The best restaurants in Sligo

13/05/2025: Get the wings, the big portion.

06/05/2025: What a let down this place was. Read such great things about the place so was delighted to get a table last minute without booking as this is a busy spot. French onion soup is divine but there the appreciation ended. My boyfriend got the arabiata pasta with chicken which was literally drowning in oil and the chicken was breaded goujons which has essentially congealed with the sauce to make a kind of mush around them and totally inedible. I got the 'Best ever burger' which wasn't properly cooked in the middle and had a seasoning or flavour that I couldn't decipher and wasn't pleasant. They asked at the start if we'd like their bread while we waited. This was lovely but nowhere on the menu did we see that there was a charge of €2 for this and nothing mentioned about an extra charge when we were asked so it was surprising to see on the bill at the end. We did complain about the food but nothing was taken off the bill so we paid €83 for 2 beers, some bread we didn't know we were being charged for and 2 inedible meals.

05/05/2025: A group of us stopped here, were made very welcome and got well fed. Pleasant decor, friendly efficient staff and spotless toilets.

25/05/2025: We came visited Strandhill twice on our vacation in the Sligo area… we also went to Shells twice and enjoyed a terrific lunch each time. Whether it’s a fried calamari salad or another lunch special, you can’t go wrong. This place also has lovely baked goods and excellent coffee. Don’t hesitate, there is a reason why this place is hopping!

25/05/2025: Food is fabulous and today was our first time to get a takeaway but was disappointed by the amount of chips with the burger, wasn't good value for money €17

09/04/2025: Very welcoming staff. Warm homely feel to it. Crows nesting in April is a nice novelty.

07/04/2025: The hotel is very easy to get your bearings in. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, Cleaning service is immaculate, you do not have to worry about any belongings going missing. Food is very good. I also forgot some clothes at the hotel and reception helped me out and sent me my belongings back via post. Overall great experience at the hotel all facilities met my needs and the kind gesture did not go unnoticed. Hats off to the Staff. 5/5 and would highly recommend this hotel.

10/05/2025: We dined at Cawleys for lunch and it was super. As a celiac, I can’t praise Teresa, Kerry and the team enough for their service. They didn’t bat an eyelid and had loads of celiac options. 10/10 will be back!!

10/05/2025: Lovely experience. Food was excellent, dinner the night before and breakfast the next morning. Great value for the night, €115 for a double room B&B. Staff were lovely and will definitely be back.

13/05/2025: Very pleasant stay. Beautiful hotel and beautiful rooms, very clean, with a lovely view of the river. Decent buffet breakfast with plenty of choices. Very good dinner at the hotel's restaurant "The Kitchen". Excellent cocktails at "The View" bar, but the bar can be really, really noisy on weekends, which spoils the experience. Excellent stay, however. Very pleasant, helpful, and attentive staff.

11/05/2025: The service was very good. Food and drinks very good. Room like a oven. Air conditioning was shocking. More like a greenhouse.

24/05/2025: So, leaving Sligo since we couldn't go to Slieve League, on our way to Derry on Saturday, we saw a sort of antiques roadside market and came across this place where we enjoyed a delicious soup of the day and a tasty sandwich, which in our case was chorizo ​​and chicken... delicious. Looking forward to trying the coffee and cakes they had. A charming and pleasant place.

20/03/2025: Had a vegan breakfast here and it was amazing! The chef was lovely and made it up for me and he checked if there was anything I didn't like. It was absolutely delicious especially the mushrooms, and the walnut and aubergine hummus was an extra delicious touch! Highly recommend!

09/03/2025: Stayed here for about a week or so in January while working around Lough Talt, and I have to say, it was a grand spot altogether. The staff were absolute gems—sound as a pound and always up for a chat. Breakfast was spot on, plenty to keep you going for the day. The rooms? Loads of space, none of that cramped nonsense. Parking was never an issue, which is a blessing when you’re coming back wrecked after a long day. And if you’re lucky enough to get one of the rooms facing the beach, the view is something else. Would happily stay again. Fair play to them!

21/05/2025: A second visit ... and we will be back for a third and fourth..... What a location and really lovely staff...everyone was friendly, professional and courteous. This hotel is really worth a visit...ignore the over picky naysayers...if you need 6 * standards go and pay for it. This is a superbly located, friendly 4* hotel. Enjoy!!

14/05/2025: Lust auf Steak, ein besonderes Steak, T-Bonesteak, irisches Rind, sehr sehr gut. Das gesamte Drumherum, Service waren ebenfalls sehr gut. Sehr empfehlenswert.

30/04/2025: The food, penne pasta and caesar salad, was wonderful. The wait staff, in trying to be efficient, gives a vibe that you should hurry up and eat! They do take reservations, and that is advisable, as there are limited restaurants in Strandhill. The back room and patio have a grand view of the water. Would definitely recommend dining here.
