12/01/2025: I am ABSOLUTELY APPALLED by the service my family member got today !! We are regulars for years and that is the way they were treated today, and for it the be the owner to have that reaction towards a regular customer is an absolute disgrace. The ladies that work there are fantastic they always greet you with a smile, but safe to say because of the owner!! they will NOT be getting a thing from us after that. I’m sickened!!

08/09/2025: We had the loveliest young lady serve us yesterday. She was chatty and polite offered us iced water with our lunch, so annoyed I didn’t get her name. But we will be back The soup and salad bagel were delicious and for €21,90 we were full all day.

12/04/2025: The Southern Star is a lovely little bar. A small front pub area with some secluded tables, an area towards the back with ledges against the wall, a pool table (with terrible cues,) and a nice smoking area sitting above the South Link. It’s a little on the expensive side but what you pay for the booze is more than made up for with the atmosphere and setting. They were happy for me to taste the wine (a Pinot noir) while a woman I met there that night was only delighted to let me taste her rosé. Both wines were superb and it’s telling the people were relaxed enough straight from my arrival to share their drinks. They had the Manchester United game on the TV and I’m sure they show the rugby as well. I was hungry and asked for some Scampi Fries but they didn’t have them. Instead they gave me a free bag of Snax. Some friends (one a Jameson drinker) are interested in going, too, and I told them the burgers looked exceptional value. The only questions are when the food truck is open, if they do chips, and the whiskey drinker wanted to know if you get chips with your burger? I think she wants to dip into her partner’s grub... A warm and cosy bar — with space for a smoke if needed — it’s a pub I’d love to take my nearly seventy year old mother to to watch a Munster game, or my buddies who need a break from their kids (or they could bring their kids knowing it’s a fine family friendly place.) Me Mam would definitely love it and my buddies already do; as did I on my night in there. Patti Smith and Black Sabbath playing on the speakers was just the icing on the cake, me bopping away! I’ll be back, if they’ll have me!

17/07/2025: The worst, by a country mile, of any take away I've ever come across world wide!!!!! Waited oner 1.2 hours for Delivery even though we were 500m from the restaurant. Food was cold and soggy and tasted like crap!!!! Chicken balls the size of marbles.... STAY AWAY... Now I have to cook something else because I'm starving...

31/07/2025: really rude staff members - saw one call a girl horrible names and laugh at her for no reason - it was really strange and made me lose all respect for the place

17/06/2025: Monday 16th of june, the bar was closed, this was about 9pm

10/04/2025: The place was clean and the girl behind the bar gave excellent service being able to serve everyone very fast and at the same time, she also knew how to work the customers having all at the bar chatting to her and each other as if it was a big meet up of all old friends. Great night out and would highly recommend.

12/08/2025: Had a fantastic time in this bar last night! Not many places offer live music on a Monday night, but this was one of them and the singer (Ricky Kelleher) was brilliant! Great atmosphere and a very friendly barman. Definitely worth checking out, especially if Ricky is playing!

08/07/2025: JJ Walshs pub nothing to write home about we went in for a few pints of Guinness as usual pints just ok but €6.20 was the most expensive pint we came across in Cork infact the dearest in lreland and we have been to many.Not much of an atmosphere few bits and pieces in Michael Collins all and all would not be rushing back.

12/06/2025: I love Costa coffee, but the last time I went for a cappuccino, the milk was a bit flat and wattery, so a little disappointed

25/05/2025: Love their iced whipped lattes but the place is always so loud with the music and coffee machines so you have to shout your order and hope that they get it right.

15/08/2025: I’ve been going to Roosters for years and it was consistently good however I’ve visited twice in the last month once in Blackpool and once in Douglas and I’ve been so disappointed. In Blackpool I paid for x2 butterfly chicken wraps and only got given singles, we had been waiting so long for the food we didn’t bother complaining. In Douglas yesterday I got a chicken Caesar salad and chips, what was there of the chicken was like rubber it wasn’t edible and they forgot my chips nor did we get offered if we wanted refills. Very disappointing spending 50€ on a meal here and twice I left annoyed.
