Harp Tavern
Sligo
16/08/2025: This place is a little jewel in the centre of sligo city. My family and I popped in for a drink and the place was buzzing, great atmosphere and what looked like really delicious food so we decided to get some dinner while we were there and all I can say is wow!!! The fish and chips were to die for, pizza was also delicious as was the sweet potatoe fries.
The real star of the show in this place though are the staff, Ann made us feel so welcome and is such a bubbly, chatty person. Every staff member we spoke to when ordering drinks, asking for another round, ordering our dinner and then paying our bill were very upbeat, good fun and knowledgeable about the menu, the area, the festival that was on in sligo at the time and nothing was too much hassle for them. (We are picky eaters so a couple of "without this and without that" happened) I would highly recommend coming here if you are in sligo, you will not be disappointed. Ann and staff made this place somewhere we will return to anytime we pass through sligo in future.
15/08/2025: Starters and pizza were good. Burger was completely different to menu description and I would have ordered something else had I been told. Service very poor, some servers were simply rude.

Eala Bhan
Sligo
18/08/2025: We dined at The Ella Bhan during our European vacation, and it did not disappoint. The food was exceptional, carefully crafted dishes made from the heart. The staff were warm, courteous, and genuinely friendly. We only wish we could dine there again! Highly recommended.
The desert was out of this world. We almost didn’t eat it as it was an art piece.
13/08/2025: An exceptional food experience in Sligo town 😀

Hargadons Bros
Sligo
25/08/2025: An average experience in what presents itself as one of Sligo's historic pubs. The atmosphere is quaint but dimly lit, the noise is excessive, and reservations are recommended.
The service is discreet (perhaps too much so). The dishes are traditional but neither excellent nor laudable. The beers are excellent.
17/08/2025: They had run out of oysters and mussels, but it was the evening of August 15th. That's the only reason I'm not giving the establishment a 5. Given the subsequent dinner in Sligo at Hooked (sad and poor), the 4 stars for both the Guinness stew and the baked salmon are well deserved.

Sligo Park Hotel & Leisure Club
Sligo
11/08/2025: Lovely family friendly hotel. Enjoyed the bar food.
10/08/2025: Clean comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. We were facilitated with early checkin and helped with transport.
About 40 minutes walk uphill from Sligo town centre but the weather was good so this wasn't an issue.

Flipside
Sligo
17/08/2025: Just waited a few minutes to be seated. Great burger but service can be better, I was never asked if everything was okay by the staff. Felt a bit forgotten alone at my table. Plus, the restaurant is very noisy (big groups, children, loud music).
15/08/2025: The burgers and fries were one of the best i ever tasted, try for yourself!

The Embassy Steakhouse
Sligo
28/07/2025: I had high hopes for this place when I walked in. Lovely decor and felt like a nice atmosphere.
I found the menu good and the prices were a little eye watering.
I had the prawns as the starter.
These were quite tasty and the portion size was just right for a starter.
On to the mains, I ordered the 40 day rib eye steak. An 8oz cut if I remember correctly was about €45.
I gave them the benefit of doubt, hoping it would be a tasty cut of meat.
Alas, it turned out to be very bland. It came out looking like a burger from Burger king. Call me old school, but a steak should be nicely pan fried and not char grilled.
I have had much nicer rib eye elsewhere and for about €10 cheaper too.
My advise to the embassy, although I know totally impractical, would be, make the price €50 and make the steak Wagyu. I would happily pay for a good cut of Wagyu any time.
I didn't have any desert so can't comment on them.
I liked that they had Erdinger to drink though.
Service was very good and staff were friendly and helpful. 5 out of 5 for the staff.
However if your looking for a tasty steak, I would probably try elsewhere.
14/07/2025: The Embassy Steakhouse delivered on every level. The atmosphere was warm and cosy – perfect for a relaxed evening out. As soon as I sat down, I was given a complimentary bread basket, which was a really nice touch while I waited for my food.
For starters, I had the mussels – they were excellent. Great flavour, and the sauce was rich and delicious without being too heavy. For the main, I went with the T-bone steak, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. The flavour was spot on, and the sides paired really well with the dish.
Overall, just really good food in a welcoming setting. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for quality dining in a comfortable atmosphere.

I and E shop
Sligo
03/06/2025: The best sweets shop we came across in our Ireland roadtrip. The sweets and candy were fresh and they had so many options! Very well priced as well, we got a full bag for 4€. Highly recommend checking out! Lots of options for everyone.
28/03/2025: Best candy store that we found in Ireland. You step in the door and it's immediately a blast to the past with the glass counter with drawers for them to give you whatever you are looking for by weight, along with all of the oldies / goodies that you haven't seen on a shelf in a while, mixed with some amazing chocolates.
The conversation with the mom / son duo about where we were from and our itinerary was great and they even offered a few tips that altered some of the end plans for the end of our trip and I'm so grateful.
We will definitely return the next time we are in Ireland.
