The best restaurants in Dublin

15/08/2025: The name Fair Play feels rather ironic after my visit. I popped in hoping to grab a coffee to go, accompanied by my dog. Instead of a warm greeting, I was met with a raised hand from what appeared to be the owner, signalling that I should head outside. I obliged immediately, yet even then I wasn’t offered the chance to purchase a takeaway coffee. A simple, polite explanation would have been appreciated – and frankly, a takeaway option should have been the obvious next step. Sadly, the encounter felt unwelcoming and far from the hospitality you’d expect from a local café.

30/03/2025: This was my second time visiting the cafe. I dropped in the cafe towards their closing time, yet they kindly let me stay. Though the options of pastries were limited at that point, the blueberry cream cheese tart that I tried was fabulous. The sourness of the berries and smooth texture of cream cheese and its very well balanced sweetness matched perfectly with each other. I also enjoyed Vanilla Rooibos tea as well as the last time, would definitely go back again.

09/10/2025: Exceptional breakfast and coffee. Staff were friendly, service was great and food arrived quickly. We tried the “big breakfast” and the “small breakfast”, the value is excellent for the area. Great street view from some of the smaller tables in the front, I would gladly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

21/09/2025: A truely awful breakfast. The club sandwich, ham from a packet & crisps toasted together resulting in a soggy mess charged at 16.50! I asked for a side of mushrooms served with avacado & eggs.. 3 slices of a portabello mushroom for 3.50! Scandalous, orange juice straight from a bottle.. lovely table staff who shouldn't have to apologise for such awful food.. currently hiring for a cook & its no wonder. Put that menu in the bin & start again.

23/07/2025: I have been going to this restaurant/wine bar since it opened. It has gotten better and better. The menu is always exceptional and ever changing. Its perfect for foodies, but the menu isn't pretentious and has so many gastro delights, it really is for everyone. The Staff are so nice and the music is perfect. However, I do agree with the other reviews that the pricing is a little higher, particularly on the entrees.

14/07/2025: The food is excellent. This restaurant is worthy of a gourmet restaurant. The waitresses were very patient despite our hesitations. While in Dublin, I hope to return to this establishment one day. Delicious desserts!!!

30/09/2025: Atmosphere is amazing super cool love the layout interior design very fresh and unique super tasteful! I wish the food matched the atmosphere it was nice don’t get me wrong but have had much better Asian food it felt like an non Italian cooking Italian if that makes sense, hard to explain. We had the ribs for starters; they were ok came in three so hard to share for 2 people. I wish they where more “crunchy” also felt they where a bit bland taste have been better a bit bland like the meat didn’t soak up the flavours. The broccoli for starters was perfectly cooked and garnished. The lemon grass chicken was too sweet my friend couldn’t finish it. I really enjoyed my Mongolian fillet it was crunchy spicy vegetables perfectly cooked for 27euro u expect a bit more beef but that’s Dublin. Overall would give 5 stars but food was ok. Hang dai and big fan for Asian huge focus on food mainly! I would recommend this place as the atmosphere is superb and very tasteful. The food just needs some fine tuning !

29/07/2025: The staff was very courteous. All food and drink was available and made to order very quickly. It was walking distance from our hotel as well as from a market so you can get fresh coffee, pastries, and fruit very close to one another. This is an excellent place to start your morning!

19/10/2025: I had missing item from my order 3 different times ive ordered. Rang them to sort it out this time, I had let it go the first 2 times but this time they said they'd send out the order and yet Ive waited well over an hour and no sign of it. They're closed now aswell and no form of contact in the last hour. Absolutely ridiculous and im now extremely irritated as I ordered the food because I am hungry and have not been able to eat anything. Seriously bad service

14/09/2025: Quite a relaxed atmosphere in a peaceful setting. It was a gathering of friends and I was the one who suggested this restaurant (even though it was ages ago that I was last here!). The food was plentiful and decent. However, the service needs to be reviewed...when a waiter came to pour the wine, he deliberately ignored someone, and we had to ask him "excuse me, this glass is empty!". How is that possible? Either a lack of attention or poor training... I have no comment! Plus, for a Friday night, the establishment closes at 2200 (a bit too early in my opinion). I also find that the food is about 15-20% more expensive than most similar restaurants in Dublin...is that because it's in Ballsbridge? (an area known for being the residence of wealthy people). I didn't hold a grudge and we left a tip anyway. Sorry but it's unlikely I'll come back here.

28/08/2025: Probably the best pastry in Ireland. Try to arrive before 11am to get the full range of items, but even at 2pm they still had lots of options. They have the classics (croissants, pain au chocolate, pain Suisse, etc.), as well as unique creations (like a honey sea salt croissant). The bagels are excellent - not too far from real NYC bagels! The matcha, chai latte, and hot chocolate were also exceptionally good. They sometimes have soft serve ice cream (with bits of croissant in it!).

05/10/2025: Got turn away at the door by someone around 17:30. Was only going as it was around the location we where at so just decided to go get food somewhere else down the road.

13/10/2025: The hotel is ideally located for exploring the beautiful city of Dublin on foot. Modern and perfectly maintained, it offers comfortable and well-equipped rooms. The staff is particularly welcoming and always ready to help, making your stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast is delicious and indulgent, with a wide selection to start the day off right. A place to recommend without hesitation to fully enjoy Dublin!

12/10/2025: Never again, very nice staff and good location, but the room is so small. We had booked for 3 people, we were expecting to have a bed and sofa bed but not a "2 flore bad". This should be advertised correctly to a customer's before booking!

19/10/2025: Doesn't have the heart that it used to, it's pretty sparse and quite expensive. The food options are amazing, but as a market there's only a few stalls that are worth the visit, you're better off going to the charity shops nearby for a bargain & interesting items.
