04/04/2025: The staff at Insomnia are brilliant. I see them most days, making a personalised experience for each customer. It is always a delight to visit here and they look after me so very well

18/02/2025: Coffee was nice, however the vibe wasn't great. Ordered coffee and food with my daughter, both of which I couldn't fault, very tasty. What put us off was a middle aged man who appeared to be an owner/manager perhaps, who stormed around with a watchful eye over everyone as if we were in a prison dining hall. Lots of tables were free and a man beside us was at a small table with two seats, his rucksack left on one free seat, and this older man grunts "are you using this?" And proceeded to remove his bag, put it on the floor and take away the chair. Fair enough if chairs were needed, but there were many spaces free. He kept passing by and watching each table. It just ruined it for me. Maybe consider keeping him in back office.

30/03/2025: First chipper visit since being diagnosed with coeliac disease.Very busy Saturday evening . Staff we're flat out seemed to work well together and were friendly.They have a separate gluten free menu with a good choice of meals.Ordered chicken burger chips and curry sauce. We were eating in. Not too long of a wait and the food was dropped down.My order was clearly marked GF.Good quality chicken burger and the bread bun wasn't too bad for gluten free. Decent portions and not too expensive. Toilets maybe need a bit of attention. Tables and cafe are clean and tidy enough. Wrote my review today so I could confidently say that the gluten free food I had seems to have been prepared safely. Would definitely try again as there aren't many chippers catering for people with coeliac disease.

31/05/2025: Very nice atmospheric cafe, service at the highest level, the kitchen is very clean, everything is fresh and tasty, perfect for breakfast or lunch, the service was fast, and finally, the coffee is simply incredibly delicious

29/04/2025: I was there for a recital by the Kiltimagh Choral Group and it was a lovely evening. Well done to the staff of the Linen Hall from booking to attendance at the venue

31/08/2024: Delighted to recommend this hidden gem! Had fish and chips, delicious and prawns with garlic bread, chips and salad, very tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful, bathrooms were spotless.

20/10/2024: Standard chipper. Being the only chipper around for miles they have potential to be so much better. Right beside the camp site so easy access from there and the beach. Super busy, but that’s because it’s the only takeaway place around.

14/09/2024: We were on holiday for a week on Achill and went on a search for the best food on the island. Once we tried The Islander, everyone in the family just wanted to go back again and again. And you can! The menu has so much variety, we could have spent a month there trying new things. One of our favourites was Alex's Argentine Beef Burger - Alex, you're a genius. So, the food's great, it's great value for money and service is fast and friendly. If the owners ever fancy expanding the business towards Ulster, you’ve already got eager customers waiting in Monaghan!!

25/02/2025: I just do not get this place. We ordered fish and chips and sausage and chips. We waited an eternity, as they were busy. They put both orders in brown bags. When we came to eat them, the chips were mush. You could not eat them. If you tried to use a fork, they broke in half. They had not been fried in hot enough fat nor blanched to make them crispy. Putting them in bags makes them steam. The fish was total mush. The batter had disintegrated into the chips, and it just made the chips even more sodden. It was the worst piece of fish we have ever eaten. The bit I don't get, why is it busy? We will never come back.
