21/06/2025: Shocking service may as well have been invisible, completely ignored at the bar for 10 minutes, wouldn't mind but I was the only one at the bar. ended up just walking out.

29/05/2025: Called in at 8.20am on my way into work as I work close by. A couple of customers sitting at a table drinking coffee. My plan was to order take away but was told they were not open…. If this is the case why have your front door open for anybody to stroll in and why serve to serve coffee to other customers…if you are not open!!! Messy and seriously unprofessional!!!

16/07/2025: We were genuinely excited to celebrate a birthday at Old Street Malahide, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. From the moment we arrived, the tone was set by the host, Sean, whose attitude was unexpectedly dismissive and unwelcoming. A proper meet-and-greet should make guests feel comfortable and appreciated — sadly, that was not the case. We had requested a cosy table on the second floor for the celebration. Sean informed us, without much courtesy, that the upstairs area was closed as it wasn’t the weekend. This was quite surprising, as there was no mention of such a restriction on the website. The restaurant was not particularly busy, which made it seem as though the staff simply didn’t want to maintain the upstairs space. This marked the first of several uncomfortable interactions with Sean, who remained cold and unsmiling throughout. Next, we were taken to a room on the ground floor and offered a table by the window, where the sun was glaring directly into our eyes - clearly not a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. We kindly asked to be seated at another available table in the shade. There was a nearby table that was neither marked as reserved nor occupied. However, without any apology or flexibility, Sean told us, “Unfortunately, this table is for five people, and I can’t seat you there.” It felt more like we were being managed as a problem than welcomed as paying guests. We were then led to another section of the restaurant, which was extremely noisy, with guests having to raise their voices just to hold a conversation. At that point, the overall lack of warmth and hospitality had soured the occasion, and we decided to leave in different restaurant. As we walked out, we noticed that the table we had asked for- the one “for five”- remained empty. Ultimately, due to Sean’s unprofessionalism and lack of basic courtesy, the restaurant lost four potential customers who came to celebrate a special occasion and were more than willing to enjoy a full dining experience. A little kindness and flexibility could have made all the difference. Overall, the service felt rushed and impersonal, and the hospitality did not reflect the standard one would expect from a restaurant with such a reputation. It’s unfortunate when a poor first impression defines an entire experience. I truly hope the management takes this feedback seriously. The restaurant certainly has potential - but that can only be fulfilled when guests are welcomed with warmth, professionalism, and respect.

16/07/2025: The setting at Old Street is beautiful, but the hospitality -especially from the front-of-house host, Sean- was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, Sean was cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. As the first point of contact, a host sets the tone for the entire experience, and unfortunately, Sean’s attitude made us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. There was no warmth, no smile, and absolutely no effort to accommodate reasonable requests. His rigid and unhelpful approach soured what was meant to be a special celebration. It’s unfortunate that such poor service at the door can overshadow the rest of what the restaurant might offer. Old Street seriously needs to reconsider who represents them at the front-hospitality begins at the entrance.

19/12/2024: We had our Christmas party for the 3rd time there! Food was good as always, but the music wasn't as good as previous years, and one of the bartenders had a bit of an attitude at some point! Overall it was a good experience, and we are looking forward to finding out what's coming next year! P.S.: Ruaidhri was there for us every year for our Christmas parties, making sure that we are having the best experience, so we do hope that we will see him there again in the new wrights adventure!

12/02/2025: First time ordering from the cupcake store. They were a gift for a friend for her birthday. The ordering process on their website was very easy. The presentation of the cupcakes were lovely and they were delivered nice and early (9am). My friend said they tasted great. Would happily reorder from these guys and highly recommend. Thank you to all involved.

25/06/2025: Always a lovely food experience in Blue Bar. My only negative - the font on the menu is so difficult to read in the light, so a torch and glasses are a must at my age! Good job I usually know what I want to eat. Can't fault anything else, that's why we are return customers.

13/07/2025: Really good selection of food, quite traditional but very good quality. They also have a great gluten free menu which was very welcome for our group. Our servers were very friendly and efficient.

09/05/2025: Staff are so friendly, I often come for advice and they are never short of them. So knowledgeable and so great at listening. Whether you come to buy supplements or just have a mug of tea or something else, there is this warm atmosphere that you can not help but feel like you want to stay a bit longer and absorb a bit more of it or is it just the knowledge you get mesmerised with. It can be a very busy shop between the coffee corner and the health products section.
