The best restaurants in Westmeath

07/07/2025: After a full weekend of tennis this was a great place to visit and relax and make plans for the next few weekends. It is not far from the tennis club either . Food was great, service was great and they have a good wine list.

13/06/2025: We dined at Thyme this evening (first time). The interior in beautiful shades of green is stunning and so inviting. We had the filet and the halibut dishes. The 4 courses were just perfect. Very creative in both presentation and the various tastes which complement each other. The service was excellent with very knowledgeable and friendly staff!!!

24/06/2025: A good night in Scanlons Pub for a charity event. The atmosphere was fun and friendly and service was good. Have to return to have a meal in the near future as the food looked and smelled excellent but they had stopped taking orders when we got there.

22/06/2025: Good food, was a busy Sunday so the staff kind of rushed us but otherwise a nice place for a meal.

18/06/2025: Came here as a Niall’s fan and it was the absolute best experience. They are the kindest and most thoughtful persons I’ve ever met. Highly HIGHLY recommend coming here, whether you’re fans or not.

07/06/2025: Just was to say a massive thank you to all the staff for making our day even more amazing , we travelled to Ireland for the day so my daughter could visit where Niall comes from . The staff here are amazing , we felt extremely welcomed and my daughter had smile from ear to ear , when we return some time in the future we all definitely be back so thank you all , keep doing what you’re doing

15/07/2025: The food is amazing - full of flavour and decent portion sizes. The staff are incredibly polite and even on their busiest days, the wait time is minimal. We booked a table in advance. Starter: Deep fried Brie with sweet chilli sauce & Goats cheese on a toasted ciabatta Main: Tikka fettuccine & Pasta primavera Dessert: Banoffee pie & Hot chocolate pudding & mint ice cream

07/07/2025: Food is excellent and the staff are brilliant. The only complaint I've ever had about Il Colosseo is how slow it takes to be served your food. This is ok for a date or romantic meal, but not so good when going for a family meal with kids

29/06/2025: We went on a Saturday evening for dinner as a special treat. From the start the service was poor to say the least, we waited over 20 mins for our order to be taken, I noticed that there was cutlery missing on the table and we had to ask for this to be replaced over the course of the meal. At no point were we asked if everything was ok throughout the meal or even if we wanted more drinks etc. When it came to desserts, we waited another 20 mins to order, the restaurant only had a few tables occupied at this point as it was close to closing time and staff were setting tables up for the following day’s service so we couldn’t understand the delay. When the desserts eventually arrived, one of them was not what was ordered but there was no point in asking for this to be fixed at that point as we were sick of waiting as we were over 2 hours there at this point. We seen other tables seated after us, receive a more speedy service and left before us. Thankfully the food we ordered was delicious but what was meant to be special evening turned out to be a poor experience and we left disappointed and most likely would not return.
