08/04/2026: Review: I visited Spice of India in Clonsilla today for a dine-in meal. I ordered 2 portions of Chicken Tikka Biryani. On their website menu, the price is listed as €16.95 each. But when I got the bill, they charged me €47.90 in total. When I asked about the difference, the staff member simply said that dine-in prices are different from takeaway prices. I understand a small markup for dine-in, but this is an enormous jump. For just two biryanis, I ended up paying nearly €48 – that’s over €14 extra compared to what their own website shows. To make it worse, the portion size was disappointing. They only gave just 2 sauce for two biryanis, and when I asked for raita, they acted like they were doing me a favour by finally providing it. I’m grateful I didn’t order anything else, or God knows how high the bill would have gone. This felt completely unfair and ridiculously overpriced. I will never recommend this place to anyone, and I will never visit again. Very disappointed.

15/03/2026: ordered from clarehall in the new one. chicken is the stringy shite may aswell order clumps of oil. spice bag also had no flavour and cold. Won’t be back.

02/12/2025: one star for the employees that were lovely and one star for the space that’s also nice, but the main thing that’s the food it was terrible. I got a kit kat milkshake and fries with cheddar sauce with bacon, the milkshake tasted nothing like kit kat, it literally tasted like water and the fries came in a very small bowl and half of it was full with the cheddar sauce, i was trying not to get sick while eating it. I paid €14 for both and honestly i can go to burger king and get the same stuff for a much better quality and price.

30/05/2026: Cash only and deserves 1 star for that alone. It’s 2026. Obviously wont invest in a card machine because they want to avoid paying tax but actually they are losing business anyway by not offering card payment as there is no ATM nearby. Food was average at best.

10/05/2026: We ordered food for delivery once the driver arrived he demanded cash from me and refused to give me the food which me and my partner paid for online he then took the food and drove off and the manager of the store then refused to send our food out again and refused to give us a refund robbed us of our money

05/06/2026: To whom it may concern, The afor mentioned establishment has been the most unpleasant and unsatisfactory restaurant I have attended since the opening of all restraunts and bars after covid restrictions. The general ethos and atmosphere that once was the almighty graingers has now become a stale, shambolic, impersonal environment. In addition to this, I was served a bald old man to which I found was obnoxious and rude. I feel the old Grainger's experience has been overthrown by the commercial online bookings and inflated price of pints. As I perused the menu I was shocked and apalled to see the price of a simple pint of Guinness to be the enormous amount of 5.90. It is clear to me, 1884 has been making these tough times even tougher profiting off us working class pub goers. The general feeling received on my end was unwelcoming and uncomfortable. After seeing many spaces free in the front dining area we were ushered to the rear section to be hidden from the general public. I felt possibly this was due to my age and casual dress in comparison to the well dressed and middle aged clientele.

12/04/2026: This is my go-to place for lunch every weekend. I am always impressed by the kindness of the team. Specially, there is a female staff member who I think is Chinese she is outstanding. She is patient, understands customer needs deeply and handles every request with a smile. Her service is the heart of this place

26/08/2025: Great coffee. Best Espresso around so far. Good sitting areas and spacious you migh be able to use your laptop or charge your phone. Power close to tables. Good cosy and quiet atmosphere. Its a regular.

20/10/2025: Glad to see it open again after a very quick patch up (paint on outdoor tables still sticky as they didn't seal it) and not much changed inside, but food not up to the mark (tasteless salad, which was kindly replaced and Cuban sandwich in name only). Would definitely go back for a pint outside, but still feels outdated on the inside. Much better friendly service than under last owner. Updated review (October 25): Thanks for your response below! We went back and new menu is great. Best lobster roll I ever had!

16/08/2025: Dumplings were rubbish, chewy slimy casing and very expensive for what they are. Never had dumplings as bad as this. Rest of the food was like that of a poor takeaway, but just a lot more expensive. Don’t make the mistake we did and go somewhere else instead.

14/08/2025: Al mirar el menú se veía impresionante. Pedí nuestra comida. Estaba deseando gambas agridulces. Las gambas no eran comestibles. La sopa Tom Yum no tiene absolutamente ningún sabor. El personal no está capacitado para estar atento. Pero me sentí mal por ellos ya que una chica no parecía entendernos. Malgasto de dinero.

05/05/2026: When we got there, almost half the menu was unavailable. My friend has a gluten allergy and therefore ordered a gluten free pasta for herself. When they gave us out food, they confirmed that there was one plate of gluten free pasta and that the other one that gluten free. However, when we ask them to reconfirm, they said all the pastas were gluten free. Fast forward two hours, she had a severe gluten allergic reaction and was so ill all night. Would not recommend to any gluten free lads.
