09/09/2025: Brilliant coffee and a great place for lunch

09/09/2025: Its such a shame this place is so hidden!! Hopefully we can make it less 'hidden gem' and more 'fan favorite.' I've never had a better cup of coffee in Galway and the deals they have on are insane. If you want the CHEAPEST and BEST cup of coffee you've had, its worth the trip. Not to mention the owner is so incredibly kind and knowledgeable about what hes doing. There's an outdoor seat and and the food was so good for such a cute little sandwich. I genuinely wish them the best success and if anyone in the park hasn't checked them out, they should!

10/02/2026: I always love popping in to check out the books and games and miniatures, and trying to resist temptation. You can pay €8 for a coffee & donut and borrow one of their massive selection of board games for a couple hours, very fun way to spend an afternoon.

29/10/2025: I can’t comment as to the quality of the rooms as we only visited for breakfast. I was quite underwhelmed… premium prices for a very bland food offering. I felt rushed, despite the place being relatively empty perhaps best seen when the waitress ushered to clear our table whilst my wife was still eating. I shall not be coming back. Salthill Cottage is only a short drive away and offers better value, nicer surroundings, better food and nicer staff.

17/01/2026: Brilliant meal. Jordan the manager was fantastic and looked after us very well. Really nice Malbec and nice cold filtered water

14/01/2026: Price was fairly high for a burger, buffalo wings , a glass and a pint of beer, over €40. My wife and I were shown to a table that had one chair, I had to walk over to another table and ask the customers there if I could take their spare chair. The girl that showed us to the table eventually came back to take our order around 15 minutes later. The food was nice but the experience not so much.

14/11/2025: Update two years on from the below: still absolutely unreal. Nostalgia can sometimes give me high hopes but Antons always delivers. The eggs are as gorgeous as they always have been and its a lovely calm morning full of clear regulars in for the best grub and relaxing start to the day. Recently revisited Antons for the first time since before the pandemic and it was refreshing to experience it only getting better. The best scrambled eggs in Ireland without a doubt, and a lovely space to enjoy them in. Loved for years and the staff are always so welcoming and friendly

09/03/2026: The food was excellent and the atmosphere was ambiant, lovely soft lighting and beautifully laid-out. The service was a different story, however. My friends and I were thoroughly enjoying our meal when we were abruptly served our bill, while we were still eating our mains and well over an hour before close (people came in and sat down to eat after this incident occured). It very much felt like we were being hinted at to leave. However, since we had each bought a main and drink we decided to continue enjoying our food and wine (more than half of the bottle was still left). Not long after, a waitress came over looking for our payment at the table, while most of my friends' glasses were still more than half-full and little over an hour after we had sat down for what we thought would be a meal (I can't call it that as we weren't given the option to order desert, which we had wanted to do). If the previous action had been a hint, this felt like a warning that our time was up. Just to reiterate: this was still over an hour before close and some other customers had not even been served their food, so the kitchen was still operational as was the bar. Other customers who had been sitting down eating when we arrived were still there after we left. Looking around, it seemed we were the only table to be served the bill so abruptly, which felt uncalled for as we were polite all evening and caused no trouble. I will say that each of the waiters was polite and courteous, it felt like maybe they were pushed into urging us out the door by someone higher up since their manners didn't match their actions. Delicious food but I for one won't be back sadly as none of us felt welcome here.

15/02/2026: Really good service and atmosphere.

31/10/2025: Called in here for lunch during the week, was seated and had my order in front of me within 10/15 minutes. Their toasted sandwich, chicken pesto sandwich and chips were all super delicious and extremely well priced. Highly recommend stopping in here if you're in Athlone and looking for a tasty and affordable meal.

01/02/2026: I’ve been to this restaurant with my wife and kids three or four times before and never had any issues. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different, mainly due to the service. Our server was a young girl, so hopefully this improves with time, but on this occasion she was unfriendly and seemed completely uninterested from the start. We ordered over €200 worth of food. One person in our group wasn’t very hungry and only wanted a starter, but was told she had to order at least €15 worth of food. As a result, she was forced to order two starters just to meet the minimum spend, which felt unnecessary and unreasonable. Service was extremely slow. It took over an hour to receive our food after ordering. During that time, dozens of takeaway orders were being handed to delivery drivers. It was very obvious that takeaway app orders were being prioritised over customers dining in. After the long wait, the order was still wrong. I also brought my 4-year-old son to the toilet, and shockingly there was blood all over the underside of the toilet seat. This was absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable, especially in a place serving food. Once the food finally arrived, the server never checked if everything was okay, never asked if we needed more drinks, and essentially disappeared. When it came time to pay, I had to get up myself to ask. I requested to pay separately for myself and for my wife and kids, and the server was clearly unhappy about having to split the bill, despite it being over €200. I will say that when the food arrived, the food itself was very good. However, the dine-in experience was so poor that I’ll only consider getting takeaway from here in the future

18/12/2025: Friendly and welcoming staff, excellent cappuccino and scones, and a great bustling atmosphere. Very well priced for the quality on offer.

29/09/2025: A very cool venue, the staff were all proper sound and the atmosphere was great. If you're a cider drinker, they sell Cronin's, so I'd recommend you ask for that.

03/11/2025: Walking through the rainy streets of Galway, we stumbled upon this cozy spot. It turned out to be a great find! My friend and I enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate and a smooth cappuccino, but the real highlight was the desserts — absolutely worth it.

28/12/2025: Welcoming atmosphere, highly qualified staff, very little waiting time. The pancakes are excellent, the hot chocolate is outstanding and comes with a super cute personalized design. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, but the Italian guy, Enrico, is truly exceptionally kind and courteous

18/12/2025: Top notch brunch and breakfast as well as coffee! Hands down best French toast experience I’ve had during my trip to Galway and probably ever! Flat white is on point and the value is great for portions. The smoothies are also excellent. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
