The best restaurants in Cork

01/12/2024: Myself and my husband have recently moved to Douglas Cork and so, we were looking for tasty and comforting food while we were settling into the new house. We found Soba on the Deliveroo app and we fell absolutely in love with your food, our favourite dishes are the green and red curry, the red Tom kha gai and the pad Thai too. You won’t regret giving Soba a try. The only problem is you might get addicted to it.

15/11/2024: Didn’t get what I ordered and when I queried it the guy laughed and moved onto the next person. We were hungry so took the food anyway which was extremely disappointing. Received soggy chips mixed with noodles, tough and dry chicken and the curry sauce had separated and was very oily. Chips were like they were shaved off a shoe. Very disappointing will not return.

01/12/2024: Ordered food for delivery on the Apache website tonight and when the delivery driver knocked on my door he tried to pull the handle on my door to open it. When I opened the door his excuse was that “he is very busy and I didn’t answer” he knocked once and I came straight to the door. The reason why I didn’t answer within 1 second is because I live in an apartment and I have stairs to get down. Frightening that a random stranger tried to open my door, and an absolute cheek aswell. To top it off I ordered a portion of mini cheese and onion pies and was given a portion of potato pies instead. Tried to ring them, no answer. Any wonder people are going to dominos instead when this is what you’re dealing with.

11/11/2024: I went to Blue House Coffee 1 month and a half ago. I didn’t take the time before to leave a review but it was important to me to do it. I went there one early morning with a friend after a difficult night at a hostel, and we were extremely well received by the man who works there, who chatted and laughed with us. The atmosphere was very soothing, with a great playlist, the cafés and the pastries were delicious. I wanted to thank you again, for your kindness that day, which truly touched me. These are the small moments we remember. Wishing you all the best.

19/12/2024: Lovely old bar here, great pint of Beamish here and a fine big space for you and your friends to enjoy a pint and a chat in while you listen to some nice background tunes. Suitable for all group sizes, or on your own for a swift one after work before you get the bus home.

24/07/2024: Nice pub. Good atmosphere. Service was pretty slow, but there was a birthday party so I'm willing to believe that was the reason. The problem for me was the lack of vegetarian options: the only vegetarian options were a plate of pesto pasta and 2 pizzas. As an Italian visiting Ireland, I'm not going to a "traditional Irish pub" to eat Italian food. I expected at least one slightly typical vegetarian option (even a burger would have made it tbh). My boyfriend's stew was excellent though. Fair prices for a fancy Irish pub. Big extra point for the desserts which were excellent.

12/11/2024: As always, how can one go wrong with this Cork institution. Great food served fresh at reasonable prices. Staff are down to earth and friendly.

07/11/2024: Had food here on numerous occasions over the last couple of years, disappointed, the chips are like rocks, chicken tastes like its been sitting there for a week, we go again hoping its gotten better but never does. I won't be eating here anymore, just had food now, again its ridiculous.

12/11/2024: I recently dined at this "restaurant" and was extremely disappointed. First off, there were no vegan options and only one vegetarian choice, which is pretty limiting for a place that claims to cater to diverse diets. We had to wait an eternity to get served, and then the food took forever to arrive. To make matters worse, my coffee was forgotten because the server didn’t bother to take our order down properly. When the food finally came, I was shocked by the tiny portion sizes that didn’t match what was described on the menu. My avocado on toast was soggy and tasted bland, like it had been sitting around for ages. It seemed like the avocado was pre-made, probably store-bought, and topped with some ridiculously spicy chilies that weren’t mentioned anywhere. For the price we paid, I expected something better, but it was pretty expensive and lacked any real flavor. I voiced my concerns to the staff, but they didn’t even apologise; they just took it off the bill without any acknowledgment of how bad the experience was. Overall, it was absolutely disgusting and inedible. The staff didn’t attend to us well at all, and I left feeling completely dissatisfied. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's a shame that restaurants continue to get away with this, it's not about quality anymore and the chefs don't even care about their work.

16/11/2024: Food is grand but customer service is horrible, can’t even see if your food is done without one of the chefs giving out about “staring at him” and saying “I don’t know what you do in your country but we don’t stare at people” and getting aggressive. Unprofessional.

15/11/2024: We had dinner at Nando's out of curiosity. The place isn't bad and offers a wide choice, but it's actually nothing special and the food is okay. Excellent for various price ranges

10/11/2024: Such a disappointing bottomless brunch... I went with friends last Saturday to do bottomless brunch expecting music and good atmosphere ambient. They don't inform you but DJ does start at 2pm, so if you go at 12 pm, you will find a sad and quiet atmosphere ( not what you are looking for when going bottomless right?). Food was nothing special, chicken was dry.... But I had not high expectations on food tbh. However the fact the DJ started at 2pm and they don't tell you when booking is a rip-off, I'm sorry... Will not repeat and will not recommend.

28/10/2024: Love the mix of different age groups in the Crawford. Basically, you can't be too young (within legal limits) or too old!! Music at weekends, also great place for party with finger food provided by bar ... must be arranged in advance!
