02/10/2024: €8.50 for some salad leaves and falafel. Very poor value for money. They didn't even put in the hummus that was supposed to come with it. Vegetarian options very poor, and more expensive for some reason.

08/10/2024: My first time in Thurles was an absolute pleasure, many thanks to Larry's! Larry and the family serving me were incredibly kind and lovely to talk with; I would highly recommend Larry's to those who find themselves in the Tipperary area.

01/08/2024: Always love coming here as a treat midweek! Staff are friendly and attentive and myself and my Aunt have come to know the floor staff very well in the 3 years we've been coming here. Special shout outs to manager Jeremy and floor girl Anna- they're generally always on hand to ensure we have a great dining experience. Case in point, during my most recent visit, there was a problem with the Guinness Zero pouring machine so Anna kindly offered alternative non-alcoholic beers. I went with Heineken 0% and the pints were beautiful- crisp, icy cold and with nice frothy heads. Foodwise, I've never had a bad meal here. I would HIGHLY recommend the Chicken Burger and the steaks in particular which come served screamingly hot on a stone. While the lounge can get insanely busy on a Friday night due to either sporting events or special occasions eg: retirement parties, birthdays, etc, myself and my Aunt nearly always get good seats on account of being regulars. The staff treat us like old friends and go out of their way to ensure our comfort. I can't rate this pub highly enough. The atomosphere is usually relaxed and chilled, the service is quick and efficient and although the place is packed to the rafters during sporting events, it eventually quietens down after the final whistle. My only real criticism would be the fact that as of now, they no longer serve Daily Food Specials but having voiced this to the staff, I've been told there's a possibility of the return of the legendary Braised Beef Cheeks. I'll keep an eye out and amend my review if/when the specials come back. Over all, a great pub with lovely staff, delicious food, fun vibes and a great location. As a hotel, I've stayed overnight just once and can't fault it. The rooms are cosy without feeling pokey and despite being located directly over the Smoking Area, surprisingly quiet even at the height of the evening rush. The breakfast selection is also great- try the Eggs Benedict! Lastly, I'll say that you get great value for money here at The Forty Four- the pints are reasonably priced and the food is too. Whilst I'm not entirely sure how much an overnight stay is these days, you won't find a better hotel for location and access to bus lanes in Swords- the Pavillions/Swords Central Hub is just up the road with a cinema, restaurants and many bus routes to boot and in recent years, Swords Castle has been hosting several fun events so this is a great spot for a stay-cation. 10/10 Would HIGHLY recommend!

24/08/2024: Dragon Palace - A Disastrous Experience I am deeply disappointed by my recent experience with Dragon Palace, a restaurant that was once my family's favorite. We ordered food for what was supposed to be a special celebration, but it turned into a nightmare. First off, the food took over 90 minutes to arrive. By the time it finally did, it was stone cold, barely edible, and far from the quality we used to enjoy. The delay and the poor condition of the food completely ruined our evening. To make matters worse, when I contacted the restaurant, I had to argue just to get my money back. The customer service was shockingly unprofessional, adding insult to injury. I will never order from Dragon Palace again. They’ve lost a loyal customer, and I can’t believe how quickly they went from being a family favorite to an absolute disaster. If you’re considering ordering from here, think twice—you might end up with a ruined night like I did.

24/08/2024: Ordered food on JustEat that took 1hr and 35mins and a phone call to arrive, only to find it was stone cold. When we rang they said it was “messy” and that they couldn’t fix the issue today, to Call back tomorrow. After speaking with someone else, I got a refund but left with the cold food. I won’t be returning and after years of ordering from here, I’m taking my business elsewhere.

21/06/2024: A hidden gem. The best coffee in Thurles and a lot of other places both here and abroad. Their Tipperary roasted coffee has great complexity - caramel tones with a light smooth bitterness, a touch of smoke and great length on the palette. Try a flat white with a double ristretto, You can tell these are poured with skill. (Dedicated Coffee snob)

15/10/2024: We attended a wedding recently and the food and decor was beautiful.The hotel itself was beautiful and so was the ballroom. The food was great and the staff were so warm and welcoming and wouldn’t skip a beat to their service, I could not fault the service what so ever. A special part for me though was the service I received in the “Wheat Bar” where myself and a few of my family sat at the bar and asked a lovely bartender Josh for coffees. He showed us that the machines were off but if we didn’t mind waiting for it to heat back up he could make us them. We were delighted and asked for Calypso Coffees which he wasn’t sure of and asked either another staff member or management how to make it, after they spoke he turned everything on and made us them. They were so delicious we asked for another and might I say so professionally done it was hard to believe it was his first time making them I wish I took a picture before we all drank them. He was brilliant with my son sitting at the bar and was just overall great. It’s clear to see at that the hotel pride themselves in customer service as all the staff were just pleasures! Well done we will be returning !

10/09/2024: The only two important things to me were a good sleep and good breakfast, neither of which happened. The room is ok, the mattress I slept on was a disgrace with dips and raises on both sides of the double bed. The rooms are mostly quiet, but there was a lot of noise in the hallway. Breakfast looked very nice from the door, what was on offer was not great on closer inspection. Fruit clearly not fresh, warmish coffee with no flavour, dried out looking fry and the scrambled eggs were like jelly. I'm not sure what price the room was, I can only go by the prices on websites at present. Clearly cheaper prices means a drop in quality. Normally that would be reasonable, but the two main issues I have highlighted would stop me from booking a room here myself and I will be requesting not to be put up here again. I hope the hotel can see some benefit to resolving these issues.

01/11/2024: 5/5, 5/5 and 5/5. The best takeaway in clonmel. Been a regular costumer here, tried a variety of the food and all of it is very very fresh and top class. If I was to recommend the best takeaway in clonmel, it would be Noor’s kebab for sure. Ye are brilliant!

01/11/2024: Not a regular but I go here from time to time. They never fail to make great food. If ye don’t like it im assuming ye are just haters! Amazing food and staff, and you don’t even have to wait that long. 5-10 mins max. Keep it up!

18/06/2024: We had some good, inexpensive sandwiches and salads. They were very good about accomodating celiac, gluten free, and knew about cross contamination. A nice stop for a quick take away lunch.

24/10/2024: Best pizza I've had for a long time.

21/10/2024: Had a nice coffee & scone in the coffee shop which shares the premises. The Pizza parlour opens there later in the afternoon & evenings. The old Buttermarket café next door closed awhile back and many of it's former patrons frequent the new arm of Tom Skinny's. The decor & furniture could do with an uplift and softer furnishings might cut down the sound of voices to make for a more cosy experience. Otherwise, the staff and the café offerings were great. Nice lunch menu also.
