The best restaurants in Cork

01/06/2026: SOMA was our final planned café stop in Cork, and given the strong reviews, we arrived with fairly high expectations. I'll admit that seeing multiple locations initially made me assume it was more of a commercial coffee chain, which usually lowers my expectations a little. In reality, it feels much more like a small specialty coffee group that has simply expanded successfully. We visited on a weekend afternoon and it wasn't overly busy. A few of us grabbed takeaway coffees, and I went for an iced black Americano. The coffee was well made and clean in profile, leaning more towards bitterness than acidity. There wasn't much in the way of fruit or citrus notes, and on a warmer day I think it might have felt a little heavy for my personal preference, but it was still an enjoyable cup. We also picked up some protein balls. Fair play for offering healthier snack options, but let's be honest, protein balls rarely win any awards for flavour and these weren't the exception. Service was probably the weakest part of the visit. The team came across a little cold and transactional, although it was only a brief interaction so I wouldn't read too much into it. One thing I really liked about this location was the setup. It's clearly very laptop friendly, with plenty of seating and lots of people working away on their computers. If I lived in Cork, I could easily see this becoming one of my regular work cafés. Overall, a solid specialty coffee spot with a good setup, competent coffee, and a space that encourages people to stay awhile. Not quite my favourite café in Cork, but definitely one I'd happily visit again.

16/05/2026: We were in Cork for a day-trip & looked up the best coffee spots. Hard to believe that this place was on the list. Unwelcoming, unfinished (??) interior. Pretentious/grumpy staff. Dirty tables. Coffee menu isn’t clear & if you ask any questions about it, they answer you in a condescending way, like you’re an idiot. The only good thing about the place was the quality of the coffee, but not worth tolerating bad customer service & bad atmosphere.

23/10/2025: Seems to be only a haven for racist and fascist ideologies. Walking down the street, I took off a sticker for an openly fascist political party on a pole near the cafe. Almost immediately, three men ran out from the cafe, dressed in clothes that indicated they worked there. They screamed at me, threatened me, and intimated that they had put up the sticker. I have no idea if the owner holds these views or is aware that at least three people working there do so, but it certainly casts doubt on the cafe’s name and reputation.

04/04/2026: Food itself was nice. Was disappointed to not be able to edit burgers (e.g. remove sauce) on the screen so had to order at the counter but member of staff was more than happy to help. Ladies toilets upstairs didn't have any paper in and neither of the toilets would flush.

06/03/2026: I will not be supporting the Bandon road supermacs any longer due to inconsiderate management. A week prior I ordered from a different supermac and honest mistake, placed another order and forgot to change the pick up address. I immediately called the supermacs and asked for my order to be transferred to Bandon supermacs, which they were 100% willing to do. However. Bandon supermacs was not willing to accept the transfer order from the other supermacs francise, even though they called to confirm the situation. I have been coming to Bandon supermacs every friday in support of the business, but will no longer do so.You have lost a loyal customer.

16/11/2025: Consistently excellent food and service. There is a separate vegan/vegetarian menu with a range of good options.

06/09/2025: Fantastic hotel and restaurant. The food was top notch. Highly recommend this place. And you never know who you might meet

25/03/2026: Nice bar but the young fellas behind it could learn how to serve people properly. I waited to get served for about 10 minutes. They kept serving others who had come to the bar after me. Tunnel vision. I pointed it out to a barman..got a shrug, and he still went & served other people.. he finally came back and took my order 5 minutes later. Very poor service. Chicken Burger I ordered arrived with about 6 chicken goujons inside it...wasnt a burger at all.

08/06/2026: I came in here to try enjoy myself and relax. I was told this was a nice place but I know now whoever said that is really wrong. I was well behaved all night sitting across from the bar at a table on my owe. Near the end of the night I saw a guy order a drink. I decided to go straight up and order one too for myself. The guy who looks only like a student probably likes to look the part told me I had enough and not been served. I could not believe it. I told him I had not much but he said get out. I was not one but happy about it. So I wanted to stand up for myself a prove he was wrong. He got the security and they were very aggressive for no reason. I was walking away when they forced me back in and tried to attack me. A group of them and only me. It was very bad and they should be brought up for it. I told many people and it's not good for yer city . We won't be traveling up to this city again in a hurry. It's very bad the way I was treated.

08/06/2026: Cool venue with huge drink selection and great bands

17/05/2026: Got the bagel special with tomato soup. Both were delicious. Service was also very good.

31/01/2026: Im a regular here, i always come in to enjoy the mexican chicken melt and normally the service is great, but ive noticed the past 2 months the atmosphere is so hostile in here. The manager looks really stressed and the girls seem to be too? Hope that everything is okay. I know they had a new owner come in I just hope theyre treating the girls properly

07/04/2026: The atmosphere is typical of an Irish pub, welcoming and trendy. I made a reservation, they were very thorough and even asked for the age of my guests. On the scheduled day, the kitchen was closed and I had no food to serve my guests. This is absurd, considering that when I made the reservation I said we only wanted to eat, drink and talk.

27/03/2026: They don’t put enough people on during busy times and it’s crazy to get a drink. Also smells

24/05/2026: Ordered through Deliveroo, paid nearly 40€ for this 2 dishes.. no noodles or rice coming and on top not really nice looking nor tasty Very disappointed

16/03/2026: Travelled down for a meetup for the Irishmags, nice welcome in pub. Pints were lovely especially Murphy's. We got platters of food and it was excellent , chicken wings amazing

15/03/2026: Nice bar a bit off the beaten track in Cork but well worth a visit. Great pint of Beamish and they show live sport. They do great food but we didn't get to try it.

22/03/2026: First time dine in, the food was amazing the service was a bit behind. Complements to the chef and team. My wife and I had a dish with tiger prawns and lamb. Everything really tasted good. Very impressed with the size and I ended very satisfied.
