The best restaurants in Galway

14/03/2025: Cava bodega sits right by the heart of Latin Quarter in Galway, Ireland. They serve authentic Spanish food favorites such as tapas, nibbles, platters, and pinchos. This two-story restaurant (with dining in the basement) is bustling especially on weekends, so making reservations is recommended to avoid disappointment. We started with a Spanish red wine and ordered the following tapas to share: 1. Mussels with almonds and white wine sauce 2. Gambas al ajillo 3. Paella marinara 4. Squid with lemon mayonnaise 5. Croquetas 6. Churros with chocolate sauce and ice cream We had a lovely dinner here, the vibe was casual and fun, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. They have great, efficient customer service with good price points. If you happen to find yourself tired of bangers and mash or fish and chips, some Spanish tapas are a good recommendation for something different while in Galway, Ireland.

21/01/2025: Went here for lunch and ordered the fish and chips. Lovely crispy batter on 3 nicely sized pieces of fish with ample chips, a delicious little salad and a pot of tartar sauce. Service was quick and friendly and the price for what I got was very reasonable.

21/12/2024: Myself and one of my friends had the teriyaki chicken don and it tasted so good. The chicken was marinated and the rice mixed with the sauce was heavenly and a great mix of savoury and sweet. The egg was chopped up very finely and had a soft texture and the green beans had a very refreshing flavour and I think it was blanched so it had a very refreshing crunch to it! Some of the juices sunk down to the bottom of the bowl and it was such a sweet and delicious flavour. I would say we waited quite a while but there was only one cook when we went so it made sense. The inside is decorated really well and the atmosphere felt really welcoming. My other friend had the tempura sushi roll and miso soup and she really enjoyed it. Price wise, you are definitely getting more than what you paid for. I've paid more in other restaurants for less amounts of food. I paid €18 for the teriyaki chicken don and I would definitely say I got my money's worth. The wait was like 40 minutes for 3 people and it was quite empty, so if you are on a tight schedule you might not want to go, but I personally don't mind waiting 40 minutes for a meal. 10/10 I would really recommend to go and I'm definitely going again!! 🤤🤤🙏🙏

19/03/2025: Surprisingly bad. I got mine with satay sauce, which I’m sure in a vacuum, tasted good, but on undercooked chips, I ended up wirh a handful of soggy, unappetizing mush. The original is probably great, but for a place that only serves chips, they were undercooked, not crispy at all and lacked that delicious moment when you bite into them. I wouldn’t go back, waste of time and money. I’m sure every pub all around does regular chips better at a fraction of the cost.

18/03/2025: Hands down best chip experience I’ve ever had! Pubs locally let you eat outside too, absolutely lush! 4 of us had it yesterday and going back tonight for round 2!

18/03/2025: Booked restaurant for a birthday celebration. We brought a homemade cake to the restaurant. There are dietary requirements in the family so the cake was both vegan and gluten free. We were informed that under no circumstances would they serve the cake or even allow us to serve ourselves while in restaurant. A free dessert was served to the birthday 'girl' later but it couldn't compensate for the negative feeling generated by the refusal to allow us to celebrate as planned. Overall a disappointing experience.

28/02/2025: Beautiful cosy rooms 2 minutes walk from the seafront. Extremely friendly staff! Given a key to come and go as you please. Great value for the quality.

18/02/2025: Excellent welcome, an extraordinary place with its “beer garden” outside, its old “shop”! A piece of Ed Sheeran's clip but what authenticity, I love it!!!

22/01/2025: Very authentic and tasty Asian food. We were early and it filled up quickly- book! Lots of drink options if you are into cocktails. As with most restaurants wine is overpriced!

19/03/2025: It is a nice pub that you could easily spend an evening in. The food is nice, as a veggie there were good options. Service was very good, the staff really worked hard to ensure customers were attended to.

13/03/2025: I ate here with my wife today and she has celiac disease and we were very clear about that. She was excited that they had gluten free bagel and ordered one. It arrived looking very much the same as mine and we asked for confirmation from the waitress twice. It turns out it was just the "brown bagel" and she is is now quite sick. Not taking food allergies seriously is pretty egregious. People with allergies beware.

25/03/2025: Nice Mexican, best tacos I've had from all the Mexican restaurants in Galway there beef consommé is lovely too, however burritos were nicer in Tucos as there were more options for what can go into them making them more flavourful.

12/02/2025: We had a new year celebration which needed around 100 fried rice with different requirements staff and chef did a brilliant job even provided so much extra than what we ordered. Everything was prepared in time even give us a ring few minutes before to let us know that everything is ready to collect. Food was amazing
