of Guinness

02/07/2026: A brilliant takeaway for those days you don't want to cook. Good food and great selection.

05/04/2026: They do takeaway only. We were there on Friday evening and the place is packed. Food took about 20 mins to come out. We learned some people ordered online and come to pick up, so they don't have to wait long. I feel the fish, chips, chicken goujons and onion rings are of the better quality chipper. Does not come out too greasy. What I am impressed we got 2 battered sausages and they used breakfast sausages instead of hod dogs that I'm used to seeing.

24/01/2026: First time eating here, nice staff, decent variety of food to choose from and priced as you would expect for pub grub, can recommend this place, will be nice to sit outside in the summer and watch the river 😀

03/06/2026: Very nice staff but ridiculous prices. More expensive than Dublin. €11 for a Bagel with cream cheese and a Flat White. I suspect even the staff thought it was pricey as they offered me a free refill!

15/07/2026: The atmosphere was quite nice, but i have a couple points of improvement, the steak was extremely tough the waiter was very understanding which is good, the mussels were alright but the sauce wasn’t very nice, the crab meal barely had any crab in it at all. If they improve these then this restaurants could be amazing

13/07/2026: We had a wonderful celebratory luncheon at Cullen's at the Cottage to mark my son's engagement during our Ireland trip, complete with a lovely bottle of champagne, which was thoroughly enjoyed. The food was fantastic, and the service was swift and calculated, the kind of perfected service that's subtle, never distracting, yet very noticeable. If you can not stay at Ashford, I highly recommend a dining experience at Ashford Castle. We followed up our lunch with a Hawk Walk at the School of Falconry on site, which was magical! Great memories made!
