The best restaurants in Galway

14/11/2025: Update two years on from the below: still absolutely unreal. Nostalgia can sometimes give me high hopes but Antons always delivers. The eggs are as gorgeous as they always have been and its a lovely calm morning full of clear regulars in for the best grub and relaxing start to the day. Recently revisited Antons for the first time since before the pandemic and it was refreshing to experience it only getting better. The best scrambled eggs in Ireland without a doubt, and a lovely space to enjoy them in. Loved for years and the staff are always so welcoming and friendly

08/06/2026: Got the fish and chip and it wasn't great. The pint left a lot to be desired too. The barman was on the ball but personally I won't be back.

31/05/2026: I should have known as soon as I saw it being served cafeteria style. I chose the roast beef and saw that gravy wasn't going to make this any less dry. A smarter version of myself would've turned around and left but my hunger makes bad decisions. The plate looks beautiful, for a moment its looks gave me hope. Im going to make a guess that this food was not cooked today, possibly not even yesterday, but reheated several times under that heat lamp. Personally Id feel criminal charging what I paid for this.

03/11/2025: Walking through the rainy streets of Galway, we stumbled upon this cozy spot. It turned out to be a great find! My friend and I enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate and a smooth cappuccino, but the real highlight was the desserts — absolutely worth it.

04/05/2026: Would highly recommended anyone going into Galway centre should go to Darcy’s Bar. Amazing atmosphere and staff are wonderful! Had the best time, will be coming back very soon and this place will be the first place I go!!! From England Kent.

19/11/2025: The music is too loud, the seating is subpar, the patrons are often obnoxious. The best part about it is the kind staff, and the cool art around the place. But that cannot save this place from bad clientele. Oh, and the drinks are too expensive.

06/06/2026: Was overcharged in this place. €18.30 for one pint of Guinness!🤔 unfortunately didn’t spot it until I checked my bank transactions afterwards.

26/05/2026: Great location and a very clean establishment. Service was amazing with the friendly staff. The only reasons I couldn’t give more stars is because the rooms are tiny and there’s no thermostat, making it very hard to sleep if you’re hot-natured. One of the workers was kind enough to bring us a fan, which made it more tolerable to sleep. Food in restaurant was delicious as well!!

15/05/2026: Rooms are small but well appointed, especially in the new premises adjacent to the bar. Service is excellent and a Sliding Rock breakfast needs to be walked off. It'll keep you going until dinner.

01/05/2026: Small quaint place which gives you the authentic hole in the wall vibes. The staff were wonderful. The burrito was good in size but I didnt find anything spicy whatsever. It was actually sweet. So if you want something thats actually spicy, dont bother with the hottest one.

21/04/2026: The quesadilla it’s not worth it. Just a basic wrap with some cheese on it. Wouldn’t pay 8 euros again for this

01/06/2026: Well, we had a bad experience there due to poor service. While we were enjoying our beers we discovered that the couch we were sitting on was completely wet, we didn't know what it was, I don't want to think about it... and one of us needed to go away to change their trousers as they were completely soaked. We asked for at least one free pint due to the damage of clothes as a refund for the inconvenience, and it was refused. We were only brought a roll of blue paper that was just left on the table, not sure what the purpose of that was. That's not a great way to treat regular customers who bought food and drinks there many times in the past years. I do not suggest this place anymore.

12/05/2026: This bar is beloved to my wife and I now. The staff was great, the food was great, and the pints were great. We stayed at the Glenlo Abbey and walked to this pub every night we were there. Coming back every time we stay in Galway

18/12/2025: Friendly and welcoming staff, excellent cappuccino and scones, and a great bustling atmosphere. Very well priced for the quality on offer.

03/12/2025: Just absolutely wonderful pastry. Wide selection and decent prices. Huge bonus a very clean bathroom.

08/04/2026: Excellent selection of gin with exceptional service. Our bartender ladies for both nights we visited were really friendly and welcoming.

31/03/2026: In my opinion this is by far the best bar in Galway, great drinks and music. It's way bigger from the inside than you would think.
