The best restaurants in Mayo

10/12/2025: We went into Loftys for one on the way back to the hotel and ended up staying for 4. The Guinness is really good lofty the main man was serving, and what an absolute Gent he was we had a chat and a laugh. It wasn't that busy as it was a tuesday evening but I really enjoyed the few hrs spent there.

26/08/2025: Great pint of Guinness, Annie was very friendly and helpful, gave us advice on our onward journey.

04/12/2025: Amazing food. We got the steak sandwich and beef stroganoff, both of which were the nicest I’ve had. Great service too and a nice calm atmosphere.

01/12/2025: Salmon dinner was good, hot, and a large portion. Not sure it was local. Dispointed oysters were not on the menu but overall nice location, good service, and nice atmosphere.

27/09/2025: My husband and I enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal at Cullens, previously Cong’s theatee v The menu offered many delicious items to choose from. The onion soup was absolutely delightful, perfect balance of other vegetables along with the onions, which were the highlight. My husband enjoyed every bite of the duck conft salad. For the entrée, I enjoyed a very rich and tasty shrimp and lobster risotto. Scott was wowed by the sole which was deboned at our table. The servers were very friendly and shared the history of this venue. !Chapeau! Hats off to the chef! And staff.

17/09/2025: We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Marianna (hopefully I spelled that correctly) was amazing. She was our waitress and she made the best drinks + great conversation. I had the pasta with clams and mussels- amazing. My wife had the chkn. Everything was great, excellent and we had a great time. Dessert and the Irish coffee was excellent as well. Highly recommended. We stayed at the lodge.

12/10/2025: Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price I stayed at Pure Magic Achill Island for 2 nights, and it was the worst accommodation experience I’ve ever had. We chose it based on the good online reviews and clean photos, and paid €270 just for the room. However, upon arrival, I was completely shocked. The room was not clean — there was hair all over the bed, and the bed linen clearly hadn’t been freshly changed. When I complained, I was offered another room with a double bed, single bed, and bunk beds for two of us and it was even worse. The room smelled like an old college hostel and had a tiny bathroom roughly partitioned with hardboard. When I asked for a refund to find another place, they refused, leaving me no choice but to stay in the first room. The shower water didn’t drain properly, the toilet wobbled when sitting on it, and even the towel was jammed into the sink. The whole building was old, dirty, and poorly maintained. Overall, it was a total nightmare. Definitely not worth the money and I do not recommend this place at all.

21/09/2025: Pure Magic is a place close to my heart. I’ve stayed here many times, and it never disappoints. Nestled at the foot of Slievemore Mountain, it’s perfect for a peaceful, tranquil break. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and easy-going. The food is excellent—highlights for me are the lasagne, which is a special, the warming seafood chowder, and the decadent white chocolate crème brûlée. Breakfast is just as good, with perfectly poached eggs and a great balance of healthy bites and hearty indulgence. Keel Beach is a short cycle or drive away, perfect for a morning dip in the Atlantic. From the property, you can also enjoy walks to an impressive megalithic site and the Deserted Famine Village—great hikes without being too strenuous. I can’t recommend this place enough.

11/10/2025: Got a take away here last night after a road trip, had to travel another 25mins after collecting it. Food was still piping hot when I'd say down to eat it, the portion was bigger than other Chinese, and to top of off, the portion of chicken was unreal! And fresh, no chewy chicken like the lantern! Absolutely beautiful and nicely priced 🥰 Well done Team Ocean Palace!

03/10/2025: A lovely spot for tea and a pastry! They have a variety of sweets and loaves of bread for purchase, as well as some sandwiches that come out around lunch time.

20/08/2025: Excellent venue for a range of arts events and community gatherings. The historic building has recently undergone a face-lift which brings it back to its historic best.
