The best restaurants in Galway

20/02/2024: It’s tasty. They give you a huuuge portion size. But if you plan on eating it on public on a bench like I did well… good luck, it can get very messy. I like the amount of vegan options they have. I recommend the not-chicken roll. They Also have some delicious pastries that change every day which I think are vegan but I could be wrong

28/10/2024: I won't beat around the bush in this review. The burgers are nothing special. I had the cheeseburger - it was well topped, but had no unique selling point. Toppings with ketchup and mustard were okay, the meat was well-done and tasty, the fries were thin and crispy. Overall I give it 4/5 points. For the price I can't complain at all. The service was friendly and accommodating. Flavored water was free and there was also a student discount. The location is great and the atmosphere is cozy. In the end, a clear 5/5 for the service and the overall package. l am extremely satisfied!

25/10/2024: It was grand. But nothing special. Considering the price, I wouldn't recommend over other burger spots near by. >€50 for a meal for 2.

15/10/2024: Lovely Local Pub... everyone very friendly... We had our Dog with us and intended sitting outside... The owner said bring her in as its cold outside. we really appreciated this as it was cold. There was another dog there also... Mostly locals here - good fun. Will definitely return and will definitely recommend

11/11/2024: Truly the best fish and chips. Ordered the cod and a regular chip with tartar sauce. Order at the front counter and they will bring it out to you're table when it's ready. Friendly staff and a laid back atmosphere. Food was extremely fresh and well prepared.

10/11/2024: Wonderful fresh cod, huge fries portion. Couldn’t finish it. The sauces were a bit diluted, but all in all amazing value for the price.

24/09/2024: Best food I have had in years. I cannot praise this place enough, it was simply amazing, everything is so fresh, so tasty & bursting with flavour. We had an array of dishes between us, Tagines, Paella, Kofta etc. and it was all fabulous. Service was also excellent, we did not have to wait too long for the food, staff were very friendly and it has a lovely atmosphere. Portions are good size too, good value I thought for the quality and amount of food served. 10/0 highly recommended

17/11/2024: Had a fantastic time at Buskers the other week. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the drinks were top-notch. A young blond bartender (I think he said he was from Cork) really stood out with his friendly and efficient service. He made the night even more enjoyable with his welcoming demeanor. I’ll definitely be back—highly recommend!

03/11/2024: Food was not good. Seafood platter was a waste of money. Everything tasted like from the supermarket was very disappointed. Chowder however was good. Service was not really friendly and absent, had to chaise them to get the bill... Floor was sticky everywhere, didn't feel comfortable to sit there.

01/11/2024: Very nice and partially informal environment. The restaurant is upstairs of a pub. Menu in line with other typical restaurants but the dishes are made with care. The fried calamari was excellent. Not at all chewy and the panko breading perfectly crunchy and not greasy. The ribeye steak cooked perfectly. The only partial flaw is the sensation that the mashed potatoes are made with an immersion blender because there are no pieces of potato and the consistency suggests excessive starch breakdown. Good wine list and excellent choice of beers and whiskeys.

11/11/2024: Mediocre to say the least. One of our party wanted to add the side of mushrooms and onions, kitchen was out - this is quite literally something I have never heard of. The "amuse bouche" was forgettable, some cold balls of what appeared to be mashed potato, mushrooms also cold, cold mini steak kebabs (enough with the steak) and a rather sad vegetable kebab. My partner said his steak was too well done. My dish of bean cassoulet was acceptable. Our tablemates passed little comment on their own dishes. Restaurant was crowded and very noisy, diners competing with a crooning pianist. The waiters were very pleasant. The dessert of creme brulee did somewhat take away the sour taste. 2 of the desserts (the only two chocolate options) were unavailable. Overall underwhelming, wouldn't recommend. If you're going to offer a very limited menu, you need to have everything available and on point.

10/11/2024: I so wanted to love our night. It was a special occasion and a long time since we had been to Rouge Restaurant. I had made my original booking for 8pm but unfortunately they had no table for this time. So we were given a 9pm option which we accepted. We were not seated till 9.30. Our table was lovely however. The menu was straightforward, amuse bouche followed by either a fish dish, a choice of two steaks or vegetarian option. We had two drinks to start whilst waiting, a kir and G&T. The waiter was pleasant and informed us that the fillet steak was no longer available nor was our choice of wine! I understand that chefs can run out of certain meats as the night goes on, but to be fair the whole point of rouge is to have a simple menu and have plenty of that meat to satisfy your LATER BOOKINGS!! And we expected top quality meat which it wasn't. Tough, chewy and tasteless is best decribed on both our cuts of meat. The side dishes were very poor, garlic potato, veg ratatouille ( which was cold)) and chips. We were so very dissapointed. We love a great restaurant and Rouge had been one of our favourites on the past!! Our bill was €136. And wasn't worth it.

10/11/2024: Now. That was fun and well organised and well staffed and a huge amount of options for the gang celebrating the 8 th birthday of our twins...well done all.

09/11/2024: Our group of 15 teenagers had a gat evenings entertainment at The Planet. We had a great sociable evening Bowling. The staff were brilliant dealing with us adults and the kids. Highly recommend.

02/10/2024: Decided to try the Surprise Bag option via Too Good To Go App. Scran were great value as received 7 baked goods for €3.99 Will be back!

07/08/2024: Kind and nice guys, cappuccino, chocolate and brioche up to Italian tastes. A little small place but in line with the pubs in the area. Highly recommended
