The best restaurants in Mayo

09/05/2026: Food is only okay, very expensive. All of the pizzas and most of the food contain sesame so not good for allergy sufferers. If you sit outside there is no table service. When it's busy it takes a long time to get a drink as bar is tiny.

28/04/2026: First time being here recently, food was fine only had pizza’s. Staff i felt weren’t up to scratch. A nervous young lad at the front of house, not great first impression maybe it was his first day and a bar man whose English wasn’t his first language made everything a little difficult trying to order a rock shandy. Needs improvement , then again once the summer lands the crowds will come regardless

08/06/2026: Extremely poor and hugely disappointing - fish was basically just batter with the tiniest bit of unfleshy fish and the chips were cold, hard and very unpleasant. The staff did however refund the price when I took the food back. Go elsewhere or check your meal before leaving the shop.

17/05/2026: Nice small sit in or take away ordered a snack box ( 2 picies of chicken and chips) found the chips to be lovely but the chicken had no flavour. My friend ordered a burger looked tasty friend said it was nice

14/10/2025: Smashing pub. If there's a band on, make it your business to get down to it, guaranteed to be hopping.🤘 Good for the sports also. Guinness is worth a mention too.

02/07/2026: We stumbled across this when we were out and about exploring the Wild Atlantic Way. The food was decent and filling. A lovely young lady was serving and another lady cooking in the kitchen. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Not the poshest place to be but absolutely worth popping in if you are passing

22/04/2026: In 2012, my brother lost his life after being in a physical altercation with the security from Cox's, 2 of them asked him to leave which he did, peacefully as seen on CCTV, he tried to walk away 3 times,but you can see the security saying things to him while he was walking away, as the coroner said at the inquest, unfortunately we can't hear what they're saying, unfortunately on the third time my brother came back and that's when the "physical struggle " happened , resulting in the loss of my brothers life. I could go into more detail but I'd be here for a week. By the way, Cox's didn't have a late licence to operate that night either, unbelievable. I hope this message finds the right people, and I will never forget what happened that night and I hope it lives long in the memories of the owners and the security. ( which I doubt.) RIP paraic. ❤️

08/04/2026: Old tired bathroom with grout missing from tiles in major need of a refurbishment. Never a 4 star hotel. Bedroom also old fashioned. Whole place needs modernisation. Update, the hotel apologised and said I should not have been in room 212 as it should have been closed for renovations. The hotel kindly offered a full refund. I will update score after I stay in another room. Update Room 209, bathroom brand new

02/03/2026: Great staff. Had gorgeous room with bath under a skylight. Perfect place to stay when attending any event at the Arts Centre just down the street.

03/04/2026: Within about a 30 km radius, this is hands down my favourite and honestly the tastiest South Asian-style restaurant. A few dishes I keep coming back for: prawns in sweet chili sauce is my absolute favourite. The Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups are incredible — rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. And the crispy duck is just amazing, one of the best I’ve ever had. Honestly, these dishes are prepared here in a way that I haven’t found anywhere else — at least not to my taste — which is why I keep coming back. What really surprises me is that the place is almost always quite empty. It’s still a bit of a mystery to me because the food is consistently delicious. The service is good: staff come over, check if everything is okay, ask if you like the food — attentive but not intrusive. The only downside is that the toilets are on the third floor, which is a bit inconvenient, but that’s more of a building issue. Overall, the place is cosy, spacious, and very nice to be in. And to be honest, I’m even a bit surprised and sad to see some negative reviews, because I’ve been coming here for about a year — travelling from Castlebar — and I’ve always been more than satisfied.

25/05/2026: Absolutely delighted with the cake from O’Heirs Bakery Claremorris! It looked amazing and tasted even better. The kids loved it so much they all came back for a second round — which says it all! A special mention to Fergus as well for being so friendly and amazing to deal with. Thank you for making our occasion extra special. Highly recommend!

05/04/2026: I came in to have a wrap, i didnt expect it to be that spicy, im not into spice, but it was delicious 😋, the worker was kind, friendly, and just a nice dude, my only issue is that theres no place to sit inside like the weather was now, rain and cold, prices are great, not expensive nor cheap, Good fast food restaurant 9.5/10

02/06/2026: Stopped in after our 2-Yr old got sick in the car on the way to Knock. Couldn’t have been a better experience all around! The car wash on site as well as the laundry facilities was amazing. Great selection of food and coffee. But above all the staff were absolutely fantastic! So helpful to us in a very stressful situation

28/05/2026: Closest petrol station to Knock airport to my knowledge. We stop here to fill up every time and also pick up some last minute bits.

01/06/2026: Ordered collection was only asked for first name on phone. Was rang 25minutes after collecting food that we were given the wrong food as two people had the same name and were called out at the same time. The food we were given was totally different from our order and only included one main instead of the two we ordered. We weren’t in a position to drive for another 40 minutes to collect our correct order so asked for a refund as we couldn’t eat what we were given. Very bad service and staff then lied about what happened that we collected an order that was called out for a different name which is not what happened. It was the restaurants mistake, handled very poorly dishonest.

01/05/2026: Went for dinner last night. Two starters, two mains and two soft drinks came to 79 euros. The staff were exceptionally pleasant, restaurant clean with lovely views but very overpriced. Got 4 battered prawns which were 12 euros, chicken no veg with sauce and noodles which was 25 euros. Prices massively inflated from takeaway. Left disappointed as food wasn't up to the price tag.

11/05/2026: While it's true that, as some reviews mentioned, the shower sealant could be redone—it's a quick and easy fix—we really liked the retro feel of the bathroom. The room was large and clean, and the bedding was perfect. The staff was young and charming, and the service was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. The hotel is close to the center (a 10-minute walk) and secluded beside a lovely stream, guaranteeing peace and quiet in a natural setting. We would gladly return.

09/05/2026: During the week me and my wife stayed in this hotel. Was unaware of the fact that this hotel is part ipas centre. My kids were afraid to go outside to play as there was dodgy men throughout the hotel. Breakfast was dried out but my breakfast waiter was a lovely young lady who made the experience a little nicer. Definitely won't be returning or recommend anyone i know to stay here either.
