The best restaurants in Cork city council

02/07/2026: this shop has really nice staff they are always polite and welcoming on top of that their portions are always filled to the fullest and they have excellent products there particularly the icecream. For a small shop in cork which I think they would be more popular if they had more seating

02/06/2026: I got the Bueno Vista Berry Club shake and it tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend this place.

08/06/2026: By far the best bar in Cork. Great selection of Irish whiskey, good food, and Danny the co-owner was a really nice guy. Food 5stars Danny got me hooked on Red Breast 12yr Irish Whiskey. 5stars

29/05/2026: I am pretty amazed to read that this Place only has 4.2 stars. I found it to be completely charming. My Irish Coffee was out of this world. The other clientele were extremely friendly. Highly recommended 🙏🏾

18/06/2026: Thrive used to be my go to spot, such a handy stop with the drive through in a prime location. It was always super consistent, and a bonus that they served Stone Valley Coffee. Over time though, I found consistency dropped during busy periods, with quality feeling a bit rushed and more focused on quantity over care. I have also had a few experiences where walk ins seemed to be overlooked in favour of drive through orders. I understand the pressure of a busy setup like that, but consistency and quality should always come first. I’ve stopped coming as a result, which is a pity as it has a lot of potential. With a bit more consistency, I think the quality alone would keep people coming back.

15/07/2026: Food was decent service was good but it took quite a while to get the bill. We also needed a few things like ketchup and had to go up to the bar to receive it. Atmosphere was okay, lots of kids which makes it quite noisy.

05/07/2026: Popped in today with my 10yo after googling good spots for a burger in Cork. Place nails it. Simple menu, delicious food, staff were great without any fuss. Fair play lads. Will definitely be back.

30/06/2026: If I could give this place zero stars I would. Absolutely disgraceful. I'm writing this review because my father is too nice. My father has traveled the world and eaten at 1000's of restaurants without issue, until here. First time ever in his 25 years of travel he was denied service because he was alone. You turned away a paying customer because he was alone? What the actual??? Luckly he moved on and had a wonderful dinner elsewhere. But solo travelers beware. DO NOT EAT HERE, WELL YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO EAT HERE, but everyone else should also avoid this place too. Disgusting behavior.

28/06/2026: Douglas, Avoid if you want your delivery any bit warm. After 1 hour the food tracker said he'll be with me in 1 minute. That was fine. There was another 20 mins while it was saying 1 minute. It was delivered by deliveroo by a driver with no English so couldn't complain. Food was stone cold. I rang Oakfire douglas to complain and was told its not there problem and to take it up with deliveroo, basically they said there job is only to cook it , not deliver it. I asked them if they would send out a fresh warm order and i was again told, not their problem.

17/04/2026: I’ve been going to Hillbillies for more than 40 years. I have always thought it was best value for money and the food is delicious. It was our family favourite takeaway. Twice in the last few months we have got home to potions that were halved in size. The curry sauce halved and coleslaw halved in size. When we got home the half pot were not even full they were 3quarters full. The price is so expensive for the sauces and for the sizes they are. We got food tonight and paid over €30.00 for it. That’s no problem when we thought we knew what we were getting and to us it’s worth it. Not anymore! There was about 10 chips in a dinner box. The taco chips were half a box and it’s a smaller box now. Then we looked and there was not much meat either in the taco fries. It was so disappointing for a place we always loved to treat ourselves to. The quality is definitely not there now. We find it hard enough to get into the premises and it is normally worth making the trip through the disaster that is Mc Curtain street road works and no where to park. To come home to half potions was not something we were looking forward to. I was trying to ring to complain and got through to what sounded like a fax machine. So I had to write this instead. I was so annoyed. I was wondering do others find this as well. Update on this matter Hillbilly’s have improved since this review and now the sauces are back to the normal size and portions sizes are better. Still no parking and it is hard to get into the shop. A shop outside the city centre would help majority of people who aren’t able to get into the shop. Blackpool or Mayfield, Ballyvolane or Glanmire Update 16/04/2026 We called into get an early dinner today and we got the most amazing meal. It was piping hot and so fresh. I enjoyed my food so much. The whole meal was worth the money. The quality of the food and the service was of a very high standard. The guy who served us was so pleasant and very professional at his job. I bought some more food for my son, his girlfriend and my mam when leaving and they enjoyed their food also. Thank you for taking my review and working on what I suggested. I believe a great business does this very approach. Keep up the great work you do. We will be back.

29/05/2026: We organised a 50th birthday party here. Emmet and Aoife were so helpful and accommodating, the food was absolutely delicious, the function room is a fantastic spacious venue, the bar staff were brilliant on the night I would have no problem in recommending the Mount Oval to anyone, such nice people to deal with, 👍

17/05/2026: Had to change from Guinness to Coors as it was undrinkable. The Coors that came was under filled and flat.

05/07/2026: Italiano Pizza is one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten.

19/06/2026: At the moment when we get in, three tables were free and three were occupied. Two of free tables were for six people, and one for four. Although it was only two of us, we asked if we can get one of tables for six, because table for four is next to the door, and delivery service is also operating though that door. We were rejected with explanation that those tables are reserved. We ordered two pizzas, one on a gluten free base, and one pint of beer, (they don't have gluten free beer). Order was served in 15ish minutes and then the personal were changed.(Shift) Then, a single person enters and asked for a table, and, now a new waiter points guest for one of free tables for six. Wich obviously were not reserved. Both pizzas were delicious and perfect in all ways. Gluten free base was the best one I had in ages. It would be nice if GF beer was available too. Staff were friendly and polite. Place is clean and well maintained. We will come back, but not at the table next to the door.
