Port House Pintxo
Dublin
22/05/2025: A place that might seem attractive to a Spaniard. Sadly, I must say it's a humiliation to Spanish cuisine. High prices for the quantity and quality. We ordered blood sausage with quail eggs, but they didn't have any eggs and didn't even replace them, but they charged the same price. The huevos rotos (broken eggs) were served on frozen potatoes with chorizo chips 🤣🤣🤣
They have no idea about Spanish cuisine. And what can I say about the churros on the dessert menu, frozen ones from a supermarket? The background music has nothing to do with Spanish music (I'm not asking for folklore), but nowadays, Aitana, Lola Indigo, etc. would be pretty good.
Honestly, they need a lot to learn to sell themselves as Spanish food.
20/05/2025: Outstanding food and service, the tapas here is as good as any we have had in Spain, the seafood paella, chorizo in red wine and onion and three sausage variety dishes were exceptional. Our waitress was so friendly, warm and welcoming, a fantastic start to our first ever time visiting Dublin. Fabulous.

Birchalls
Dublin
10/05/2025: Was here recently and after accidentally spilling a drink the barman with glasses and grey hair and tash made us pay for that and another drink. The barmaids were mortified and he said it came out of his pay packet. Total bull. Will not return ever
28/03/2025: This is my favourite bar in Ranelagh.
Best Guinness in Ranelagh for certain and I've tried them all.
Good local crowd which is a complete mix.
Toasties are lovely as well.
More of a rugby crowd at the weekend but not rowdy and in your face.
The soccer is on but the sound is only turned up for big games. Horse racing and golf will be on also.
Lovely fire in the winter as well.
Music on a Monday night which is great.
Guinness, Beamish and Murphys on draught.
As of 28th March, a Guinness is €6.70

Dunnes Stores- Blackrock
Dublin
28/05/2025: First time in this Dunnes location. It looked nice. Car park was a bit awkward to get into due to entrance/ exit of cars. Inside the store was nicely laid out and spacious to be able to look around without taking up an aisle. The two women on the checkouts when I was there were so helpful.
28/04/2025: I've just about had enough of this place! The prices might be alright, but the management of the store is just plain sloppy. It's infuriating how often the beef shelves are empty. And can you believe, they're frequently out of filet? It's not rocket science to keep a grocery store stocked! Honestly, I can't be bothered with this hassle anymore. I'd much rather make the extra drive to the Dunnes Store in Cabinteely. At least there, they understand the concept of inventory!
Update 3/10/23: It seems like the management doesn't take the reviews on this platform seriously, which is disappointing. However, I must say that my experiences during my last two visits met my expectations. Updated the stars to 3/5
Update 28 April 2025: Dunnes decided to increase many prices especially for meat. Don't educate me about the current crisis all over the world, they are ONLY increasing their profits, nothing to do with the crises. I'm done with DUNNES

Firehouse Pizza
Dublin
02/05/2025: Frankly, I wasn’t too impressed. The selling point appears to be on quantity over quality as they have a BOGO at certain sizes. We ordered 2 pizzas. The pizza was fresh, but both were entirely bland and flavorless. It seemed like all canned ingredients with no love.

Diwali
Dublin
15/06/2025: As a Deliveroo courier, I’ve picked up orders from many restaurants, but your establishment is by far one of the worst when it comes to how couriers are treated. Let me be very clear: your staff are consistently disrespectful, dismissive, and unprofessional towards delivery drivers. Even when the food is ready, they refuse to hand it over. We’re constantly told “5 more minutes,” yet end up waiting 20 minutes or more. This is a blatant disregard for our time and effort.
We are not showing up at your door for fun — we are working, just like you. Couriers are an essential part of your business, responsible for getting your food to customers. And yet, we’re treated as if we’re a nuisance, not as professionals. Prioritizing dine-in customers while leaving couriers waiting unnecessarily is completely unacceptable. This careless attitude causes delivery delays, angers customers, and ultimately hurts your restaurant’s ratings and reputation.
This situation has gone far beyond what’s tolerable. If there is any competent manager on site, they need to take immediate action. Your staff need to be properly trained and warned about how to treat couriers with respect. If nothing changes, I will have no choice but to escalate this issue through Deliveroo and any other appropriate channels.
An anti-courier attitude benefits no one. Either you fix this, or your restaurant will quickly earn a reputation among couriers as a place to avoid at all costs.
10/06/2025: Unfortunately, we only realized too late that the good TripAdvisor review is already 10 years old. The service was poor; the waiter stopped taking his order in the middle of taking new guests to their table, with the result that we later had a double order on the bill. The expected apology was extremely poor. The waiters were otherwise unattentive and by no means particularly friendly. The food was mediocre. We hadn't reserved a table, and the space we were assigned was small and cramped, even though there were only three tables occupied in the entire restaurant. The floor was dirty and covered in poppadom crumbs. You should avoid the ladies' restroom; it's filthy; the coat hook on the door is broken, and the toilet seat is only attached by a single screw. The liquid soap was practically empty, and the hand-drying device was of poor quality. We cannot recommend the restaurant.

Izumi Japanese sushi & Chinese
Dublin
29/05/2025: My food was never delivered after I ordered online. After over an hour of waiting I rang the restaurant and they could not give me any reason as to why this was the case. When I asked to cancel the order, they said this wasn’t possible and also would not allow a refund
28/04/2025: We were staying at the Skylon Hotel on the other side of the road and after a few days we concluded that this little Asian restaurant was the best restaurant in the immediate vicinity.

The Point Kitchen
Dublin
17/06/2025: The worst fries with cheese ever
15/06/2025: I took my family to this restaurant for a Father’s Day brunch. While the food was good, it’s unfortunate that the poor customer service left a bad impression—and has made me think twice about returning.
I asked the staff if they had a kids’ menu, and was told they only offer nuggets. Since I wasn’t sure if my child would eat a full burger, I ordered burgers for everyone and for him but then I also requested a kids’ portion of nuggets. The staff told me the nuggets portion was the same as the adult size and priced at €10. When I asked if they could do a smaller portion for a child, they agreed to serve half—but still charged me the full €10.
When I questioned this, both the staff and chef explained that they don’t officially offer a kids’ portion so they giving me same grown up portion. My concern, however, wasn’t just the price—it was the miscommunication and lack of transparency. No one acknowledged the confusion, and there was no apology or effort to make it right.
What added to my disappointment was later discovering on their own website that a kids’ nuggets meal is listed at €6.50 and includes 6 nuggets—while I paid €10 for just 4. This isn’t about the money or the number of nuggets. It’s about honesty and basic customer respect.
