The best restaurants in Cork city council

28/09/2025: One of my favorite places to have a lovely coffee and amazing desserts. Staff is always very friendly.

13/09/2025: Server was lovely. But! I got ONE spoon of granola in my açai bowl which was kind of ridiculous. For €10.50 I should be getting at least three spoons. The barista made a great coffee but like price for return is non existent. Could be great as the location is handy and the cafe itself is lovely inside. Potentially a great place, but not quite there.

17/04/2026: 1★ – Supermac’s Lower Glanmire Road, Cork I’m a taxi driver and I’ve been using this Supermac’s for over 5 years. I’m on the road every day, I see how places operate, and tonight was one of the worst experiences I’ve had anywhere. Pulled into the drive-thru at 9:58pm. Closing time is 10pm. I get told they’re closed. That’s not a mistake — that’s pure laziness or someone deciding they’re done early. The excuse I was given was that “the system shut itself down.” So what — your system doesn’t match real time? That’s not my problem. Fix your system, don’t use it as a shield to turn customers away before closing time. What really made this unacceptable was the attitude. No apology. No effort. Just confusion, mixed messages, and then being told to come to the window. At the window, I was met by a manager — clearly newer — and honestly one of the most arrogant attitudes I’ve come across in a long time. Straight away defensive, dismissive, and talking down instead of dealing with the situation properly. I showed him the time — still before 10 — and he simply didn’t care. I wasn’t looking for a lecture. I was there to order food before your advertised closing time. I’ve seen this place operate for years. I’ve personally watched cars get served after 10pm. I’ve seen people sitting inside past closing. So don’t pretend this is some strict rule — it isn’t. It completely depends on who’s on shift, and tonight it was handled in the worst possible way. The way the window was half opened, closed, opened again said everything. Even he knew it was being handled badly, but his ego was more important than doing the right thing. As a taxi driver, I’m constantly around customers — locals, tourists, regulars — and people ask me where to go. Experiences like this make it very easy to tell them where not to go. I’ve spent a lot of money here over the years. That clearly counts for nothing now. If this is the standard of your management: Closing times mean nothing Systems don’t work properly Customers are treated like a nuisance Then don’t be surprised when people stop coming. Sort it out. UPDATE: I appreciate the prompt response from Supermac’s asking for more details. For clarity, this occurred at the Lower Glanmire Road (Tivoli) location at approximately 9:58pm, just before the 10pm closing time. The explanation given at the time was that “the system had shut itself down,” which raises concerns if systems are not aligned with actual operating hours. The bigger issue, however, remains how the situation was handled, the lack of clear communication and the dismissive attitude at the window. I’m happy to provide further details directly, but I hope this is reviewed properly, as this does not reflect the standard this location used to have.

14/01/2026: I have diarrhea the next day after eating the steak.

06/01/2026: The meat here is incredible! I ordered the ribeye sandwich for 15 euros; it was generously filled and came with delicious roast potatoes. It's definitely one of the best places in Cork for meat in terms of value, as these types of restaurants in Ireland are usually expensive, but here all the stalls have roughly the same prices.

07/04/2026: The atmosphere is typical of an Irish pub, welcoming and trendy. I made a reservation, they were very thorough and even asked for the age of my guests. On the scheduled day, the kitchen was closed and I had no food to serve my guests. This is absurd, considering that when I made the reservation I said we only wanted to eat, drink and talk.

27/03/2026: They don’t put enough people on during busy times and it’s crazy to get a drink. Also smells

15/01/2026: Lovely food. Usually good service. Not today though. The girl behind the counter taking orders and money was completely disinterested. No eye contact. No smile. Rude. When you're there to spend almost 20 rag for your munch for breakfast you'd like to feel like you're welcomed to the establishment. Not today. The nose ringed, arm tattooed, gum chewing cashier just didn't make us feel welcomed. That's enough to sway me to never patronise the calf gaff ever again. Shame really. Coz as I say... The food is good. I'm not gonna be made feel like an unwanted customer though. Unwanted? Fair enough. They're not getting my service again. Bye bye.

23/11/2025: I had a craving for a good toastie all week and I immediately thought of De Calf. Toastie is excellent. Nice coffee. Friendly and efficient service. Warm atmosphere.

24/09/2025: Good place to try pastries and coffee. Economical and has good options.

16/09/2025: Delicious food with great attention to detail and presentation. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and provide excellent service. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, making it a perfect spot for both a quick bite and a longer meal. Highly recommend!
