10/08/2026: An absolute gem and one of the unexpected highlights of our cycling trip along the EV1. We stopped here for lunch while cycling from Belmullet towards Ballycastle and it was perfect — delicious food, a lovely welcome and just what we needed in such a remote and beautiful part of Mayo. Definitely worth stopping if you’re cycling or hiking in the area.

27/03/2026: We went to the Gateway today for a family birthday. The sevice was slow but food was reasonable even though vegetables arrived when meal was nearly eaten. The main problem was with the service and attitude of staff. We asked for a jug of water before meal and asked two different girls on four different occasions without water arriving. When it did arrive the jug and glasses were slammed on table. We will not be back

19/08/2026: We popped into Hogans on a number of occasions, whilst over in Ireland this week with an extended group of family members
Padraig, the owner, was really friendly and helpful to us all. Service was excellent and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming
Live music on Sunday was excellent and the cocktails were superb. This will now be one of our regular bases for future trips

08/10/2026: We ordered pizzas for takeaway one gluten free and one regular with completely different toppings on each. My husband ate his first as I was busy and by the time I came to have to eat mine pizza we realised he had eaten the regular pizza. He is a coeliac. The pizza toppings were put on the incorrect pizza basis.
I was left to have GF pizza. It is by the worst pizza base I have ever eaten.
This is a significant dietary mistake for a restaurant to make. Really really disappointed
