The best restaurants in Dublin

09/07/2025: This is my second negative review. Having previously enjoyed Cafe Du Journal many times I really don’t understand how the place has deteriorated so much. I am actually quite forgiving and relaxed where service is concerned. People can have a bad day, staffing can be difficult and turnover can be high. However I decided to give them a second chance, having not returned to Monkstown after a bad experience, we decided to give the new Glasthule venture a go. Very poor. Untrained staff. Won’t return again as management really don’t seem to care. No response to my previous review and it seems no response to many others who share my views. Pity as we would be very regular customers, particularly to Glasthule which is local to us. Seems like a missed opportunity as it could be fab with a little more attention

05/07/2025: Food was delicious, great pizza, superb Chianti. The staff were professional but really warm and friendly. It’s rare to get service this good but here they’re in the top two restaurants in Glasthule for great staff and service which coincidentally bookend the main Street in Glasthule.

16/07/2025: This is my go to spot for a healthy lunch or a coffee with a friend or client. The coffee is great and I've tried loads of both their brunch and lunch options - everything has been fresh, tasty and really delicious. It's not cheap but it's good value for the quality, decor and location. Tip: they do get busy at the very peak lunchtime rush so if I'm going for lunch I tend to go at 12.40 so I've already gotten my food by the time the real pressure comes on

03/06/2025: Avoid at all costs. Abe yaar Pakistan ki yaad ai lekin gutter aur tatti ki. Rude service, oily as hell food and so disorganised. I am chef I know.. Edit - You can see from the response of the owner who instead of acknowledging or respectfully asking for me to get in touch in order for him to rectify and improve his services, gave the most typical response what you expect from these type of Dhaba’s. Go elsewhere with your custom lads.

03/07/2025: Best coffee, finally a cafe that actually makes your coffee HOT when I say you want it as hot as it can be made, I hate being handed a warm coffee when I ask for extra hot

01/07/2025: Always busy but given where it is that's understandable. But also says a lot when other coffee shops in the center have no queue while these are out the door. If your going and have the app I suggest ordering for collection on the app as there'll always usually be at least 10 people ahead of you. But I've never had a bad coffee in the place.

01/05/2025: Have eaten from here regularly over the years. Its a decent chipper, with very friendly staff. It can get busy but you're never waiting long to get served.

22/07/2025: If I could rate 0 stars, I would. The service was awful, the food was somehow worse. We ordered water that was never brought to us. I ordered a frozen strawberry daiquiri based off a photo from the cocktail menu. When the drink came out it wasn’t frozen. I asked the waitress about it and she seemed annoyed and asked if she could bring me something else, but I said no thank you and I’d be fine with water. The french onion soup must’ve come out of a can, so we left it uneaten. The oysters tasted extremely fishy and made my dining partner feel sick, so she only ate 1/6. When we asked for the bill, with no water still, a serving of soup with two spoonfuls eaten, and four oysters untouched, nobody even asked if everything was ok. Not worth it and certainly not for the price! Run!

20/07/2025: The food was decent and affordable. A varied menu. The service was perfect, everyone was very friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

01/07/2025: For the first time I recently visited it and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing due to the cashier's behavior. From the moment we approached the counter, she was incredibly rude and unwelcoming. It felt as though she expected us to be familiar with their entire ordering process, even though it was our first time there. Instead of explaining to us or answering our questions, she became visibly frustrated. The situation escalated when, instead of simply resolving a minor issue, she launched into an unnecessary rant, making the entire interaction far more uncomfortable and prolonged than it needed to be. The food was very good, but due to the poor customer service I received at the front counter has left a lasting negative impression, and I likely won't be returning to this KC.

30/05/2025: Cozy, friendly and low prices. They treated our young son really well and let him dust his own drink with more cocoa powder.

24/05/2025: I tried this place today but I gave up ordering because the attendant was rude. The coffee place beside this one is much better. Edit: When I was writing this review first I didn't want to mention that I felt that the attendant was rude because I am not Irish, as she clearly attended other Irish people that was behind me and ignored me. I left the coffee place feeling sad. I had to edit this review after reading other reviews mentioning xenophobia because this is exactly how I felt there...
