24/10/2025: TOTALLY UNRELIABLE On August 10th, I booked Vaughans Pub/Accommodation (Clifden) through the Booking platform for €90, and the reservation was confirmed. On August 11th, the property sent me this message: "Hi, Sadly, due to an error, this room is not available on your chosen date. To avoid charges, we suggest you cancel this booking. Apologies for any inconvenience. Regards, Vaughans." Moral of the story: the day before leaving for Ireland, I was forced to cancel my reservation at this B&B on Booking (otherwise, adding insult to injury, I'd have to pay for it) and look for alternative accommodations, so as not to risk having to sleep in my car. I found accommodation (for €160), located in a different location and far from Clifden, which forced me to change my travel itinerary (a lot). When I complained about this inappropriate behavior and asked for a refund of at least the €70 difference, both Vaughans and Booking refused, or even bothered to respond. I contacted my lawyers, who told me that since the property is outside Italy, suing them for damages is a waste of time. Oh, I forgot: during my planned stay, the Connemara Pony Show was taking place in Clifden, so the town was full of tourists... Need I say more? I'm writing for the record.

02/08/2025: I stayed for just one night in the rooms on the floor above the pub. The room was small but fully equipped. The atmosphere was clean. The ensuite bathroom had a hot, well-functioning shower. There was a kettle for heating water and making instant coffee or tea. The only downside: there was no hairdryer provided (but I didn't even ask for one...). The pub is very nice, frequented mostly by locals. It has a good selection of whiskeys.

30/11/2024: We used to enjoy getting kebabs and chips here. They were absolutely phenomenal. After a coeliac diagnosis the chef and staff have gone to great lengths to start including a gluten free menu ! Gluten free kebabs, pizza and wraps. They have been so accommodating. 5 stars and the friendliest service !!

12/11/2024: I would recommend this place to anyone. Lovely freshly prepared food ( no re fried chips), good portion sizes and very clean place. We had pizza, chips and Kebab. The pizza here is delicious with a perfectly crisp crust. Kebab was tops with fresh vegetables and sauce topped off the culinary delight. We would definitely come back again.

26/08/2025: Very nice place to get lunch or eat a takeaway pizza in the evening. The service from staff was great, all of them very kindly. About the food, one day we got fish and chips and honestly was better than expected, not the same with homemade lemonade and ice tea, completely avoid order these. Another day we ordered few takeaway Pizzas around 9pm when every other place around is not serving food so they saved us.

23/08/2025: Ordered a salad and soup. Very little options for drinks, gin and tonic came in wine glass (couldn’t get much tonic in). Wooden cutlery ?! Food was ok. Perfect location on a lovely day. Seats outside and inside.

01/07/2025: Well where do l start first, on a positive note the coffee is amazing. However, the owner was always unfriendly and flippant with me, despite me being very friendly and delighted to see people as l was a nurse busy working in the ICU during Covid time. Trying to get a conversation from him was like pulling teeth. Bare in mind when all the arty fartys would arrive he was all talk. I bought atleast 2-3 coffees per day for over a year and was never told there was a loyalty system in place. So never availed of a free coffee until l seen somebody else using their loyalty card. I was gobsmacked to say the least. Unfortunately that was my experience and also my husband's, who would get on with anybody found him unwelcoming. This is the first review l have ever written in my life and its a shame it has to be a negative review. I hope this resonates with the owner as being kind to your customers goes along way

18/06/2025: A very strange impression. We came here on a positive note. Before that, we visited the Crystal Center. Great. We read positive reviews about this cafe. Indeed, it has two components, two parts. Simple souvenirs that are everywhere and a little bit of exclusivity. For example, loose coffee. A pleasant smell, but not coffee. All this could have been a plus, but then there are big "BUTs". 1. The staff, standing with their backs to the hall, and blocking the sales counter, were disassembling some kind of unit on it. It was difficult to attract their attention. 2. For some reason, they had a hard time accepting the order. To do this, we literally had to poke at the menu. 3. We were very surprised when we asked for coffee not in disposable cups. For us, cardboard and good coffee are incompatible. The drink should be in heated porcelain or, at worst, ceramics. Coffee must be ground before preparation. Brew in a Turk, cezve or ball. This is a ritual. In this case, a cheap eatery that claims five stars. 4. Soon after the order was brought, they started to demonstratively clean up around us (and this was an hour before closing). 5. There is a good pizzeria nearby. At the same time, we ordered pizza from them. But when I entered this establishment with a box, I received a sea of ​​​​reproach and indignation. Where is the warmth and goodwill. The establishment has tables and chairs. Is it a big crime if two elderly people eat their slice of pizza in addition to the cake and drinks ordered in the establishment. The car is parked right next to the establishment, with the windshield at the door. Let's say the staff did not see the blue label on the glass, but our age, our 70 years, is difficult to hide. Showing fundamental ill will towards the sick, elderly people is bad for business. In connection with all of the above, the assessment is generally negative. There are many small villages nearby, but with good, kind people. With excellent restaurants, and we left there in a good mood.
