05/10/2025: The waitress was quite rude, the scone and the sandwich were dry and the soup was like spicy baby food. Disappointing.

01/10/2025: 6 out of 5 stars! Wow, you won't want to leave. If you love sweets 😀 The display alone is a dream and absolutely delicious.

18/01/2026: One of the best places in Ireland! The staff made sure they were offering the best experience ever. The food from the restaurant was outstanding, the pasta was super Italian! The view was divine. The spa was everything I was looking for to recharge, the massage was just on point. The whole weekend was brilliant!

16/12/2025: Beautiful hotel. Room was good. We got one that was away from the main corridor. Bath had seen better days. And no big mirror at side board in room, which was a little inconvenient for makeup and hair. Staff are great. The breakfast was unreal. Been a long time since I was in a hotel that cooked breakfast fresh. Much better than the typical smelly buffet where people put spoons in back in the wrong containers! Would recommend a visit to the terminal suit, if you like jacuzzis that are actually hot. Overall great stay. Would definitely visit again.

05/01/2026: Update to my review below. Visited again and everything went well. I loved the lamb special. I have added a few stars here now. It's nice to see that the owners are caring. I previously left a 5 star review, but after the change of ownership last year, the food quality unfortunately declined. On my first few visits after the change, all dishes (even salads) had an unpleasant smell, which I assumed may have been to old oil. I gave it a few more chances, as it's the only restaurant in the area, but eventually stopped going after a very disappointing experience with gone off salmon. After a long break, I visited again recently, and was glad to notice that the issue with the oil smell seems to have been resolved. However, there were still some inconsistencies. We were asked how we'd like our steaks cooked - my partner ordered well done, and I ordered medium - but both steaks arrived very well done. The black mushrooms did not look appetizing at all, which was disappointing, as I am a mushroom lover. The chips were quite bland, and the salad did not really appeal eather. I did not raise a complaint at the time as the meal was edible, but I am sharing this feedback in the hope that the new owner might see it, along with other similar comments, and take it on board. The place has real potential, all staff are absolutely amazing! I would love to see its food to return to the standards it once had. I promise, I will be a regular customer then!

26/02/2026: Ordered sweet and sour and chips! Barely any chicken and lots of chips. Disappointing to say the least.

22/02/2026: Service and surroundings were perfect, ordered a beef dish and found it a little tough compared to other restaurants I visit. Other than that it's a great place to visit.

13/09/2025: Unfortunately, it's closed, although Google shows it as open. Apparently, it's completely closed, not just closed for the winter (according to the landlady of PDans Pub).

25/11/2025: Ill start with the positives, the food was amazing. I must say props to the chef. I had a fabulous and generously portioned meal for 9 the star is for the food as everything else went terribly. Following my graduation my family of 9 persons went to this hotel to enjoy a family meal. The first issue is in regards to building maintence. The dad cut through his trousers and his leg on a sharp protruding piece of metal acting as a box cover. You can see from the images attached that the cover is missing 2 rivents and is only secured in the middle. My dad brought this to the managers attention who came over to our table halfway through our meal dispiting it with him. He did offer to reduce the price of the meal by 15% however the suit was bought only that morning and that wouldnt cover the cost of a replacement pair of trousers. My dad explained that he didnt want ot have the argiment at the table while trying to enjoy the meal but the manager continued then offering 50€ off (which was less then 15% of our bill...) He said the general manager will be in touch and took our details so we are awaiting a call. We were initally sat at a high stoll table, we asked to swap to a lower table which was done for us no problem as my grandmother was unable to sit at the higher stool due to them not having back rests. We asked a girl who explained it was her fist day if we could mood and she went to ask another person. After about 5 minutes of talking and looking at us another memeber of the wait staff came over and said we could move. There was a bit of a wait for the starters and mains but nothing too extreme we were happy enough to wait. The same lady who moved us was quite rude when we were enquiring about the startes. The menu here has a "Lighter Dishes" section, we asked if that was there starter section and she clarified this to us in a way as if to say we were stupid. "Yeah... thats the starters, is there another quesiotn?". Desserts took quite some time to be brought our. We ordered 3 desserts as the generous portion sizes had us full up. They took 35 minutes to be brought out. I wonder if they were milking the cows in the back to make the cream. At the end of the meal the bill came out and didnt match the prices on the menu at all. Ive attached images of both their menu and the prices on our bill. We were too tired and warm at this point to bother arguing as the lady taking our bill was the same lady who had been rude earlier. The final kick in the teath was the phrasing of their tips. Menu states groups over 8 have gratuity of 10% included however on the bill it is down as suggested even though it is mandatory. Its only a small thing but it added insult to ingury. Previous vists to this place have been nice. Once i was sushed while entering their upstiars returaunt however I was apologised too after bringing it the the managers attention. I love the locaiton and food here but it has really given me a bad tatse now. I dont think me or my family will return which is a shame because we love their pizzas and come rather often. UPDATE No contact from a manager as promised. Cowboy Buisness people operating in Barna. Anyone looking for a place to stay or eat - do not. Plenty of better options in Galway. Avoid this dump like the plague Update again No hope in getting any help. Management have not contacted and when calling say they have no idea what I’m on about. Avoid at all costs. Update again, years later: I still email from time to time and yet no one there cares. I have not been back since (despite being a regular before) and always suggest for people to avoid it like the plague.

20/01/2026: I have been in alot of supermacs around the country but, I have to say, I have never been in one that was so clean, professional ,friendly staff, and although it was quite they were cleaning not standing around and were exceptionally friendly. I do believe supermacs, country wide, should use this shop and staff as an example of how all your shops should be run countrywide

01/02/2026: so I ordered here 3 times. first time they forgot my curry sauce and the fish was mushy, second time they forgot my nuggets. last time I went in and asked are they sure the curry is inside. the answer was yes, it's in the bag. there was no curry. again 😑

24/10/2025: TOTALLY UNRELIABLE On August 10th, I booked Vaughans Pub/Accommodation (Clifden) through the Booking platform for €90, and the reservation was confirmed. On August 11th, the property sent me this message: "Hi, Sadly, due to an error, this room is not available on your chosen date. To avoid charges, we suggest you cancel this booking. Apologies for any inconvenience. Regards, Vaughans." Moral of the story: the day before leaving for Ireland, I was forced to cancel my reservation at this B&B on Booking (otherwise, adding insult to injury, I'd have to pay for it) and look for alternative accommodations, so as not to risk having to sleep in my car. I found accommodation (for €160), located in a different location and far from Clifden, which forced me to change my travel itinerary (a lot). When I complained about this inappropriate behavior and asked for a refund of at least the €70 difference, both Vaughans and Booking refused, or even bothered to respond. I contacted my lawyers, who told me that since the property is outside Italy, suing them for damages is a waste of time. Oh, I forgot: during my planned stay, the Connemara Pony Show was taking place in Clifden, so the town was full of tourists... Need I say more? I'm writing for the record.

02/11/2025: Unfortunately, the roast duck was quite chewy and the spice bag very dry, making it hard to enjoy. Sorry, but I wouldn’t return.

26/02/2026: Old woman staff member with grey hair working on the 26/02/2026 was extremely rude. Stared at me the entire time I was eating and hovered over me with her cleaning rag as if to say “leave so I can clean” I didn’t feel welcome and she needs to be re trained.
