The best restaurants in Mayo

03/04/2026: Within about a 30 km radius, this is hands down my favourite and honestly the tastiest South Asian-style restaurant. A few dishes I keep coming back for: prawns in sweet chili sauce is my absolute favourite. The Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups are incredible — rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. And the crispy duck is just amazing, one of the best I’ve ever had. Honestly, these dishes are prepared here in a way that I haven’t found anywhere else — at least not to my taste — which is why I keep coming back. What really surprises me is that the place is almost always quite empty. It’s still a bit of a mystery to me because the food is consistently delicious. The service is good: staff come over, check if everything is okay, ask if you like the food — attentive but not intrusive. The only downside is that the toilets are on the third floor, which is a bit inconvenient, but that’s more of a building issue. Overall, the place is cosy, spacious, and very nice to be in. And to be honest, I’m even a bit surprised and sad to see some negative reviews, because I’ve been coming here for about a year — travelling from Castlebar — and I’ve always been more than satisfied.

28/07/2026: We ordered food at 8:58. Called two hours later at 10:43 as it still wasn’t delivered was told it was only just out for delivery (2 hours after ordering). Still havnt gotten any food at 11:20 and they’re advertised as closed at 11:30.

09/06/2026: Very underwhelming. The waitress is awful, walking around chewing gum, and can't even look the customer in the eye or smile and no interaction. Food was average, I had pork with ginger and scallions, couldn't taste the ginger, and there was maybe half a scallion. The other meal was Thai chilli beef stir fry, which was basically in a sweet chilli sauce, not as we expected from the menu description. Sorry, but not a good experience, I would save my money and go elsewhere. Toilets are filthy 🤮

08/04/2026: Old tired bathroom with grout missing from tiles in major need of a refurbishment. Never a 4 star hotel. Bedroom also old fashioned. Whole place needs modernisation. Update, the hotel apologised and said I should not have been in room 212 as it should have been closed for renovations. The hotel kindly offered a full refund. I will update score after I stay in another room. Update Room 209, bathroom brand new

13/07/2026: 4 in 1 was really not great, chips were mushy and fried rice had very little flavour and felt like it was left out too long, the only decent thing was the sauce which was mediocre, service was good though.

05/06/2026: New yangs in my favourite Chinese takeaway It’s great food!! Loads for lunch the next day!! And is at a nice price!! Would definitely recommend 😊😊😊

24/02/2026: Never gonna go to this apache again, order got all mixed up and i was the only person ordering there at the moment, don't wanna know how it ends up when it's busy, got extra things that i didn't asked for, and no things i asked for, didn't even got a receipt to see what did i actually payed for over €60. Guy on the counter is either deaf or doesn't understand english,terrible

19/07/2026: Amazing view that no picture can do justice. Food is delicious and clearly made with care. We had the tagliatelle and maybe the best fish n chips we've had in a long time. Warm service. Will return. Thanks!

16/07/2026: Would not recommend there chips they are frozen, and not even good frozen. Part of the the slogan is, real food so we were expecting real chippy chips not frozen.

09/08/2026: We enjoyed an excellent sit down meal at Ocean Palace, Swinford. The choices were great, service was fast and friendly. Food was cooked perfectly; the duck was crispy with a beautiful plum sauce. The chilly and salt prawns were the star of the show; really mighty. We're already planning another visit!

05/05/2026: Excellent place Can't fault this Chinese. Really good clean decor Nice and warm and they tiled floor instead of the usual sticky carpets that places have was excellent. Food portions was perfect as was the food itself. Staff was good, the girl that served us was very quiet and just straight to the point but I'm not going to mark down on that. Really would recommend and will definitely be back

29/06/2026: One night at this Hotel was all I need to escape my daily routine ❤️ Receptionists were friendly and helpful. Shouts to Aishling, Leisure Centre Operations Administrator. Would love to visit again 🇩🇿 absolutely worth it

28/06/2026: So disappointed with the service. We had to wait 1 hour in the check in at 3pm as the room weren't ready (so the check in was at 4pm). It seems it was a confusion with the guests but they call me the day before to confirm it. Please avoid the bar and restaurant. We went with 2 kids (1 year and 4 years) for dinner and we had to wait for 1 hour (I'm not lying here) for terrible and cold food. If I were you just book to go to the swimming pool only as it is the best part of the hotel.

12/07/2026: They are trying to be dog friendly. Just call a few hours ahead, talk to the owner and she may make arrangements for you to sit Ina cordoned off area.

11/07/2026: Takeout food okay, maybe a bit highly priced. The only Chinese restaurant in 60 years that has no chop sticks... And you get a soup bit no spoon...

22/08/2026: Had a lunch, traditional roast with mash potatoes and veggies. Went early, quick service. Stayed at least 2h, I had to wait for my check-in nearby. Great value.

23/06/2026: Been eating frys since i was a child, very average , even the toast was poor.
