05/02/2026: Probably one of the best burgers and pizzas we've had. Those guys know what they are doing absolutely fantastic place

31/01/2026: The Woodfire is a great place to eat and dine, if you have a hankering for Pizza. Wifey and Hubby went with a couple of friends. And all were happy and full with the menu. Wifey and Hubby Haven't been back for at least 6 odd years. Back then the menu range was bigger and more diverse. Now they are more selective, specialising in pizzas. A decent meal option, which they do very well. Hubby was silly, opting not to pizza, in a place that specializes in oven pizzas. Everyone else did, hubby went with the lamb burger, which was great, but was something he did regret. I like Pizza, I prefer a deep pan style myself, here they prefer the thin crust. but the question hubby asked himself was would I order it for dinner? Still Wifey had the pineapple one, which I had a few slices of. Regardless of the pineapple topping, I cannot fault it in the slightest. The only disappointment with the menu was the lack of desserts or even coffees at the end. We all left full and not wanting more, but I wish there was something available to end the meal. Side note, the chips are good too. Hand cut and homemade. A small decent high quality portion. Either way a great place to eat pizza and wine. Or in Hubby's case IPA, definitely recommend...

19/01/2026: On a cold, wet Mayo evening, my wife Vivien and I found exactly the welcome we needed at An Port Mór restaurant in the county. From the moment we arrived, Lucy and Sophie greeted us with a warmth and ease that immediately set the tone for a memorable night, making the weather outside feel entirely irrelevant. I began with beautifully prepared smoked salmon, followed by a blade of beef that was nothing short of superb - rich, tender, and deeply satisfying, before finishing with a perfectly executed crème brûlée, all accompanied by elegant, well-chosen wines that complemented each course effortlessly. Vivien’s meal was equally impressive: a comforting, flavourful soup to start, followed by delicately cooked hake, and a pavlova that was as light and delicious as it was beautifully presented. Port Mór once again reminded us why it remains our favourite restaurant in the West of Ireland if not the '32' counties: exceptional food, thoughtful wine pairings, and lovely people with genuine hospitality that turns an evening out into something truly special. 08/02/2026: Fantastic food. Best brunch I've had in Ireland and I've had a few. Just had the Turkish eggs and they have set the bar for quality and taste. Do yourself a favour and come here. Well worth a visit.

03/02/2026: Had a nice birthday dinner a while back. One of the best salmon dishes I've had in a long time. And the champ potatoes hit the spot. Kid friendly. My son now enjoys burgers after having one here. Servers were very welcoming and friendly. Will return on my next trip to Ballina.

25/01/2026: Do you know when you go to a different town and you are a little tired and dishevelled? We booked in here for the two of us on short notice. Girl on the phone was lovely on the phone and in person. We were made to feel very welcome which is in my opinion the most important part of any restaurant. Food was excellent and very good value for the portions. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the town. It deserves the reviews.

Great food and drinks from a friendly staff .... proprietor on hand meeting and greeting...lovely touch... not many place provide same anymore ... would definitely recommend !

12/10/2025: We were staying in Dooagh and happened upon The Valley House. Stayed for a few pints and a chat. Absolutely class place, extremely friendly service. We'll check out the accomodation and food on our next visit.

30/09/2025: What a wonderful find on Achill Island! A hidden Victorian house by the sea. A grand estate with a tiny Irish pub in the back. A must visit! The hostel was very well furnished and a comfortable night’s rest. I was very impressed! Breakfast was very generous and a wholesome stay.

22/02/2026: We had a great evening here in the west bar. Atmosphere was cozy. Waitress was happy to help with the beers choice they had and presented us some beer to taste. Food was amazing. For the price good amount of food !

02/02/2026: You'll never experience a better bar than this. Great craic had by all before and after Dubs game. Great pints and great wit on both sides of the bar. This is what all Irish pubs should be like. Mick and the lads behind the bar love the craic. Don't be shy, be respectful and think on your feet, and you might even get one on the house. Definitely worth many more return trips. One of the highlights in Castlebar. Cash is 👑

08/11/2025: I was visiting Castlebar from the US and Mick could not have been more welcoming. I also ended up stopping in during the day to ask for directions and a different barman was also extremely hospitable. It's a very positive feel here, not to mention a top notch pint of Guinness. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

07/01/2026: Had lunch yesterday food was lovely couldnt fault. Service VERY slow staff seemed distracted wasnt overly busy had to request repeatedly for water. Bathrooms used to be kept lovely and clean with a extra touch, now they have a strong smell of urine. Seems like it has become ran down since we last visited. Disappointing

27/10/2025: 11/6/25: Great cafe and very welcoming and friendly staff too and where dogs are allowed at the rear under a sheltered roofed area; there are a few other large tables in the yard but these are not protected from the weather.
