The best restaurants in Galway

10/06/2026: Had a bit of an unnerving experience today in Neachtain’s. My wife may have accidentally eaten a bad oyster. The food was absolutely excellent and the service was brilliant as always however the oyster may or may not have been off. I’m writing this review to thank the staff and particularly Hal the manager who was ultra cool and the credit to the business. Thank you so much! Writing to let you know that there is a good chance that I was wrong about the oyster but no point in taking risks. Will be back as soon as possible! Thank you very much.

30/05/2026: Ordered fries and they were cold and soggy on arrival. Also looked like the exact same ones they defrost at McDonald’s. Chowder was okay though.

21/04/2026: They have a great variety to choose from. Everything on the menu is ALWAYS fresh and so tasty. It's always our go to when we want a fast food takeaway. The difference with Jack Jordans is that it's not fast food. Everything is cooked to order and it's always worth the few minutes wait. Definitely a cut above all the other fast food places. The crew are genuinely friendly, happy to help and have a chat kind of people.

30/03/2026: Nice place with two lovely cabins for 4, with a view to the street. The cod was very juice and fresh. Soup of the day was vegetable with some cream... Caesar salad was great!

29/05/2026: The food was good but not amazing. I loved the quality of the dishes but I will say it took too long to come to our table. We were a party of 5 and it took around 30-35 minutes our food to arrive. The drinks we ordered were okay. I was expecting better for the coconut lemonade. I know it’s a tapas places and the food will be small dishes and the high quality but we were disappointed in how long it took to get to us.

08/06/2026: Absolutely the best pork chop I’ve had in my life. I will never forget it—I closed my eyes for most bites so I could savor it. We asked for a recommendation for dessert and it was ridiculously amazing. The flavors were incredible. The chocolate was so rich it was plenty for four of us to split since we all were full from our incredible meals. Others in our party got a fish entree they loved and the sauce that it came in was so fantastic they used the extra bread to finish it off! 10/10 We will be back next year. 06/06/2026: We had a very odd experience here. We came during our honeymoon after several people recommended we visit while in Galway, but from the moment we arrived, the service felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. We arrived at 6:04 p.m. for our 6:00 p.m. reservation, and from the initial interaction with the host/server, we felt as though we were somehow in trouble. After reading other reviews, it seems that unfriendly service may not be an isolated issue. I’ve have never left a negative restaurant review before, but our experience warranted one. A couple seated next to us, who arrived after we did, received their meals significantly sooner than we did. In fact, they had already finished their mains and were ordering dessert before our entrees even arrived. I ordered the steak, which was served with a single slice of tomato on top. The couple next to us ordered the same dish, and theirs came with multiple slices of tomato as an accompaniment. I understand that presentation can vary, but the difference between one slice and several seemed unusually inconsistent. My wife ordered the scallops and received only three scallops. Photos online clearly show the same dish being served with noticeably more. I understand portion sizes can vary, but the difference was substantial enough to stand out. After our plates were cleared, we sat for approximately 10–15 minutes without anyone checking on us. Apparently, the server asked my wife about dessert while I was in the restroom, but when I returned, we waited another five minutes before I finally had to ask for the bill myself. Throughout the evening, we felt largely ignored. Looking back, I don’t believe anyone ever asked how our meals were. My family owns a restaurant, so I understand that service can suffer when staff are overwhelmed. That wasn’t the case here. The server walked past our table multiple times and never once acknowledged us or checked in. Out of habit from the United States, I still left a generous tip, but in hindsight I wish I hadn’t. We left feeling genuinely disappointed by the cold and dismissive service. It was certainly not the dining experience we had hoped for during our honeymoon in Galway.

14/06/2026: While visiting Galway from the States, we were here to celebrate my in-laws anniversary. Felt higher end than the surrounding pubs for more of a celebratory experience/a step above the other dinners we had during our trip.

14/06/2026: My goodness what a gem we found. I can't recommend this place enough! Our waitress who was possibly Italian herself. She was so lovely and welcoming and gave us some history on some of the dishes. The olive focaccia bread that was brought over at the start was beautifully baked and so well flavoured. I ordered a pork pasta dish and my friend had the carbonara. My dish was well presented and just the right portion size. The sausage meat has a hint of spice and was just so lovely. My friend admitted it was the nicest carbonara dish she has ever had! We decided to try the cocktail menu and went for Italian Lady. What a drink! Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts and can be a real hit or miss in restaurants. A lot of the time they can end up not soaking the sponge fingers in coffee/liquor for long enough and it is quite dry but the sponge was moist and the egg whites were very well beaten into the layers as the creamy texture and flavour was divine. Being a bit of a food snob as I grew up with a pastry chef who studied in France as a Mother, I can tell you the food here was just incredible and if you like to find hidden gems that has great offer great flavours and a nice atmosphere this is it. I would love to come back and visit again and will be recommending it to friends and family. Thank you for having us.

22/10/2025: Location was wonderful. the staff was very kind and tried to be as helpful as possible… Rooms were very outdated, extremely dusty/musty, beds very uncomfortable, Wi-Fi didn’t work half the time & AC was broken with inability to be fixed. The room also smelled terribly of a nursing home which did not dissipate at all with our windows open for two days.

21/10/2025: Such a great spot! I was visiting Galway for a few days with my family, and we could not have picked a better location. All the staff were so kind. Henrique at reception in particular was incredibly helpful and very fun to converse with.

18/04/2026: Come here every few months. Love this place. Janka is the best waitress she serves our table every time and she's excellent.

17/04/2026: Regular customers in Buddha, Janka has served our table with smiles, laughter and professionalism! Always look after us the best. The meal and drinks are always good but it’s raised a level with Janka

08/11/2025: Absolutely outstanding! I can’t recommend Elite Cake Boutique Galway highly enough! I simply told her, “I trust you — do what you can,” and she absolutely delivered beyond all expectations. The cake she created was perfect inside and out — beautifully designed, full of creativity, and so much attention to detail. It was for a special 25th anniversary, and she captured the poker theme flawlessly — from the cards and chips to every little decoration. Everyone was amazed by how stunning it looked, and even more impressed by how delicious it tasted! You can tell she puts her heart into every creation. Thank you so much for making something so special and memorable — you truly went above and beyond. 💖🎂👏 Elite Cake Boutique Galway — pure talent and perfection!

27/10/2025: My first experience with this bakery and I've absolutely zero regrets. They made THE BEST cake! Every guest loved it. A wee bit pricey but at the end of the day it's worth each penny of it! Keep up the good work!
