The best restaurants in Dublin

25/10/2024: I would walk over 10,000 miles of broken glass for that duck ragu.

11/10/2024: We were celebrating as a family and were looking forward to sampling the Locks menu as we had heard great things about it. I booked online and put a credit card down to secure the booking. The lady on arrival was a little cool and said we were too early so directed us to the bar. The man behind the bar was busy but acknowledged us and welcomed us warmly. We were directed to our table in the middle of the room and when the waiter took our order he wasn’t very friendly at all. We ordered a €50 bottle of organic prosecco, a soft drink for our daughter, 8 oysters, 2 main courses and 4 small plates. He said in a surly manner that the restaurant policy stipulated that we must order 1 main per person, so we therefore needed to order another main course. We explained that our daughter wasn’t hungry enough to order another main but he kept insisting it was the restaurant policy and he said every restaurant in Dublin is the same. We calmly and reasonably explained that we didn’t need an extra full meal and felt we had ordered a lot. He finally said he would need to check with management and left us to discuss. He came back after a few minutes and said he was willing to take a third order of a starter (15) rather than a main course (35). We didn’t want to make a fuss as it was a special night but felt we had to mention it here as it seems a bizarre policy. Our bill was €210 in the end and the food was delicious but I feel fair in saying we shouldn’t have been forced to order an extra meal when we were ordering so many extras. It was a shame as it could’ve been a truly special night but left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth as the waiter made us feel we weren’t really welcome there. Perhaps a minimum spend would make more sense?

11/11/2024: Great little find on our first night in Dublin. Staff were very friendly, Beef Stew was amazing and of course the pint of Guinness was perfect. We'll be back.

19/08/2024: Today I went into MeMa's bar in an Armani sweatshirt. They sent me out saying that I can't enter this. I bought the heater for almost €300. it's like a black pant. I work in the shop next to the pub and I also live in this house, whenever they came from the pub they always helped us. I went home, changed into a suit and went back. This addition is very negative. I don't think it's appropriate to run a pub like this, which isn't even a big number, the waiters with such an attitude should go find a dishwasher. I will not recommend this place to anyone as long as the waiters are like this.

07/07/2024: Nice place and nice people. They have pizza, beer, and live football (Euro 2024). Crowded but not too crowded.

30/09/2024: Took a trip to Urban Health last weekend for brunch and it was AMAZING! I got the Urban Eggs and Super Green juice. Great cosy spot with indoor seating and also outdoor seating if the sun is shining! Staff are also so friendly. 10/10 from me!

11/06/2024: The owner made a cheeky reply (how fitting) when I generously gave them a blank 3-star review for fairly poor service. So I'll give them my actual rating, even though I hate doing it to small businesses. There are three main reasons for my rating: Firstly, the staff weren't attentive. We had to go to the counter and ask for a menu after waiting at the sign for a while. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. Afterwards, we had to go back to the counter again to order our food and coffees because the staff kept walking past us. This would be fine if the place was busy, but it wasn't. Secondly, we waited about 10 minutes before our coffees arrived. Then the food arrived immediately after. I don't know about you guys, but it isn't optimal to keep a table waiting for coffees and then serve them alongside hot food. People generally don't like to drink hot drinks with hot main meals, unless the food is something small like a toastie. Thirdly, the coffee and food require some improvement. The cappuccino was served in a small, regular mug and tasted worse than many coffees I've tried before. I'd suggest increasing the temperature, portion size, and bean strength. I got the Irish breakfast and the sausages and rashers were anemic. The beans, egg, and black pudding were fine. They served two slices of toast for both of us, even though we both ordered a full Irish; one of the slices had a tiny insect on it. We didn't receive the white pudding as advertised on the menu. Furthermore, the full Irish served here gives you less, and the aforementioned anemic sausages and rashers leave you unfulfilled. Other cafes like the Woodmill Cafe provide excellent full Irish breakfasts. Other than that, the place is clean and their outdoor area is sufficient. It seems like people were frequently ordering the alcoholic drinks, so this place seems like it'd be a good choice if you're looking for a casual few cocktails outside. The table beside us commented that the chicken bap — or something like it — was 'very nice.' I won't discuss pricing as the menu is visible on their website.

09/06/2024: Cheeky Piglet is a hidden gem tucked away in an unexpected spot! You might walk right by it if you weren’t looking for it, but it’s absolutely worth seeking out. The cozy atmosphere and charming decor create a welcoming vibe, and the food is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish is bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience off the beaten path, Cheeky Piglet is the place to go. Highly recommend!

13/10/2024: Ich hatte vorab online einen Tisch reserviert war problemlos möglich war und sehr praktisch wenn man ein Tourist ist. Der afternoon tea war mit 30€ p/P einer der günstigeren die ich online gefunden habe und wir wurden sehr sehr positiv überrascht. Das Restaurant ist Teil des Hotels und hat einen klassischen Charm. Die Auswahl war gut gewählt und für jeden etwas dabei. Der Tee und der Kaffee waren beide sehr gut. Auch der Service war sehr freundlich.

22/09/2024: Had afternoon tea here with my siblings, it was for a birthday and they had set the table nicely with balloons and a banner. The desserts were very tasty and the sandwiches were so fresh which is really appreciated as some places pre portion their afternoon teas.

21/10/2024: Dog friendly place with a nice big outdoor seated area behind the bar with heaters and a shelter over the top. Food was good sized portions and we were all full and happy after it. Staff were very good at accommodating requests

01/11/2024: Possibly the best Indian in Dublin. Went there for dinner, had the chilli chicken w/ paratha and lamb boti as a starter - absolutely delicious. Great spice levels as well. Staff are super friendly.

12/11/2024: I had a trip to Dublin with my daughter, and we stayed at The Morrison, It's so central to the city centre, and the Luas stop was literally around the corner. We got to the hotel two hours before our check-in time and were delighted to be told that our room was available, The staff at the front desk were very friendly and polite, our room was bright and spacious, and the bathroom had a shower as well as a bath. A very nice experience overall.

14/10/2024: Hotel was great. So well located. Across the bridge from Temple Bar. Easy to walk anywhere in Dublin. Staff is very good. Rooms are a little small but the suite is wonderful. Highly recommend. Valerie are the front desk was very nice.

11/11/2024: The burgers are amazing. I loved that the letter was card size.

10/11/2024: Amazing burger Restaurant. Get the double cheese burger (medium) you won't regret it, amazing burger. The shoestring fries are also absolutely worth it. The service was very friendly and very quick. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a shot!

16/11/2024: My wife and I had the best date night! The food was exquisite and the serving impecable. Since it was our anniversary, the staff surprised us with a loaf of their in house baked sourdough bread that we took home and enjoyed next day for breakfast!

26/10/2024: Best PUB!!! Spacious, good music, delicious burger and that cold, well-served Pint! All attentive and friendly staff! It's really worth it :)

06/11/2024: I would like to thank Colman and Veronica for accommodating us when we were looking to book in a funeral party at short notice. Their professionalism and assistance in a difficult time was outstanding and the venue and food outdid our expectations.
