04/10/2024: Great service, Good Coffee & Cakes to die for! Our Pain au chocolat were so good! Our mouths were watering just looking at the variety available. Pity we are not staying longer!

29/09/2024: I go here a lot of mornings to get a little sweet treat to start my day. The pastries are all STUNNING! Would definitely recommend the cow tart. Also for something savoury would recommend the vegetarian croissant. I don’t like the coffee here tbh but sure you can just get your food here and coffee somewhere else. Staff are always friendly. And it’s good value for money. Used to be incredibly cheap a few years ago when they opened but prices have gone up a bit now but still great value 😊🥐🥮 I just have one request - I would LOVE if they started serving canelés!! I’ve been craving them lately even though I only ever tried them a few years ago when I was in Bordeaux but omg if they started serving these I would buy one every single day I stg 😭

09/11/2024: Got the Pho but was not authentic pho at all. I understand the ingredients aren’t the same or something but I’ve gotten pho in Ireland recently which was delicious (def not here). Staff could not provide me with fresh chillis and tried to charge me €2 for extra chilli oil. I understand it’s a Malay restaurant and I’m sure the Malay food is great but please don’t serve Viet food if you don’t know how to make it. I spent €19.40 on what I thought was pho but wasn’t! Tables were also strangely sticky.

13/09/2024: Popped in for a bit of lunch. There was a good selection of sandwiches, wraps, and other stuff in breads available. There is also a selection of sweet treats as well. The restaurant is nicely decorated and comfortable. I got a chicken tika wrap and a caramel square, and my wife got a tuna sandwich. The price came to around €22 which considering the size of the items and tiny side salads on the plates, was steep. The food tasted ok, but I would say bot worth the price. Overall, I can't say I would be back again.

08/09/2024: I liked this place until I understood that I paid €5.50 for a small piece of cake. As I feel it is ridiculously expensive. Thereafter I decided I wouldn't buy anything without asking the price. The staff and the place is nice though.

15/09/2024: Smiling staff, nice warm chocolate fudge cake & cappuccino with acceptable prices. Not a luxury interior but it's a nice place in a small village.

20/10/2024: Great pub, darts board and pool table for entertainment purposes, cosy corners and beer garden out the back for a sunny pint. Staff are incredibly friendly

24/10/2024: Legitimately the best Mochas I have ever had. To the point where I only buy my beans from them and asked them what chocolate they used so I could purchase my own for home.

03/09/2024: Yummy coffee in a really cool little setting. The beautiful lady serving me was so friendly and makes beautiful latte art! Thank you.

28/10/2024: We were a party of 6 and booked the table in the restaurant upstairs . I had to call in to make the reservation as the online reservation system was not working and 3 of us tried to book online . We arrived at 8 pm and went upstairs only to find the restaurant was in darkness and no customers or staff present . We next into the bar and had to wait 20 minutes where a gentleman took our details and disappeared. I then spoke to another member of staff where she said he is preparing the table and turning the lights on . We left the premises after standing around for 30 minutes. There was no apology from anybody and then I got an email asking if we enjoyed our meal .I could not recommend the East Village for food and it looks like the premises is likely to close permanently . All of the other bars and restaurants in Douglas were full on the same night during the Jazz Festival yet the East Village Restaurant was closed and the downstairs bar was quiet.

20/10/2024: do NOT even think about hosting a birthday party here for your kids, security are extremely aggressive especially with women, saw multiple women pushed to the ground for absolutely no reason by power hungry security guards. The only thing the bar does right is checking ID at the door which gets rid of the hassle of checking for ID when ordering drinks at the bar. however, I noticed multiple girls getting pulled out the bar by the female bouncers and bartenders for the mere reason of feeling sick. While waiting in the bathroom, one girl was pulled out of the cubicle by a member of staff for feeling sick and thrown out of the establishment. The girl was left stranded outside with no idea what was going on as she was so drunk. There is no communication between the bouncers upstairs and downstairs so do not even try to explain a miscommunication as they are not even bothered to listen. However, the aggressive and harassing lads were left scot free by the bouncers and were not punished for touching the girls inappropriately. Now I completely understand that the party was very busy but as a business owner, you need to train you staff better on what is and isn’t allowed and to increase communication between the ground staff and the party staff. At this point in time I would never promote this place to any parent…just go to corner flag!

31/10/2024: Great sandwich and raspberry smoothies! The staff was so helpful in offering their personal recommendations and assistance! 10/10, I would go here everyday if I lived here.

30/10/2024: Staff have a really bad attitude. Got my coffee order wrong and didn’t apologise but rather told me I must have ordered wrong. My colleagues go in all the time and order the same thing but there is no attempt by the staff to learn their usual orders. They have to constantly be told the same order everyday and still they regularly get it wrong. Not typical at all of any good coffee shop. Super cheap management too. They have a stamp card that requires 12 stamps instead of the usual 10 and on top of that it only applies to coffee and no other type of drink which is ridiculous. I ordered their chicken sandwich that had about 3 shreds of chicken in it. The price of the coffees are extortionate. Way more expensive than anywhere else near them which is especially insulting because their coffee is disgusting and acidic. The atmosphere is choking. No room to swing a cat in there and barely enough room to stand while waiting for your coffee. Overall very poor on every level.

26/10/2024: the food is amazing, if you have the app it offers very good deals! The chicken is amazing, and I would absolutely recommend getting the muffin with ice cream.
