07/01/2026: Stayed here for a one night getaway with my husband with spa, 4 course dinner and breakfast. Loved the spa's thermal suites, and the hotel. It was a proper hotel where they still provided slippers, robe and the little toiletries. I have missed those in my recent travels. The food at the restaurant was amazing and the service was awesome. We got on with the service manager Kieran (sorry if I spelled his name incorrectly) and he was so easy to talk to and a really nice fellow. Would 100% recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway. You won't be disappointed.

02/01/2026: This is a 2 star hotel with a 4 star reception area. Very disappointed with the Maryborough from the moment we left the reception area. The entire hotel is just run down. The rooms where very gruby with handprints, chips and paint splatter on the walls (see photos). Some of the light switches just didn't work either. The switch for the reading light didn't work on my side but did on my partners. As you can see in the pics, very amateur wiring done on the back of the headboard. Our room was headboard to headboard with the adjacent room which must also have had the same botch job done of sealing the wall as we could hear every word that was said in the other room. Spa was what really drove me to write this review. Very very unkept, not dirty, just unkept. Thermal room had a plastic bag and 2 cups floating in the water which I had to bin. The whole time we waited for our treatments not one member of staff came in to do a check, or clean. Relaxation beds were broken and gruby. The service in general was very very poor. Breakfast has a set menu but good luck getting anyone to take your order, and god forbid you ask for something additional because you will be in for a long wait. Staff write down your order and just never come back. Simple things like "can I get ketchup" just don't happen until the 4th time asking. Overall the staff were rude and unhelpful, not making room to move in the bar, or restaurant just barging passed because what they are doing is very important. They aren't very welcoming either. If you're unhappy working over new years get another job.

26/10/2025: I never got to go in, but locals will rant and rave about this place. We rang the doorbell and were greeted by an amazing woman. Sadly they had no more room left, but she was the sweetest person. Hopefully we can visit again soon, and have an amazing pint (which every waitress and waiter told us is the best place to have one)

08/10/2025: Really delicious meal. Seafood chowder and cauliflower steak were both excellent. My wife enjoyed her Indian, though the naan was sub par. Nice space too.

05/10/2025: Very nicely decorated. Friendly service. Really tasty food. The signature pie was amazing, as were the glazed root vegetables. Would gladly come back!

29/10/2025: Good atmosphere! The resident cocktail maker was not present but the fella behind the bar did his best and produced some top quality cocktails for us. Staff are incredibly sound.

03/11/2025: Ordered a hot chocolate with kinder Buenos sauce and cream. €5.40. The cream and sauce were very nice but the hot chocolate had no flavour to it at all. I went back with it and asked what was used to make it because I cant taste anything and they apologised but did nothing else.

21/12/2025: One of my favourite pubs in the city! The beer garden is huge and such a vibe during the summer. Wide selection of drink. The (I think) Australian bouncer is so lovely and funny!!

08/12/2025: Our little troupe of geriatric walkers booked our Christmas night out in "Deep South" and from the first contact to the last we were met with outstanding hospitality and real appreciation for the custom. As the organiser, I have to give a special mention to Alannah who was absolutely superb and for whom no detail was too small, even though we were only a group of 13 and there were some big company nights on as well. We were also asked if anyone had any special dietary requirements. As a party venue I would highly recommend "Deep South" and, whoever is organising next year's gig, I imagine there will be no complaints if we return for the next instalment.

01/01/2026: Food can be nice, but I've had so many cases of I ordered the food and though "that was not worth it" your basically paying nearly 30 euros to have a curry with 4 pieces of meat and sauce and rice Also I strongly suspect that when you order on just eat they give you a smaller portion and less meat then if you sit in.

30/11/2025: Disappointing Experience Despite Good Reviews I visited this restaurant with my friend on Sunday, 30th November at around 4:15 PM. The place was almost empty, with only two tables occupied, yet no one welcomed us when we walked in. We had to wait for a while just to get someone’s attention. We ordered Chicken Tikka and Barbeque Masala Chicken Wings. The Chicken Tikka cost €8.90 for just 4 pieces, and the Barbeque Masala Wings were €7.90 for very small wings. For the price, both the portion size and taste were disappointing. The service made the experience even worse. No one checked on us after serving the food, and despite waving to call someone, nobody responded. Because of the slow service, lack of attention, and poor value for money, we didn’t even feel like ordering the main course. I eventually had to walk to the counter to pay the bill myself. I noticed many 5-star reviews, but honestly, my experience didn’t match that at all. Maybe some customers are treated differently, but for us, the visit was far from satisfying.

25/12/2025: First time being here last week , vibes were so fab , lovely atmosphere, staff were lovely , they were understaffed and kept us up to date with the delay and gave us some crisps to nibble while waiting for food , the croquettes were Devine and deserts lovely , we will define be back would recommend for date night 💙

23/12/2025: Lots of room for improvement... I am not sure if the chef that was working the night we dined was trained. Or maybe someone had just described the dishes down the phone to them, but it really was very poor. The patatas bravas had not seen a frier, the chicken tasted boiled and then reheated, while the prawns contorted themselves into curly fries from the intense heat they were cooked in. The wait staff were lovely in fairness to them, and did lots of apologizing for their kitchen. Neither the food or the wine (likely from carry out across the road) set them up for success. Won't be recommending, and definitely won't be going back. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Chinese across the road instead, it probably doesn't have a floor of towels soaking up God knows what in the bathroom.

30/11/2025: Gorgeous shop and teas. Was extremely accommodating for an initial misplaced order now their Dreamcatcher tea is an integral part of my nighttime routine. Their products are high quality, well priced, and delivered with excellent service. Highly recommended.

08/10/2024: Favorite chip shop of mine over more than a decade of visiting Cork on occasion. With that said my last visit a few weeks ago ended up with them giving me the wrong order that I did not realize was the case until long away from the shop. Chicken supper instead of the Cod Supper that I ordered. It was still good but it sad that I didn't get one last Cod Supper before they shut down for good this past weekend.
