The best restaurants in Dublin

18/10/2024: If there were more stars than five I would give them! Beautiful ambience in the heart of the city with skilled, professional welcoming staff who know not only how to pour a great pint but also a delicious cocktail. Hats off to Lee - one of those rare gems of barmen who seem to have a sixth sense of what patrons need and when … national Treasure!

12/10/2024: Disappointing and uncomfortably poor service - we arrived at the Sidecar Bar - and were essentially turned away. We were asked three times what we wanted, whilst watching two parties being escorted to tables in the bar. We were again asked by a more senior “hostess” followed by a question about whether we were guests of the hotel. When we said “no” we were (patronizingly) told there would be a “lengthy wait” for a table. Hospitality? No, none at all. Deserved - most definitely not.

22/09/2024: Came here to get dinner before attending the afters to a wedding at The Anglers Rest. The food was nice though a bit pricey. Our server was very pleasant and always came back to ensure all was satisfactory. Ambience was excellent and felt welcoming.

31/10/2024: Absolutely best food around Dublin so far. Bao buns (pulled pork, and beef) was just mouthwatering. Fish and chips soft inside and crunchy outside.. even the fries was to die for! What an experience! Steak was great as well.. just a bit unlucky with peper sauce it happened to be a bit too “buttery”. House dressing on salad amazing too! Anyway highly reccomend, amazing food, brilliant service. Thank you very much

12/10/2024: Great food and service! We had the coconut shrimp wrap which was refreshing and tasty. The french toast was light and fluffy and the eggy croissant was lovely! Definite a place to visit. The chicken is halal according to the waiter.

14/11/2024: I visited for lunch one day while in Dublin. Loved the location and heard good things about it. Came for a later lunch hoping for a Nicoise salad that was posted on their website but sadly they don't update the website frequently so it wasn't an offering when I was there. Instead I ordered their special sandwich with prosciutto, arugula and pesto. It was good just had my heart set on the salad. I ordered a glass of wine as well which was fine. The lines can be long and recommend that you be on the lookout for a table before you order, if possible.

04/04/2024: Tried iced latte with coconut milk and it was SO GOOD, also tried flat white and it was SUPER PUPER DUPER !The design is really nice and cozy!The bathroom is big and cool as you can see on the photo.Overall really liked the cafe 10/10👍🏼

The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a quiet moment alone. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're in the mood for a comforting hot drink or a satisfying bite to eat, Copper and Straw delivers. It's definitely become my go-to spot in Dublin, and I can't recommend it highly enough!

01/11/2024: Didn’t think the drinks were good enough to overcome the overall tedious experience. I sat waiting for a while until I had to beckon the waitress myself instead of being greeted. I asked her to recommend a house cocktail for me, and said I enjoyed “dry, bitter, complex, and amaro-like” flavors. The cocktail I was brought was fruity, floral, and sour - I took a few sips and had to call the waitress over to let her know it wasn’t to my liking. I ordered a second drink, one that I knew i’d enjoy, and it was fine. Once I finished, the staff was inattentive and did not come by to clear my glass and ask if I’d like another drink. It was not excessively busy: there were empty tables around me. I decided it was time to leave. When I was brought the bill, I was charged for both drinks, minus a discount of €2.50 for the €14 drink I barely touched before sending back. I would have understood maybe being charged half for the undrunk cocktail (would have been €7.50 off). But being charged over 75% for a cocktail I drank maybe 10% of felt absurd. The waitress could tell I was a bit offended and offered to comp the whole cocktail. But by that point the damage was done, and I left disappointed.

01/11/2024: Suelen was incredibly nice and had amazing recommendations. Personally I recommend the Tiara for a drink. Would recommend anyone to come to the bar for a fun time.

08/11/2024: This is the best restaurant I've ever been to. My mom and I decided to go there, and as soon as we entered, we got served and stated, "we'd ordered our food, and it took them only 2 minutes to bring our food and drinks, I suggest to come here because me and my mom had a blast.

06/11/2024: Tried to buy a six pack of Fosters in the off-licence in the Old Mill .the packet in the fridge was badly damaged and Sellotape together I asked the check out girl ( she claimed to be the manager )to give me a fresh six pack and she refused saying if I did not buy those ones I was not getting any at all. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This went on a while. I took pictures of the 6 pack and she tried to stop me from leaving. I will be getting onto trading standards

12/11/2024: We arrived at The Old Mill just after 2 pm on a Sunday without a reservation, only to find it was absolutely packed. After a short 15-minute wait on the stairs, we managed to secure a table. The restaurant itself is compact, with tables placed close together, creating a lively atmosphere that felt almost communal. Space is at a premium, so expect to be close to your neighbours – not an issue for us, but something to be aware of if you prefer more privacy. Service was attentive and swift, keeping up well despite the busy crowd. We started with a Guinness and a Rockshore shandy, both served perfectly. The menu offered a wide variety, and we opted for the beef burger with peppercorn sauce and the Cajun chicken burger with garlic sauce, each accompanied by a portion of chips. The beef burger was fresh but slightly overcooked for my taste, resulting in a bit of dryness. However, the peppercorn sauce was a saving grace, adding a rich, flavourful boost that transformed each bite. On the other hand, the Cajun chicken burger was fantastic – full of flavour with a nice kick, while the chicken breast remained moist. The garlic sauce complemented it well without being too strong. The chips were well-seasoned and delicious, rounding off the meal nicely. The total, including two Guinnesses, two Rockshore shandy, both burgers with sauces, and a tip, came to €75 – reasonable for a hearty meal in a busy setting. If you’re in the mood for a lively atmosphere, good service, and satisfying food, The Old Mill is worth a visit – just be prepared for a bit of a wait to get a table!

29/10/2024: First time in Ireland, I struggle the first couple of days finding a nice place to relax was not easy. I finally found the Vat and I love it. Great food, good service and perfect atmosphere for relaxing and enjoying my meal.
