22/10/2024: By far away the best hotel we stayed at on our most recent trip to Ireland. From the moment we arrived until we departed, we were made to feel welcomed, cared for and truly at home. The gentleman who is the night manager, was exceptional and is an immense value to the hotel. Gorgeous accommodations and incredible food at every outlet. We will return.

16/02/2025: Very expensive. It is the Japanese restaurant with the worst value for money where I have ever eaten. Seafood ramen made with frozen fish: dry and hard. The tuna was not fresh. I don't understand why the Chinese insist on passing themselves off as Japanese instead of making their food, which, although well made, is also of excellent quality. I guess because so-called Japanese food can be sold at a much more expensive price. If you know Japanese food, stay away from here.

21/03/2025: I've been here more than 20x times. The food is excellent, the service is quick, and staff are very friendly. Coffee is also very good (although GoodBoy technically has the best coffee in town, and it's close). It's never taken more than 5 minutes maximum for somebody to take my order, with about 10 minutes maximum for serving. The only real problem is that on lunch hour and on Saturdays it can be hard to find available seats if its too busy.

16/03/2025: Curious Cat Cafe is an absolute nightmare of a place—hands down the worst cafe experience I’ve ever had. We waited a full hour for a simple sandwich and coffee, and nothing showed up. Not a crumb, not a drop, nothing. The whole time, the waiters just stood there, snickering and laughing at us like we were the punchline to some private joke, while we sat there starving and confused. It was humiliating. After an hour of this absurdity, with no sign of our order, we finally gave up and decided to leave. As we tried to walk out, the staff had the audacity to harass us, calling us "selfish" for not waiting longer—like we owed them our time and patience for their incompetence. This place is a chaotic mess, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy being mocked and ignored. Looking at TripAdvisor this is common here

15/03/2025: Didn't stay here but had lunch and a few pints while watching the match. Food was lovely, nice friendly staff.

15/02/2025: Super nice pub! Super friendly staff! Very good room, excellent breakfast! Right in the center, really good!

23/12/2024: Great pints and 10/10 service from the staff but what’s with all the creeps hanging around the ladies bathroom entrance pulling and grabbing women. Several times throughout the night I seen known regulars acting creepy and harassing women.

21/02/2025: We went there over christmas, 3 adults and my 2 toddlers. We were seated at the booth. After 10 minutes of waiting we went up to ask for some water and menus and were told “we will get to you when we get to you”. After 5 minutes they brought the menus and we ordered 2 pastas and a pizza. They took our order and left, a minute later he returned and said we have to order more as we are taking a booth so we need to order more, i then replied that we were not informed nor was there any display of any “minimum order quantity “ policy for this restaurant (where ive eaten several times previously). The waiter then replied “did you ask?”! I then replied that this may be a policy of yours but this is something that 1. Should be communicated to us upon arrival or displayed in the menu or wall or somewhere and 2. This could have been told to us by the waiter in a more relaxed manner, which we could take onboard and maybe decide to order further,We were shocked with this reply and his general demeanour and behaviour with us was appalling. My kids 3+5 yrs were cranky and hungry so i told him that this was not the norm , customers arent supposed to ask for restaurant policy. At which point he asked us to leave. We obliged with a bitter taste in our mouth at the horrible service we had just received.

24/03/2025: I would highly recommend O’Carolls cakes for your wedding cake. Gary and the team were wonderful to work with for our wedding day. The cake looker beautiful and it was also really tasty. Thank you!

11/01/2025: Gary made our wedding cake for us in December. The wedding cake was absolutely stunning! Not only was it beautifully designed, but it tasted incredible too. We couldn't have asked for a better cake to mark such an important occasion—highly recommend! Thanks again, Emma and Mikey.

03/03/2025: Just back from spending a weekend here for my partners birthday. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. From the moment we entered to the moment we left we enjoyed every bit of it. We got a complimentary room upgrade on check-in. A lovely special touch in the room with a birthday card and cookies for my partners birthday. Huge room with robes and slippers and a beautiful view of the Kerry mountains. Only 5 mins by car to the town with a cheap taxi service to/from. The spa was amazing and the Thai masseuse was the best I experienced. The breakfast had such a wide variety and was so delicious. We didn’t eat in the bar or restaurant so can’t comment on that but really can’t wait to go back again.

24/02/2025: Really nice hotel, awesome breakfast but poor menu. Drinks on 3 or 4 pages and food on only 1. Food what I had was good but would like to see more kind of food to choose from. Same with a desserts.

04/11/2024: What makes a great hotel? Arbutus has it all!! The location cannot be beat- right in the heart of Killarney near all the shopping, pubs and restaurants. The room was clean (squeaky clean), with excellent shower pressure, wash clothes (not always customary in Ireland) and the most comfy bed and pillows- was the best sleeps of our trip! The staff was oh so friendly and by happenstance we met the 3rd generation owners who were happy to chat about the details of their establishment with us (I love history!). The breakfast each morning was fabulous and the attached bar (Buckley's) was perfect for a late night drink and some Irish music! I would go back to the Arbutus in a heart beat!!

01/01/2025: Muchas veces he comido aquí, siempre un restaurante ocupado porque el pescado suele ser de primera calidad y las porciones muy generosas. Pero una visita reciente allí y fue muy diferente. Porciones más pequeñas y esa calidad que solía estar allí faltaba por lo que estábamos muy decepcionados por eso. Más aún cuando se consideran los precios en el menú.

Tuve la sopa de cebolla francesa, fue increíble, seguido de la vieira de la mañana y el tablero de queso. Mi otra mitad tenía el popurrí de mariscos, todo tan fresco y cocinado a la perfección, una necesidad si estás en killarney.

12/03/2025: The Tan Yard is right in the heart of Killarney, when we arrived we were treated warmly by the staff and seated immediately, the choice on the menu is varied and imaginative, the wine list was very good with plenty of choice the food was fantastic with plenty of choice for vegetarian, the bread and butter we received before the meal was delicious, so many restaurants in Ireland no longer give guests bread before the meal well done Tan Yard and finally the staff who were friendly and professional, we would highly recommend this restaurant, thank you for a lovely evening

19/02/2025: Lovely atmosphere, wonderfully attentive and friendly staff. However the food was a disappointment despite the hefty price tag! We had the scallops of which the sauce had no flavour. The steak had a burnt taste to it. The sole was nice although over salted. Might be worth picking less of a tourist trap restaurant!
