21/02/2026: Staff were lovely, really good ambiance in the restaurant. We chose the empanadas as a starter, they were incredibly fresh with fragrant and well seasoned meat inside. As a main we chose the shared ribeye which genuinely ended up being the most mouth-watering steak we had ever tasted. It was overwhelmingly flavourful, with 3 dipping choices. We additionally got the salad, fries and onion rings. Each dish was well presented and tasted divine. Recommend this place full heartedly. Best steak in Athlone !!

09/12/2025: This was truly a dream come true experience. The service here was so kind and helpful. We went to see all the Niall Horan stuff and we were truly amazed. The owners son showed us everything and helped us with all. We are absolutely delighted and very grateful. Sincerely I can’t recommend this place enough.

The traditional interior, warm atmosphere, and welcoming staff make you feel right at home. Great selection of whiskey and beer. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Athlone!

17/01/2026: I booked a table for four, for a girls catch up. It’s a good spot to meet when people are coming from multiple directions. (Sligo, Carlow and Dublin) The room was so warm and cosy. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and the food was exceptional. We had a fantastic catch up and there was no pressure on us to give up the table. Price of food was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this venue Thanks for a wonderful meal.

01/02/2026: My saughter and I stopped by Scanlons in Kinnegad to try their famous breakfast. We were not disappointed!!! I ordered a breakfast roll and my daughter the full irish breakfast. Our tea arrived within minutes by a friendly waitress who had a chat with us. There was a few in the pub and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. I enjoyed the breakfast roll with bacon, sausage, egg and black pudding and the irish breakfast was as expected a plate loaded with bacon , sausage, egg, black and white pudding, hash brown , beans with toast. We had a feast!!! The food waz hot, delicious, and the tea was gorgeous, just what we wanted on a cold rainy morning. Less than 20 euro for the breakfast for two was fantastic. Service was quick and super friendly. Scanlons are now our go to place for breakfast but we cant wait to try their lunch menu andvtheir early bird A la carte dinner menu. 100% recommended.

12/02/2026: Knew this place was excellent for food. Have stopped there before. So called in today and had full Irish breakfast. It was great value at €14, included tea and beautiful brown bread. Can highly recommend this place. There's more mushrooms hidden under the egg in the photograph ! 😊

11/02/2026: My second week here,highly recommended accommodation and food. Tuesday 10th February I had braised steak, absolutely top quality wow best ever. The sticky toffee pudding very tasty. Rooms warm and cosy. Staff of the best you'll ever meet. Highly recommended. I'll be here for 2 nights a week for a while. Love it here. Michelin class meals of the highest standards. The mixed grill i had last week was lovely ,breakfast,lunch and dinner in one. The vegetable soup awesome. Knickerbocker glory was outstanding. Highly recommended hotel.

30/12/2025: I visited this place on 29th December at around 3:15 pm intending to order the day’s special sandwich, but my experience was very disappointing. Instead of preparing it fresh, I saw the staff member take the sandwich straight from the refrigerator. I don’t understand how a “day’s special” can be sold from a fridge rather than being freshly made. On top of that, the girl behind the counter was using the same gloves to touch her phone, handle other items, and then serve food without changing them. This is extremely unhygienic and unacceptable in a food service environment. Due to the poor hygiene practices maintained by the food handler, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to others. After seeing this I couldn’t even eat the wraps that I order and had to dump. Unfortunately 17 euros that I spent there went straight to trash

30/12/2025: Really, this is one of the best Italian restaurants for miles. The food is incredible. The service is too class, no matter how busy they get, the service doesn't do of.... top marks all around, the staff are always friendly and humorous at times....

13/12/2025: We arrived (6persons) completely unprepared and without a booking. The floor manager greeted us so warmly and was able to accommodate us, despite being in under pressure in a full house of Christmas groups. Couldn't believe our luck, as it was our brothers birthday. Food was perfect and came out so fast. Great price and no fuss what so ever. They even surprised my brother with ice cream, a candle and sang him happy birthday, completely unexpected and so appreciated. Absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a wholesome and relaxed meal with lovely service. Will be going out of my way to go backsoon.... (I'll be sure to book ahead from now on)

09/11/2025: Brought our 9 year old daughter in at the weekend for her second ear piercing. There is so much more to Angel Art than meets the eye. We were brought upstairs by Angel to a large 2nd floor which was divided into smaller rooms so customers had a little bit of privacy. Angel was wonderful, explained everything in a child friendly way and made our daughter feel really at ease with her. The piercing was done with a needle which I wasn’t expecting and was done so quickly even our daughter was shocked that it was over and said that it was so much easier than when she had her ears pierced the first time with the gun. Angel also gave her a squishy as a distraction which she was delighted with. Would highly recommend Angel Art for children’s ear piercing. Our daughter had a wonderful experience.

10/10/2025: A wonderful quirky place. An atmosphere of calm, wonderful collection of new age stuff, incense in the air, kate bush on the sound system. I could spend all day there and not buy anything and leave with much more than I had going in. Great place with wonderful staff. 10/10.
