The best restaurants in Cork city council

13/08/2025: I went to Bean and Leaf last Thursday for my usual morning coffee. A server (turned out to be the manager) was walking from the floor, to the coffee station. I said 'excuse me, can you please give me the code for the (outer door) of the bathroom. She did not reply, so I asked again for the code. 'You don't need the code, there are two people in the bathroom, stand at the door, and they'll let you in when they come out.' I made three more requests for the code - on the fourth, she told me the code numbers, through clenched teeth, barely audible. She told me also - if you hadn't lost the receipt, you wouldn't need to ask for it!!! Incredible. A man then stood up from his sat, fists clenched, red furious face, clearly unable to control his rage. Are you planning to assault me, I asked? because I will have the police here, fast. This woman, whose name is Ana, instigated this entire incident, putting me in danger of violence. Just for arguing with a customer for that length should be enough to fire her. Her boss, Bill, called me, and excused her with his every word. 'A misunderstanding, he said. Bill could not tell WHAT WAS THE MISUNDERSTANDING? HER REFUSAL TO GIVE ME THE CODE, CAUSED THE INCIDENT, THAT COULD VERY EASILY HAVE LED TO VIOLENCE - NOTHING ELSE. ITS EITHER ELDER ABUSE, MAN HATE, OR HOMOPHOBIA. SHE IS CLEARLY MALICOUS, AND SHE KNOWS SHE WILL GET AWAY WITH IT. THE WHOLE THING WAS HORRIBLE AND UPSETTING. PADDY FITZPATRICK. SHANDON. CORK CITY.

06/08/2025: Lovely food and hugh portions. Very friendly staff. Defo a pub atmosphere rather than a resturant but worked for me as they still had a reserved area for people eating.

24/08/2025: One female staff very rude and condescending, ruined my first experience even ignored me whilst I was in the Que and served other man before me . Food was not great .

08/06/2025: The best food I've had in a while. Best cocktail I've ever had. Best music while we were eating. Absolutely criminal why there wasn't a queue out the door. That said we tried to book a table and it said none available, turned up on the off chance and the place was empty. Best food/drink /music ever! So happy 🤤🤤🤤 (I would fight people for the beef tacos!)

05/08/2025: Cillian is an excellent barman and has great interaction with both customers and colleagues. The atmosphere was very relaxed and jolly with interjections of harmless banter while staff moved with purpose. I was well impressed.

14/08/2025: I tried the tofu/udon option, it was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff :)

17/05/2025: The worst sushi I've ever eaten, nothing is fresh and the staff is a bit bored! I don't recommend it in any way!

02/08/2025: Interesting museum. It's very small and contains a lot of exhibits – unfortunately, many of them without any explanations. For example, at the entrance, there are many photos on a screen, but the information is lacking. Overall, the museum could use at least twice as much space, and the exhibition needs to be made much more user-friendly. It's very noisy in the space (a former church). The café is nice, with delicious cakes and friendly staff. There's a small garden with a pond at the back.

25/07/2025: Didn't actually visit the museum just went in for lunch. The cafe is excellent. I did walk many of the mining trails and the information plaques were very good.

27/03/2025: Great pub with very friendly staff outstanding for all sports and only €4.90 a pint before 7 o clock 7 days a week

29/07/2025: I really used to like the sliverkey but its has changed. The food is only ok. For what you are paying, The atmosphere is strange. Not at all welcoming, The girls serving look like they dont want to be there and definitely dont look like they like their job

11/07/2025: Quick and friendly service. We love coming here for a slice or two after a being out in the pub. Had the margherita and veg slices and they were great.

09/07/2025: Really great workers especially late at night, the patience they have for late night customers is unparalleled and is my go to in Cork because of it, wonderful service in general

02/08/2025: I usually always get a sandwich here for lunch, the sandwiches are always brilliant, the coffees are great and the staff are always lovely and friendly. (Pictures of various sandwiches I have got there before)
