27/01/2026: The staff here are absolutely brilliant. We met a lovely young man who was on his first day in the job. He was so nice and thank us for our kindness and support to him on his first day. Definitely be returning to see how he got on.

30/11/2025: Today, my daughter and her friend were denied entry to this establishment, and we believe it was solely because they are Spanish. The situation was discriminatory and extremely unpleasant. We want others to be aware of what happened so they can decide whether they wish to support a place where such incidents occur. 23/03/2026: Table for 9 booked for 14 00. Arrived a couple of minutes early to sign my vehicle in and then waited to be seated! Ha ha. I wasn't even acknowledged, no eye contact from any of the staff ( under staffed ) This gave me time to take a close look around.... This "Beefeater" needs to be closed ASAP and be refurbished! While that's being done, retrain the staff to understand customer service and on a Sunday lunchtime, maybe rota a couple of extra employees in to cover the usual "throng" that is the norm during these hours. The couple in front ( pub owners ) and myself ( used to be in the same trade ) left the building. Not good!

21/03/2026: It really is not good value for money. It's the same old thing. Less food on the plate but with inflated prices.

10/11/2025: Love this place , lovely atmosphere, Thomas the Barman is a real gem he will always greet the customers with a big smile or his cheeky wink if his hands are full , he alone makes the place welcoming and Ann a bar lady here also you couldn’t hope for a nicer greeting from either one , NO COMPLAINTS , and the people of Cong and Mayo in general are DECENT welcoming people , so definitely give Danaghers a visit , my feeling is you shouldn’t regret it Clint and Anna

29/08/2025: Came from Belfast looking forward to the quiet Man village got told about the food was really looking forward to have are dinner and was waiting in the bar area with all our kids for over two hours which we came with free families in total. There was kids everybody was hungry and looking forward to their meals. There was a foreign man behind the bar which told us food will be served at 5 o’clock which it was 3 o’clock then when 5 o’clock came, they would not serve us other people in which we seen when we was in the bar across the way getting food devastated and that happened? Do not recommend at all due to foreigners working in the bar given false information and was very rude!!!

09/08/2025: Just Stopped Here For The Toilet Break Staff Was So Friendly In The Shop It Has Supermac's Restaurant Onsite. I Would Visit Here Again.

14/12/2025: We had to wait for ages for someone to take our oder. The soup was lovely, but we got our dinner the same time as our soup, so they had to take that back to keep it warm. This is the Roots in Oranmore. The Roots in Loughrea is lovely

27/09/2025: We had a lovely goat cheese salad, two big pieces of goat cheese, chicken and bacon sandwich and vegetable soup. All delicious 😋 cappuccino and cola for drink.

06/02/2026: Pizza barely had a sauce was over cooked and the dough was chewy! I’m so disappointed. The jalapeno poppers weren’t fully cooked either, tired to put them in air fryer to make them more crispy didn’t work, no golden colour. And the wedges were inedible. I will never again order from here!!

30/12/2025: Horrible, disgusting, bad!!! Ordered takeaway for the whole fanily to save time and get a chillout evening free of cooking. the delivery took forever!! had to ring to see what was happening. got a dry "your food is on the way"... anothe 40 minuts later it arrived... ah well, we are busy... BUSY??? how's that my problem?? hire more staff, give a warning that you gonna be over an hour (!!!) food arrived only to go into the bin!!! after paying nearly 50 euro, binned the whole lot!!! the food was disgusting!! cold, greasy, tasted unfresh, awful looking and and even worse tasting. chips soggy, greasy, half of them burnt. kebabs soggy, veg looked unfresh, frozen in parts, bread soggy. looked like leftovers were thrown back together. garlic bread (how can you mess up garlic bread?? apparently, you can if you are Apache Pizza Gort!) wasn't soft, greasy and cold. after leaving a review, got a general copy-paste response from main branch asking to contact actual local branch (Gort) to see what was the problem and why food was so bad and delivery was so long... so like, after, i wasted time, money, had bad experience they want me to go back and see what is their problem that they cant provide a decent service?? seriously?.. never again!! horrible experience!

09/02/2026: On my first ever visit to Clifden which took place last week, we found ourselves popping into Griffin's bar for some lunch. I had the best fish pie I've had since I don't know when. Marion enjoyed a nice steak sandwich. Both David & John made us feel very welcome. Then a local 82year old mad entertained us with a quick dancing demo. Apparently he also recites poetry and you might even get a song out of him! It was a memorable experience and made all the better when David ran us up to see the Sky Road (if you get the chance to see it you'll understand why it's called the sky road.) I can't wait to visit Clifden and Griffin's bar again. Couldn't recommend it enough, thanks David & John.

03/11/2025: An incredible experience! We're from Spain and have been to many Michelin-starred restaurants and other high-quality establishments, and this chef has truly surprised us. Our sincerest congratulations. Spectacular flavors, an amazing setting, and we had to have seconds of the dessert. Keep it up, and you'll achieve everything you set your mind to.

01/11/2025: From the start to the end it was an experience. A safari of dishes mafe with a chef with a salient eye for detail. The orient express carriage takes you away, enabling a step out of reality and providing the escapism we often all so crave. Led by Ian, the restaurant manager, he is endowed with his exceptional front of house team. Sophie was excellent also. She could really put a spin on the explanations and the staff seemed so engaged. The team are so well drilled and they know their product inside out. As regards the food offering, we thought this was exceptional. Service was razor sharp. From the quality of the food down to the chefs magic with herbs, the provenance of the dishes, the cooking styles and just the crockery, cutlery and general magic that prevaded throughout the experience. If you like a treat or like fine dining. This is a must do. We opted for the wine pairing. It was sublime. Take a bow.
