27/05/2025: We took a trip to Athlone to visit Thyme on a recommendation. Well worth it and we'll definitely be back. A lovely welcoming small dining room. Very friendly staff who are comfortable and confident speaking about the dishes. And what a meal. From start to finish it was beautifully presented but more importantly very very tasty. The halibut was fantastic. The sides amazing. And the price! They could easily charge more for that quality of food. What a treat. Thank you Thyme.

20/05/2025: I was travelling through Ireland on my own and had a stop in Mullingar. This pub is absolutely lovely. The owners, the staff and the people there are so kind and I felt very welcomed. Even though I was travelling on my own i didn’t feel alone there. I’d definitely recommend popping in there when you are in Mullingar! It’s a very original Irish experience; the beer is amazing and the nights there you’ll never forget!

26/04/2025: This is the nicest bar in all of Ireland. It’s clean, spacious, and has great service and selections. All the staff are warm and friendly.

06/06/2025: Had brunch and dinner here on 5th June on our way to and from Tina Turner musical matinee show.Arrived early for brunch but we were accomodated no problem. As we were a group of 47 and limited timewise we all had delicious vegetable soup with a fabulos selection of fresh sandwiches.This was followed by tea/ coffee and biscuits. For dinner at 7p.m.we had a choice of roast beef, chicken and mushroom vol au vont or cod.All served with veg& potato or salad & chips.It was all piping hot and very tasty.This was followed by apple crumble or sherry trifle. Again service and food was excellent.

02/06/2025: We were a group of 16 ladies from Canada in need of a quick stop during our tour. The owner was so gracious, opening up a special area just for us. Service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious with plenty of options. A wonderful spot—I’d happily bring a group here again!

28/05/2025: Absolutely exceptional! Gorgeous Bangkok style Street art plus signage and decor. Cozy cool atmosphere. Friendly accommodating, and at the top of their game staff! The food was amazing. Absolutely everything is extraordinary about this Thai restaurant. We are not at all surprised to see all of the many awards on the walls. Do not miss it!!

27/05/2025: Absolutely blown away by the Khao Soi here. Easily the best I’ve had anywhere, and that includes spots in the U.S. where we’ve come. Super creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced, with just the right heat. You can tell they put serious care into the flavors. The dining area also felt unexpectedly homey and reminded me of traveling through Southeast Asia. The bright yellow exterior made it such a cute stop as we found this as we walked along the street. Kin Khao Thai was such a gem to find in Athlone. Highly recommend for anyone looking for real Thai food that delivers way beyond expectations.

20/05/2025: Incredibly courteous. We arrived about 7 pm. The staff checked with the kitchen to see if it was too late for meals. Returned offering us lasagna or stir fry. We got each. The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly

04/05/2025: Simply a fabulous restaurant. Best steakhouse I have been to in years in all my travels . This is how a steak should taste and you have not had a proper steak until you have been to the 1810 steakhouse. From start to finish an amazing meal , great wine , great beer and great service. Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. You gotta try it , a true hidden gem

With its perfectly creamy pint of Guinness, this charming establishment offers a cozy atmosphere that welcomes you from the moment you step inside. The friendly staff go above and beyond to ensure you feel right at home, making your visit all the more enjoyable. Additionally, the bathrooms are impeccably clean, reflecting the attention to detail that defines this pub. Without a doubt, it's the best pub I've had the pleasure of visiting in town.

10/04/2025: Nice restaurant-pub that we stopped at when driving from Dublin to Galway. Parking just outside and close to the road so it's easy to stop here. Nice staff, Irish feeling and good value, the food tasted good and it was good value.

14/06/2025: I dont understand the hype of this place, really really poor service. All dishes came out and forgot my main and tried to blame it on a request that my partner had made some time after the order was taken. really disappointed. Also surely an authentic italian doesn't serve pineapple on pizza 😂

15/06/2025: It's the oldest pub in Ireland. I loved it; the decor is filled with old fishing rods, police patches, and lots of odds and ends. They have all kinds of beers and live music on certain days. There's paid street parking nearby.

30/05/2025: Have not stayed here but can highly recommend the food. The staff are second to none with their help and friendliness..... Up date ..2 years on and still the staff here are exceptional with their service and friendliness. Called in bit early but were made feel so welcome. Well done to all staff from the reception right through to the restaurant ...lovely people.

21/05/2025: Stayed here for a single night. the hotel was busy, friendly, clean, and the service was decent. The beds were comfortable and clean. Water was piping hot. Hotel is a bit dated, we couldn't get a spot in the hotel car park either but all in all it was a great spot, good breakfast,.good drink amd friendly staff

22/04/2025: Style Over Substance — A Disappointing Experience Visited recently and left thoroughly underwhelmed. This cafe seems far more interested in curating an Instagram-friendly image than delivering anything of actual culinary merit or customer service. I ordered the pulled pork wrap, which came with a sharp mature white cheddar — a bizarre and jarring choice that completely overpowered the pork. My wife's chicken pesto sandwich suffered the same fate: again, sharp cheddar. Why not use something that actually complements pesto, like mozzarella? It’s as if the ingredients were chosen by someone who’s never tasted them together. The accompanying salad was a sad afterthought — either undressed or so lightly dressed that it tasted of absolutely nothing. The coleslaw, meanwhile, was a vivid pink thanks to beetroot juice (I assume), but offered no flavour to justify the visual gimmick. Just another case of style over substance. Service didn’t save the experience either. We walked in to find several dirty tables, and while they were eventually wiped, it was more of a smear job than a clean — food debris was casually pushed onto the floor rather than properly cleared. Staff training, clearly, is minimal at best. To top it off, the menu was virtually unreadable. A dark brown background with black text? Who thought that was a good idea? Anyone with even mild visual impairment would struggle. Accessibility clearly isn’t a concern here. In short, this place is all flash and no flavour — quite literally. Avoid if you actually care about food, service, or being able to read what you’re ordering.

02/06/2025: We stayed across the road from weird so we ate lunch and dinner here. Every meal was 10 out of 10. The steak was perfectly cooked, the chicken was beautiful, wings fab, sea food chowder amazing to the home baked bread and all the home made deserts were all delicious. Would highly recommend Weirs. The service was quick and all the staff so friendly. A gem in a small village.

28/03/2025: I had my daughters ears pierced here a couple of months ago. Joanne was amazing with her! She was very patient with my 7 year old daughter and took her time. My daughter's ear looked as if she had always had them done. She's had no infection, and they have healed perfectly. I would definitely recommend Angel Art for piercing! 💚

25/05/2025: Dog friendly restaurant. My dog was allowed in, even given a treat from the chef. Food was nice, staff were extremely nice. I had a ginger ale and it was from the local area. It's a very nice way of doing business! Price is very reasonable as well. Will definitely come back with our dog.
