10/05/2025: Food is decently okay when dining in house. Takeaway is sweaty, soggy and expensive. Staff can be rude on the phone, on collection and at times in person. Theres never a good time to order on the phone as collection windows are delayed repeatedly. Either focus soley on in house dining or improve on collection but not both if can't you facilitate a conistent collection service. Cocktails are fun and nice but I don't think it is worth a repeat visit.

16/08/2024: I love this place I have been going there for a while now and they know me now so it just makes the atmosphere brighter! The food tastes amazing. Everyone is so kind and the price ranges €1 -€ 10 but the parking sometimes is hard to find

21/04/2025: We had a lovely Mother's Day meal in the Silver Tankard, 7 of us including 3 mums 😀, very relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff, one of the waiting staff was Ruby and she was so polite and helpful, my sister in law is Vegan and they were very good in the Silver Tankard at accommodating her requests, I had a caesar salad to start, followed by a Massamam curry with Chicken & a delicious apple pie and cappuccino to finish, food was great, our group were well satisfied and the service and price was very good too, we will definitely return, even though it was very busy, we were well looked after, 👍 😀

21/05/2025: Had a lovely meal in Caffreys Bar, Oldcastle on Saturday evening. Lovely atmosphere in the bar, with a great "buzz". The restarunt was busy, but the staff were very on the ball and organised a table for me as soon as we arrived. I opted for the fish from their new menu which is only just brand new and updated. My friend went for the steak which she said was cooked just as she had asked for. As usual the food was excellent (have been here many times before). The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Really couldn't recommend this place enough, and as always - will definitely be back very soon!

20/05/2025: Very obnoxious and rude staff!!! I had been to caffreys numerous times through the years however I noticed some of the food began to taste different so went less, they very recently came out with a new menu which some may know was reviewed by a popular influencer known as Conor Ryan. Upon watching the review and seeing the new menu me and my sister decided we would definitely check it out soon, which we then did while a friend who used to eat at caffreys when he would be in town came down from Dublin. We were all so excited to check it out but as soon as we walked in there were atleast 5 (or more) staff members all up against the bar talking, they looked at us, snickered, whispered, and did not interact with us at all, I walked in first and tried finding a seat, we accidentally sat down for a second until realising the table was reserved, we were looking around and not a single member of staff offered to help nor pointed us to a seat. My friend ended up asking and one of the girls, without even acknowledging us properly, with an attitude just pointed to the other side of the restaurant while the others stood back and judged, at that moment it dawned on me what was happening, however my friend and sister had already noticed as soon as we came in so my friend announced that they were rude and we collectively left. Very disappointing that a local business that’s been open for years treated us so poorly when we were just trying to support their business definitely won’t be going again, better places open now in the town anyways!

28/04/2025: Thank you so much to all the staff at The Village Hotel for looking after us so well for my sons 21st birthday celebrations on 26/04/2025. Your staff are amazing and could not do enough for us. Our meal was gorgeous and we had the best night. Thank you so much again

03/05/2025: Bit ridiculous if you ask week after week for the pistachio sandwich and it's always sold out until the girl on the counter tells you people always buy time in bulk the moment they come in. Same with gaming consoles you got a few prime examples of a human being greedy is f... Avoid Costa they only value the customers that buy their entire stock.

19/02/2025: I went in and I was immediately greeted by the beautiful waitress who also made my hot chocolate. She had such a bright smile and was so kind to me. The hot chocolate was lovely and they didn’t mind me studying there for 2 hours. The new owner is super friendly and makes the best sandwiches. The music is delightfulllll… good prices 🥹 I would visit here again 100%. I felt so welcome

17/04/2025: Went here for the first time recently and it was absolutely delicious from start to finish. We were served by a lovely friendly man who seemed delighted to have us there and made us feel like the only ones in the restaurant (we weren't). The food was gorgeous, and great value for money. Nicest peshawari naan and balti I've ever had too. 100/10 recommend, and I will definitely be back!

15/04/2025: We had 2 birthdays here recently, we did karting and bowling and then an after hours party in hucklberrys den. Fabulous staff throughout very good with the kids and really good partys very happy will be returning
