It's mediocre.
21/09/2025: What a find. Walk up the stairs to a bar back in time. The OG wooden floors and tables and bar make the vibe on point. And the drinks are top notch. We ordered off menu and was no problem.

Spacious rooms , friendly
Staff. Night porter Don is a true legend with over 20 years service
The “buzz” in the hotel is fairly flat not what it used to be
A bit of live music on a Saturday wouldn’t be too much to arrange , I’d also actually
Love if they also moved the TVs in the bar they are in such akward locations it’s nearly a struggle to watch !
People give out about the location , too hilly etc but this is cork ? Isint it all hills ?! Walk into town is grand out and beautiful buildings to admire
One thing that I have to mention is the hot breakfast. Sorry guys it just doesn’t cut the mustard and I hate to say it but I have to be honest.
Rashers : that cheap kind with loads of fat and aren’t cooked enough
Sausages : cheap processed sausages.
Fried eggs ; there are none
Bread : aldi bloomer bread for toast some homemade bread would be far nicer and it’s cheap to make .
I still love the hotel , the location , the building and of course Don but don’t pay for the breakfast you will be disappointed
Can’t wait for next stay already
09/10/2025: Rooms are decent with balconies but TVs need updating, remotes didnt work, even after I asked for it to be changed. Apparently theyre getting updated soon.

To the kindness and generosity of the manager on shift on the night - Mike. All our guests were raving about what a fantastic night it was and how beautiful the function room was. The food was amazing and plentiful. I wouldn’t hesitate to have another event in The Briar Rose in the future.
5 stars across the board. A special thanks again to Abbie & Mike.

18/09/2025: Wonderful place with variety of seating options and cusines to suit your needs. Great quality and quantity of food with reasonable prices and reccomended for evenings where you would love to watch a game on a huge screen with friends and family

13/10/2025: Stopped by The Glass House at the Montenotte Hotel in Cork for drinks, and it’s exactly the kind of spot you want on a sunny afternoon. The view is incredible especially if you sit outside, you can see almost the entire city, which makes for the perfect backdrop. 🌞🍹
I went with a cocktail and a small plate, and both were delightful well-made, refreshing, and perfect for a leisurely sip while taking in the view. The staff were attentive and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, it’s a great spot for drinks with a view. Nothing over the top just good drinks, stunning scenery, and a relaxed atmosphere.

03/10/2025: Not long after a collection order, family Thursday deal, wings, burger, garlic bread with cheese, baguette with chips and a drink.
Service was spot on from phone order to collection, friendly staff and a nice girl even opened the door when I was leaving.
The food was absolutely banging, if Mr Donatello himself walked in the door and asked what could be done better I genuinely wouldn't have an answer, absolutely not one fault could be found with any of the food, from one chef to another 👏👏👏👏👏👏 keep her lit
06/09/2025: Who ever was on shift tonight (5th September) hats off to the cooks. Tonight's baguette was the nicest baguette i have had from donatellos in a long time. Ingredients all tasted so fresh and ratios of toppings in baguette was perfect. Absolutely beautiful, hopefuly high standard keeps up 👏🙏

08/09/2025: Really nice cafe and great deal for açai lovers. An açai bowl (that you get to pick the contents of) and ANY coffee for €12. The açai is nice but not a strong flavour so that may be a deterrent for some. Coffee is good enough and they are generous with syrup. The toastie is one of the cheapest in cork (€5.50-€6.50) and it is nice quality. The cafe is dog friendly which is great especially if you’re walking at the lough. Would recommend!

02/08/2025: Interesting museum. It's very small and contains a lot of exhibits – unfortunately, many of them without any explanations. For example, at the entrance, there are many photos on a screen, but the information is lacking. Overall, the museum could use at least twice as much space, and the exhibition needs to be made much more user-friendly.
It's very noisy in the space (a former church).
The café is nice, with delicious cakes and friendly staff. There's a small garden with a pond at the back.
25/07/2025: Didn't actually visit the museum just went in for lunch. The cafe is excellent. I did walk many of the mining trails and the information plaques were very good.
