06/07/2025: I’ve been to The West many times and this is because the food is consistently good and the service excellent. The menu is varied and no matter what you get, you will love it. I particularly like the deep fried Brie for my starter. There are always specials as well. The owner is present and serving a lot which I think adds some extra to your visit.

04/07/2025: This definitely has the wow factor! This was a really good find on Insta. It’s worth a visit. We went for dinner and it did not disappoint! The food was totally amazing, the taste, texture and presentation was like looking at a window of diamonds! The staff were friendly, attentive and made the experience delightful. Fabulous and we will definitely be back 👍👍👍

17/07/2025: We loved our stay at Belleek Castle! The staff were wonderful, the room was charming, and the grounds are gorgeous. We had a beautiful dinner at the library restaurant, delicious cocktails in the lounge, and the included breakfast was the best of the trip (and beautifully presented). Highly recommend!

13/07/2025: Just back from afternoon tea with my Mum and Aunt. Raquel was looking after us and nothing was too much bother. Food was delicious and service outstanding. Location beautiful and interior outstanding. Can't thank Raquel enough for her care of us. Will be back without hesitation.

05/06/2025: First time to the Dining Room since the restaurant changed hands in recent years. We were on an overnight stay in Castlebar, and having read some great reviews (most notably The Irish Times), I was looking forward to dining there. Not the usual A La Carte menu on offer, and instead there's two set four-course menus to choose from.... we opted for menu offering good selection of fish, poultry and vegetarian dishes. We were warmly greeted by the restaurant manager Shirley and shown to our table. The restaurant was busy for a bank holiday Saturday night and there was a good atmosphere with reasonable sound levels (nothing worse than restaurant full of loud patrons and you can't hear yourself think literally!) Prompt service at the outset - with starters and mains ordered, along with a bottle of the house red (three to choose from). Overall the wine and drinks menu is varied and very reasonably priced. Both of our starters and main courses were - in a word - 'sublime' and we looked forward to tasting their desserts. However, that's where it all turned sour (for want of a better word) because we waited the best part of over 30 minutes to see a dessert menu. It felt like once the dishes for main courses were removed, they forgot we there, as other patrons came and went, and service seemed to be on the ball (many of them appeared to be local diners and were friendly with the manager and staff). When we finally were given a dessert menu, it then took some more time to be served. Overall, I enjoyed my dessert but alas my sister found her dish rather bland and tasteless.....plus it's unacceptable to have to wait nearly 40 mins or more to sample the final course of the evening. Sadly, we didn't think the Dining Room was worthy of a service tip.... nor was our experience worthy of five stars. Not sure if I would go back.

25/05/2025: Great food, great service, lovely atmosphere. The menu maybe limited, but the quality was extraordinary. The staff were not very knowledgeable, but also very helpful and friendly.

14/07/2025: Hadn’t booked in advance. Restaurant was very busy. We found the staff very accommodating and welcoming. Food was delicious. Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend and would return.

08/07/2025: One of the best steaks I have ever had. Overall food was brilliant, service was excellent despite the place being so busy. Very family friendly, would highly recommend if you are in Ballina.

28/05/2025: This is a wonderful place. Hugh and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious, and the Guinness is great too. I have eaten here on numerous occasions, and it’s always first class. The scones and homemade bread are incredible. Make sure you book to avoid disappointment!

25/06/2025: Recently visited as a group of 17 colleagues. An excellent stay! The apartments are clean, very well equipped and comfortable. Possibly the comfiest bed & pillows I've ever slept on after my own. The food is excellent. Great choices on the menu and the portions are very generous. The atmosphere is calm and friendly. The staff make it. You can tell they love and are proud of their place of work and enjoy being there. This makes all the difference. The cost of the rooms per person, per night with a great breakfast included is an absolute steal. Excellent location on the quay and a 5 minute taxi journey into beautiful, lively Westport. Can't wait to come back.

05/07/2025: Nice pizzas, very fresh, good quality ingredients! Apart from the ham that was on the Hawaiian, seemed a bit fatty for my liking, so left that off! So the pizza's come on a large chopping board with paper underneath the pizza! Really didn't like the paper as I think when I was cutting the pizza, I was also eating the paper! So I would definitely ask not to have any paper underneath the pizza! Other than that, nice pizza's, nice staff, lovely and warm with a nice atmosphere! We will return again!

21/07/2025: Food was old fashioned and underwhelming. If you enjoy your carvery food, I would recommend. Disappointed in the lack of wine knowledge. Staff was lovely otherwise.

16/07/2025: This was a really disappointing meal. We had very high hopes, but sadly they fell very short. The server did not explain the two menus to us, so we were left guessing, and when an opinion was asked, she was surprised by what was on the menu, as she wasn’t familiar with it. The starters were good. The mains were not. The scallops were full of grit and the steak (which was an up charge) was overcooked. The desserts were good, but didn’t make up for the rest of it. For the prices they charge, it’s not remotely good enough, and gritty scallops are never acceptable. Why this is Michelin recommended, I’m not sure.

13/06/2025: We came in here after reading all the excellent reviews and we were really looking forward to coming in here for a good night.The biggest letdown of our 2 weeks in Ireland.Yes it was a Tuesday night and possibly Tuesdays nights in Byrne's bar are maybe always awful and if we came any other night it might have been different but when we entered there were 3 others sitting at the bar and I asked if they did food.The reply was no and it's cash only in here.Wow how to make you feel welcome indeed.we did order a pint but couldn't wait to get out of the place. judging by other reviews I don't think that was the owner who served us and honestly I couldn't care less now but we did tell everyone else staying at the Ellison hotel we spoke to,to avoid Byrne's bar and I hope they did..I really don't like giving bad reviews at all but I just had to here.it really was an awful experience

12/07/2025: Nice place for food, but one bad thing for it was the kitchen was wide open and the extractor fans weren't working properly because we were being smoked out of it.
