04/03/2026: Food always v good. Coffee some of the best around. Staff amazing and v friendly

19/02/2026: Perfect Breakfast/Lunch spot in Strandhill. I got the ham and cheese Toastie, and my girlfriend got the Korean chicken sandwich. Both were gorgeous, with very nice quality ingredients. We had to wait a little bit to get a seat. When we did get a seat it was beside the door which kept being left opened with the cold air coming in. Apart from that it was a perfect experience 😊😊

22/02/2026: I would like to say what a wonderful evening we had in the venue, our meal was delicious and more importantly our service by your lovely staff was so enjoyable, I think his name was Ben !!! 18/03/2026: Absolutely fabulous meal last Saturday night. Was recommended to go here by a few people and it didn’t disappoint. The food was stunning, - we ordered the tomahawk and definitely would recommend if you visit. The staff are brilliant who genuinely cared about the experience, alongside the homemade bread at the start which was amazing - Definitely will be visiting again very soon.

19/02/2026: Incredible service. Food was ok. Got there tiktok famous chicken dish. Was drry overcooked and quite chewy, very heavy on mayo. Also got chownie to take away very odd tasted more like ginger pudding imo, not what i expected or wanted which was a brownie, not a sponge dessert. Service was great though best place ive been for service. Would like to go back and try something different tho. Bathrooms could be better very pokey but goregously decorated and im sure a great night out with company.

13/02/2026: Best value for money on the west coast!! I stayed here in January 2026 and I had the best experience! I was on my way back to Belfast and decided to stop here for a night, last minute. The service I got was phenomenal. The staff were so friendly- the two ladies who were working the restaurant/ bar were helpful and kind. Check in was easy and they even offered me a room upgrade because they had availability. The pictures don’t do this place justice- everything was clean, comfortable and welcoming. So many little details made this hotel exceptional. The location is amazing - you are surrounded by beautiful landscapes and the water (ask for a room with a sea view).The facilities were exactly as pictured and the owners have done a fantastic job at creating a relaxing and safe atmosphere. The food was also so delicious!!! Thanks for a great stay- I’ll definitely be back!

02/01/2026: Went last night family of 8, the staff were brilliant very pleased with how nice they were, atmosphere was also very pleasant. Unfortunately it was the food that let the place down. We ordered different meals and actually swapped with each other as we didn't like what we ordered and that didn't solve problem. The food lacked any proper flavour and was truely disappointing. Pasta was watery taste, fish was another disappointment, kids burger(fussy eater) plain burger no sauce etc half a burger on it with what looked like onions burned on it, so kid absolutely not eating it. Chicken wings ahh no. Sorry while the staff and atmosphere was good the food was disappointing Unfortunately. Stopped off on way home for takeaway

03/03/2026: Food was excellent however they put us in the snug and never checked if we were ready for mains at all. When I asked they said "I was supposed to call them whenever we were ready" which I would gladly do if anyone had shown up. Overall good pints and good food.

22/02/2026: Went for lunch with my son, daughter and newborn grand children...what fantastic experience from the staff to the character of the pla and of course the food! The menu is extensive and our food was top class

No pretense, no tasting menus, no one trying to reinvent the potato — just solid food, the kind that fills your stomach and makes you feel human again. We started with the Mexican potatoes — a Frankenstein’s monster of spuds, minced meat, and molten cheese. Messy, indulgent, and exactly what you want with the first sip of a pint. It’s not a starter that asks for approval; it just shows up and gets the job done. The steak sandwich followed — simple, meaty, unapologetic. The fish and chips came out crisp, golden, and properly fried — the kind of thing that reminds you how good bar food can be when people still give a damn. And of course, a pint of Guinness — dark, creamy, perfectly settled. It’s the punctuation mark at the end of a meal that doesn’t try to impress, only to satisfy. Lags Bar isn’t chasing trends. It’s feeding people. And that’s something worth sitting down for.

11/11/2025: We were visiting Sligo at the weekend. Booked a reservation on the Saturday morning for 10 people that evening. The young lad and girl who served us where brilliant. Really polite even though they were under pressure. Food was excellent. They brought 2 bowls of vegetables to the table which were absolutely gorgeous. I will visit again when in Sligo. Absolutely tops 👌
