Ruibin
Galway
18/06/2026: The place is central location near docs and good atmosphere. It offers delicious food with some asian vibe and excusite desserts
17/06/2026: Walked in for an early dinner at 5 pm and sat downstairs in the bar for their small plates menu. Food was exquisite, the oysters, ceviche, fried chicken, and seaweed butter were our favorites. Excellent experience, recommend reservations if you’d like to sit upstairs for their course menu.

Sheridans Cheesemongers
Galway
03/06/2026: Fantastic cheese shop! Great service as well!
07/05/2026: We got chatting to an employee who was seriously invested in showcasing the products, what a joy. Selection of properly aged and stored cheeses is something you don't catch at a supermarket, nor the quality. Worth your time, pick up a bottle, a few cheeses and some charcuterie. Life is good, you only live once!

Aniar
Galway
07/05/2026: It is difficult to reconcile this establishment’s Michelin-star status with the experience provided. The arrival process felt disorganized, as guests are initially left standing in the center of the dining room without clear direction.
The service and culinary execution also fell short of expectations for several reasons:
• Service & Atmosphere: The use of a pressurized wine preservation system at the table was distracting; the audible hiss of the gas during the pour detracted from the dining atmosphere.
• Menu Concept: The 24-course tasting menu felt over-engineered. The experience would likely benefit from a significant reduction in the number of courses to allow for a sharper focus on ingredient quality and cohesive flavoring. Many dishes were overly complex without a clear culinary narrative.
• Main Course: The choice of pork as the primary protein was underwhelming, particularly as the cut served was excessively fatty.
• Value Proposition: The "Premium" wine pairing, priced at €175, did not offer a selection that justified the cost.
While the technical execution of the cooking was generally sound, the lack of standout flavors and the disjointed nature of the menu make it difficult to recommend this as a high-value fine dining destination
27/04/2026: We loved our dining experience here. The creativity and intention behind every dish, decor, even down to the dish ware and cutlery - all highlighted regional Irish food and makers. Our server was amazing at giving us the lay of the land at the start of the meal. The chefs brought out each dish to explain in great detail what we were about to enjoy. A treat all around to experience this taste of Ireland and Irish culture. Best beet dish I have ever had. Venison tartare was absolutely stunning.
Pork and fish main courses were top notch.

The Seafood Bar @ Kirwan's
Galway
22/05/2026: Excellent!!!!!!
We had five separate dishes, three starters and drinks. Everything was spectacular and prepared to perfection. Wonderful! Thank you!
14/05/2026: As a welcome, we received warm service and genuine smiles, accompanied by a carafe of water with an orange slice, Guinness and whole-wheat bread with seeds, and salted butter.
Then, our lunch began with a sweet Chardonnay to pair with a seafood platter, bursts of flavor that lingered on the palate. A small, crisp salad, perfectly balanced in flavor, capers with tender smoked salmon that delighted my taste buds, and truly delicious dried mackerel, all finished with a squeeze of lemon—I highly recommend it! Special mention for the Roche oyster; it's a shame there was only one. I was less impressed with the shrimp, which were blander than everything else.
To finish, I savored a perfectly crisp crème brûlée (the inside was a little "cold," but I'm nitpicking) and a very good cappuccino. My stay got off to a wonderful start.

The Secret Garden
Galway
28/12/2025: A magical enclave. There are jars and jars of teas to choose from, a selection of pastries that are as beautiful as they are delicious, and cosy seating that includes floor tables and cushions. I wish I had more time in Galway; this would be my poetry writing hideaway.
26/12/2025: Beautiful tea and coffees here as well as being such a place to meet people to chat.
Amazing staff and sweet baked goods too.

Salt House, menu
Galway
28/05/2026: Great pub to enjoy great selection of beers, sunny days are the best so that you can go outside and have your beer in the sun
24/05/2026: Barman here on Sunday 24 May was extremely rude. Entered on my own while my boyfriend stayed outside with the dog and tried to use the toilet before ordering. Barman shouted at me as I walked through and I explained I would be back to order. He refused and told me to order beforehand to which I said ok can I have a Guinness. Waited at the bar to pay while visibly needing to use the toilet and he ignored me. Finally left the premises after rude service and was shouted after as I left. I didn’t feel like there was any need to be greeted with arrogance and such an attitude. Lost two paying customers.

21/04/2026: Amazing Pizza Margherita. We devoured it before I could snap a picture. Here on a bus tour, this was a quick and tasty option for anyone who might be a bit fish and chipped out.

