24/08/2025: Very welcoming and old school pub. Maybe one of the top Guinness pours I had in Dublin, served by a very friendly bartender. A great spot to tuck in and settle for a couple drinks. Very relaxing, would recommend!

24/07/2025: The Argentine bar manager (maybe had a bad) shut down the Kareoke because I said to him he can’t run the bar and kareoke at the same time (the were understaffed). When the bartender came back he refused to run the kareoke as planned. Sorry his pride was hurt but he’s not a child he’s working there.

Groundstate Coffee

I've been to Groundstate Coffee twice now, and both times were genuinely good. The mushy toasty and the pastrami sandwich are definitely worth trying - fresh, tasty, and filling without being heavy. Their flat white is smooth and well made, and the chai latte was also really nice.
The atmosphere is relaxed but still has a bit of character, and both times the staff were friendly and welcoming, which makes a big difference. It's a great spot if you want a solid breakfast and a proper coffee without any fuss.
Happy I found this place - I'll definitely keep coming back when I'm in the area.
22/07/2025: Have to say Groundstate has the best filter coffee in Dublin 8! Super fruity and really really tasty. Super knowledgeable and friendly staff and with an epic coffee knowledge! Would 100% recommend this place if you love tasty coffee!

16/08/2025: I got served twice, but then I was told I was wearing tracksuit bottoms so I wasn't being served. These are not obvious tracksuit bottoms. While there is a sign, it's obscured by the frosted glass door when you open it. You can't see through the glass either and because you people generally don't look up and to the left, this sign might as well not be present.
These particular bottoms haven't been an issue anywhere else.
That said it is a decent pint.

11/09/2025: We just left after spending 3 days in Dublin. Upon arriving early from our overnight flight we went directly to the Kingfisher-staff welcomed us and made up our room early!!! (We were expecting just to drop off our luggage). We had to try lunch at the Kingfisher too…food was excellent as was the service. Owners provided exceptional communication. Location is perfect to the city center….we walked everywhere. Highly recommend and will stay here again!!!!
08/09/2025: Gillian and Malcolm were very helpful, and we had a great trip to Dublin! The Kingfisher is super convenient and walking distance to many of the great attractions in Dublin. They can hold your bags if you check in early or have a later flight which was very helpful. Definitely recommend staying here.

08/09/2025: Nice to return to Riggers D8, where it all started! If only for my usually double espresso. Iv resisted the scrummy scones this morning.
What I continue to love here are the staff and it’s great to see someone on their first day anywhere! Today I talk about the very helpful, smiley and professional Darragh. He is here on work experience and seems like he’s also in excellent care with his colleagues here.
Thank you everyone and so nice to pop in again.

Herbert Park Hotel

16/08/2025: The hotel is located in the embassy district, away from the hustle and bustle, but still close to the city center.
The rooms are spacious and clean. Our bathroom only had a shower, although all the others we could see from the hallway during cleaning had bathtubs.
One star deducted for the pathetic takeaway breakfast we requested during a day trip. I felt it was too little for the money, as it only included two pieces of fruit and a muffin.
14/08/2025: We were contemplating to stay more central location or Herbert Park Hotel till the last moment, and were glad with our final decision. It is a bit away from the downtown, yet maybe due to the distance, quiet and peaceful.
We walked to the downtown, which took less than 30 min. There is a nice beach nearby and was perfect for my morning run. Also, there was a farmer's market at the park on Sundays!
The room was spacious, so as the bathroom. I liked the nice deep bathtub.
We stayed mostly at B&Bs during our trip to Ireland. Luckily it was not too hot, yet when we were back to Dublin, A/C in the room was a nice addition.
