20/11/2025: I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich for €9, and what arrived was an existential culinary challenge. This wasn't a sandwich; it was a treasure hunt.
I spent the first five minutes gently moving the beautiful, vibrant red onion slices aside, whispering, "Where are you, my pink prince?" I finally located the salmon: three slivers, shivering nervously, doing their best to hide beneath the cheese. I think the kitchen staff used an electron microscope to measure the portion.
I'm giving it two stars because the bread was cut into two very generous slices, and the red onions were truly exceptional. If you're looking for a delightful onion sandwich with a whisper of fish, this is your spot. If you want salmon, bring your own fishing gear.

05/04/2026: We were only there for the food. The selection of pasta (especially vegan) was fantastic! I especially liked that you could choose your own type of pasta. The garlic bread was delicious, and so was the pasta.

02/04/2026: Room was not ready at 4 and had to wait over an hour for it to be ready. I had requested twice interconnecting rooms but was given adjacent. These were eventually changed. When we got to the room the interconnecting doors were locked. There was also no remote control in one of the rooms. We eventually got these issues resolved but was not a good start . Staff at reception said we would receive a call to update us on when room would be ready. No call. They did not update us and we were left standing in the hotel foyer for over an hour. We had to approach them for an update on our room. It was bad customer service. Manager eventually came over to us and showed us to our rooms.
01/04/2026: We had a fantastic dining experience, made even better by our wonderful waiter, Naveen. He was incredibly polite, kind, and attentive throughout our visit.

30/03/2026: The food here is decent, we’ve ordered a few times and usually enjoy what actually arrives. Unfortunately, they almost always miss something from the order when it’s delivered. And it’s not just small things like a drink, recently it was one persons full meal. To make matters worse, we’ve tried calling several times when items are missing and they don’t answer the phone, so there’s no way to resolve the issue or even let them know.
It’s a real shame because we do like the food, but it’s frustrating not being able to rely on your full order turning up. Decent food, but the consistent mistakes and lack of communication mean we won’t be ordering again.
29/03/2026: The owner itself, Eddie, is super accommodating and friendly! No questions about their foods. It's perfect!

06/12/2025: We booked the function room in Kelehans for our work Christmas party. Everyone had a fantastic night. The service was exceptional. Nothing was too much bother. The food was lovely and great value. The function room is a lovely modern space. Would highly recommend this venue for functions. Would definitely book again!
01/12/2025: Last year we ate here at least 6 times. Loved the Korean chicken wings. Today we went and the wi is were a huge disappointment. Completely different and no flavor. What happened??

This is a handy spot 20 minutes drive from Galway center. It is easy to get a bus or taxi to eyre square. Breakfast and rooms were good. I liked the canopied outdoor seating area.

10/04/2026: Had a really nice stay at The Flannery's. We were able to check in about 3 hours early with no issues, which was a great start. The hotel was wheelchair friendly, the room was cozy and warm, and everything was kept clean throughout our stay.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, and having Netflix on the TV was a lovely bonus for those rainy days when the missus and I just wanted to stay in bed and have a movie day.
The location was very handy too. The bus stop was only a 2 to 3 minute walk away, and buses ran every 10 to 15 minutes, even late at night, so getting around was easy.
Breakfast being included was a big plus, and the food was tasty with both hot and cold options. Only complaint is the missus couldn’t find a croissant on the last day, which she may never fully recover from.
Overall, very good value for money and a comfortable place to stay. We’d happily stay again.

The House Hotel

18/03/2026: The room was great and the included breakfast was fantastic! Also a perfect location for a one night stopover to fully enjoy the Latin Quarter.
However, the check-in experience really dampened our enthusiasm. Expecting Galway would be busy for St Patrick's weekend, a few months ago we researched hotel rates and reserved at HH's "special offer" at the time, €199/night. Definitely higher than every other city/town on our 2 week trip, but assumed high season in a city.
Waiting in line at check-in though, two separate parties of walk-in/no reservations ahead of us were offered the current special of almost 50% less, €105. When we asked if we could switch to this rate, we were told this was not possible, we would have had to cancel our existing reservation 48 hours in advance and then re-book at the current offer rate. The only option was being upgraded to a larger room. We had not paid for the room yet, and the reservation was directly through the hotel, not a 3rd party booking site.
Very disappointing initial impression of an otherwise enjoyable visit.
14/03/2026: I booked at the very last minute on the bus when I arrived in Galway, and what a wonderful surprise! Everything was absolutely perfect from beginning to end.
I was greeted by a very kind young lady whose name I unfortunately forget, and then Paige took over and looked after everything with incredible care. Truly exceptional service.
The room was magnificent, incredibly quiet, soft, and comfortable. The bottle of Prosecco included in my package was a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch. As for the bed… simply heavenly!
The hotel is ideally located right in the city center, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic!
All the staff are smiling, welcoming, and very professional. And for such quality, the price is very reasonable.
I recommend this establishment 2000% and sincerely hope to have the opportunity to return someday.
A huge thank you to the entire team!

12/04/2026: The worst hotel we have stayed at in Ireland.
The location was great. However, there were lots of things that were not great here.
1. Sliding outside doors were sticky and would not open and there was a delay. One would have to stand in the rain and wind and wait. Why haven't they fixed this glitch?
2. The shower drain was clogged and flooded the bathroom in our room.
3. Maintenece came and it took a a while for them to fix it. The maintenence person thought it was okay to whistle while we were in our room and he was fixing it.I had condtioner in my hair. It was a bit creepy. He said it was from someone with long hair. It was 1st the time we used the shower in the room. Why are they not managing this before turning over rooms?
4. At times they did not have enpugh staff or any staff at the front desk. They had some unprofessional and disrepectful reception staff that were inappropriate.
5.The room was about £200. A night to stay at this chaotic and disorganised hotel withh some poorly trained staff.
6. Maid service was inconsistent and they did weird things like take the robe i was using and did not give us more coffee pods to use. They did give us other things. just wierd.
7. Fire alarm went off a couple times one morning. No explanation.
8. Pillows were uncomfortable.
We stayed at 4 other hotels that were all much better while in Ireland.
4 star prices and 2 star service and up keep of the hotel.
It was not all bad. The bed was comfortable and the room had a great view of the river. There were few good front desk staff and we were lucky when they were working.
No apologies for all the things that went wrong. We attempted to leave early but could not change our fligts. We realized we would have preferred to stay in the Salt Hill area. It is pretty loud and drunk near the Latin Quarter at times in the evening.
Save your self the hassle and stay elsewhere.