Osteria Italiana Da Simone
Galway
08/06/2026: My partner and I just visited this restaurant, where we discovered the flavors of home. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and welcoming, especially the waiter Diego...it was like visiting an old friend...
Highly recommended.
31/05/2026: The single star in this review is awarded solely for the service, which was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the food itself fell well below expectations..
An osteria is historically a simple, welcoming establishment focused on honest, regional cooking, quality ingredients, and traditional preparations served in an unpretentious atmosphere. It is not intended to be fine dining, but it should deliver authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and well-executed dishes. Sadly, that was not my experience here.
I began with the calamari. It was largely tasteless and noticeably rubbery. The toughness of the calamari suggested that it was either made from previously frozen product or had been significantly overcooked. The breading itself appeared uniform and processed in a way that suggested a pre-coated commercial product rather than calamari prepared and breaded in-house. Either way, the result was a disappointing appetizer that lacked both flavor and proper texture.
What was particularly surprising was its accompaniment. The calamari appeared to be served with plain mayonnaise. In Italy, fried calamari is traditionally served with little more than a wedge of lemon, allowing the flavor of the seafood itself to take center stage. When prepared properly, fresh calamari should have a delicate yet vibrant flavor that stands on its own and requires very little embellishment. The purpose of the lemon is to enhance that flavor, not conceal it. The mayonnaise felt more reminiscent of a generic pub appetizer than a dish one would expect to find in a traditional Italian osteria.
Next was the bruschetta. Traditional Italian bruschetta is served on sliced, toasted bread rubbed with garlic and topped with fresh ingredients. Historically, bruschetta originated as a practical way for Italian families to make use of day-old or stale bread, reflecting a culinary culture that prized resourcefulness and sought to use every ingredient to its fullest rather than waste food. The beauty of the dish lies in its simplicity: quality bread, quality olive oil, and fresh toppings.
Just as importantly, bruschetta should provide a satisfying crunch when bitten into. The toasted bread is a defining characteristic of the dish, creating a contrast between the crisp base and the fresh toppings. Here, however, the bruschetta was served on pizza dough instead of toasted bread. Rather than offering the expected crunch, it flopped over like a slice of pizza when picked up. In doing so, the dish lost not only its traditional texture but also much of the character and history that make bruschetta such a classic part of Italian cuisine.
To be fair, the topping itself was reasonably flavorful. The tomatoes, however, lacked the sweetness and depth of flavor one would hope for in a dish where they are a central ingredient. I do not place the full blame for this on the restaurant, as sourcing truly vine-ripened tomatoes in western Ireland can be challenging.
For the main course, I ordered the Chicken Puttanesca. Puttanesca should be a bold, vibrant dish characterized by robust flavors from tomatoes, olives, capers, garlic, and herbs. Instead, the dish was surprisingly bland. The chicken itself was unremarkable in taste and, unfortunately, somewhat chewy and tough. More disappointing was the sauce, which lacked the bold, savory character that defines a proper puttanesca and came across as flat and largely flavorless. For anyone familiar with traditional Italian cooking, this would be difficult to accept, as the hallmark of Italian cuisine is not complexity, but the ability to create rich flavor from simple, quality ingredients.
Overall, this was an extremely disappointing dining experience and, in my view, a poor representation of what an osteria should be. While the staff deserve credit for their excellent service, the kitchen failed to deliver the quality, flavor, and authenticity one would reasonably expect from an establishment calling itself an osteria.

Hyde
Galway
20/05/2026: We held a large group here last Wednesday and would highly recommend. The food was absolutely fantastic and the Jekyl room is amazing.
Thank you Hyde!
14/05/2026: A group of 5 of us had a booking here after work.
We were seated straight away and our server was Yehor, he was so good, attentive and was humorous with us. He was so apologetic when our deserts were late, not that we complained, well done Yehor, we all enjoyed our food, and the cocktails and mocktails were lovely. Staff are very friendly and the decor is nice. Would definitely call in again

Chef Laura Rosso Cafe/Restaurant
Galway
25/10/2025: Laura Rosso is my favourite place to eat in Galway, the grilled chicken is delicious. The team who run it are lovely and especially Anna is always very helpful 😁🙏
24/10/2025: Visited this restaurant with my family for my birthday dinner, for the first time. Not a bad place, nice and warm. The food sounds good on the menu, looks good in a photo but on the shared platter, the chicken and the steak was very dry and tough, as if it's cooked and frozen then heated up again, like not fresh. The chips and sausage was nice. I would return to give a second chance and try something else💯❤️

Hooked
Galway
11/06/2026: We were able to make reservations at Hooked the same day and had no trouble getting a table. It was an easy walk from our Airbnb in the city center.
The atmosphere was more modern than I had expected—not the traditional Irish seafood restaurant vibe—but I really liked it. It felt fresh, stylish, and relaxed.
Our server was knowledgeable and attentive at the start of the meal, offering excellent recommendations, particularly when it came to choosing a wine. After that, though, she seemed to disappear and we didn't see her again until the end of the meal, which was a bit unusual. Other staff members checked on us from time to time, so we were still well taken care of.
The food itself was very good, with the fish and chips being a standout. Overall, Hooked delivered a delicious meal in a contemporary setting and is well worth a visit if you're looking for quality seafood in Dublin.
10/06/2026: Really good menu and the food was excellent, really tasty. Nice atmosphere and service was good.
