05/05/2025: Me and my boyfriend were here for dinner on Bank Holiday Sunday night. From start to finish, it was top class. The staff were very attentive, polite, and gave us great advice on the menu. The food was out of this world! We started with the special prawn salad and a spicy & sour beef broth soup – my boyfriend said the soup was absolutely beautiful and full of flavour. For mains, he had the chicken chili basil, and I went with the cod special – absolutely gorgeous, perfectly cooked, and bursting with taste. Generous portions too – loads of rice, and we ordered an extra portion of chips. I also had two glasses of the house Chardonnay, which was lovely. Everything was perfect – food, service, atmosphere. I would highly recommend Kin Cow to anyone visiting Athlone. This is a real, authentic Thai restaurant that should not be missed – if you can get a booking! - Mariana Vasylyk

15/04/2025: This is a absolute must on your trip to Ireland!!! The oldest pub in Ireland, guiness world record. Get a whiskey tasting and Timmy will talk your ear off. Trust me, you could listen to him tell you stories for hours. Bring your service patch, their wall was fantastic. In the shadow boxes are the original walls from 900BC. Beautiful Shannon river right beside the side bar that the town was built around. Do skip this spot.

04/05/2025: Simply a fabulous restaurant. Best steakhouse I have been to in years in all my travels . This is how a steak should taste and you have not had a proper steak until you have been to the 1810 steakhouse. From start to finish an amazing meal , great wine , great beer and great service. Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. You gotta try it , a true hidden gem

22/04/2025: Style Over Substance — A Disappointing Experience Visited recently and left thoroughly underwhelmed. This cafe seems far more interested in curating an Instagram-friendly image than delivering anything of actual culinary merit or customer service. I ordered the pulled pork wrap, which came with a sharp mature white cheddar — a bizarre and jarring choice that completely overpowered the pork. My wife's chicken pesto sandwich suffered the same fate: again, sharp cheddar. Why not use something that actually complements pesto, like mozzarella? It’s as if the ingredients were chosen by someone who’s never tasted them together. The accompanying salad was a sad afterthought — either undressed or so lightly dressed that it tasted of absolutely nothing. The coleslaw, meanwhile, was a vivid pink thanks to beetroot juice (I assume), but offered no flavour to justify the visual gimmick. Just another case of style over substance. Service didn’t save the experience either. We walked in to find several dirty tables, and while they were eventually wiped, it was more of a smear job than a clean — food debris was casually pushed onto the floor rather than properly cleared. Staff training, clearly, is minimal at best. To top it off, the menu was virtually unreadable. A dark brown background with black text? Who thought that was a good idea? Anyone with even mild visual impairment would struggle. Accessibility clearly isn’t a concern here. In short, this place is all flash and no flavour — quite literally. Avoid if you actually care about food, service, or being able to read what you’re ordering.

21/04/2025: We were on the road from Dublin to Galway and stopped in this town because we didn’t know where to eat and were hungry. Almost everything was closed or looked really sad and then we found this gem! The food is delicious, the service is very nice and very good vibes overall! Such a nice surprise! If you are in the neighborhood you should definitely stop!

10/04/2025: Nice restaurant-pub that we stopped at when driving from Dublin to Galway. Parking just outside and close to the road so it's easy to stop here. Nice staff, Irish feeling and good value, the food tasted good and it was good value.

21/03/2025: This establishment has excellent service and interior. You can find good food, drinks, and comfort here at any time of the year. This place is especially wonderful during the New Year holidays. That is why it is in the TOP 3 of my favorite pubs in Athlone. In my opinion, it's not a cheap PAB.

20/04/2025: Great gluten free options. (Pancakes, scones, French toast etc) Staff were nice but got my order slightly wrong. However this was still delicious. Alight markdown. My partner had pancakes with bacon and they were divine. Definitely stop here if passing through Athlone.

03/05/2025: I was in Athlone on a shopping trip and stopped here for Elevenses, a coffee and scone. I was glad I did, the staff were so friendly.An American tourist popped in for a coffee and to ask about parking in the area.one of the staff was super helpful, even going so far as to cross the street to help him with the ticket machine. The scone was lovely and fresh, I will definitely return and stay longer next time. Congrats on great service.

02/05/2025: Both the best coffee and the best hot chocolate we had during our trip. Very cozy coffee, many plant-based milk alternatives, a cozy atmosphere, and the snacks and sweets were also delicious. A definite recommendation!

29/04/2025: I was in the restaurant at the weekend. Some bright spark has introduced the most un customer friendly QR code scan system to order your food. Its clumsy, overly complicated and spoiled the whole visit. If you want to go cashless I don't have a problem, give the waitress a smart pad and let her do her thing. The old lady on the table beside us was too polite to just get up and leave she just sat there staring at the QR code and the phone.Well done on messing up a great little cafe. I will never be going back. Never. NEVER.

28/04/2025: Wish I could give this place 10 stars for all categories. Food is excellent. Enjoyed pancakes, scones and chai tea served by the most friendly staff ever. Will return tomorrow.

25/04/2025: This is a proper old school pub. Definitely call in for a pint if you're visiting Athlone. Very nice staff and patrons.

23/04/2025: The 2 man band that were playing were unbelievable, they could sing any song and make it sound excellent! They also interacted well with the crowd. I tried 2 different cocktails, and they were both delicious.

18/02/2025: I’m heartbroken to be saying goodbye to Fine. For more than 5 years, I've worked just a few steps from this place and throughout the years it has felt like more than just a coffee shop to me. The coffee? The best in town as said by many. The food? Delicious and comforting. The vibes? exquisite and cosy. But what truly made Fine special was the people. Ciaran,Laura, Axel, Laoise, Gary, Claire, Sinead, Emily, Shane and many other lovely staff members not only kept me well-fed but also have provided a warm, welcoming space where I’ve started my mornings, taken many many breaks, vented, laughed, ended my day, the team who knew to be reaching for the teabags and oat milk before I was in the door and who always greeted me and said goodbye with a smile, and made every visit feel like home. It’s hard to imagine my routine without this place, and I know I’m not alone in saying that Fine will be deeply missed. Thank you for everything—you’ve created something truly special, and I wish you all the best in your next chapter. ❤️
