12/11/2025: Amazing: The same name as another takeaway, equally excellent food quality and friendly staff, but a completely different location and different operators and employees than at "ROMA" in Monksland, Athlone. Over time, I have tried the cod fillets, onion rings (both in batter), chips and various pizzas here in Mountbellew. Everything was freshly prepared to order. I can highly recommend all of these dishes. I spoke to some of the locals. They all agreed that this is an exceptionally good takeaway. A small side note: I am not Irish. One of the staff had lived in my home country for years, so I was unexpectedly able to speak my native language – somehow heart-warming.

12/04/2026: I used this hotel as a stop, to reach other locations. I was pleasantly surprised about the warmth character of the hotel, and even more the sports centre, swimmimg pool, sauna, and beauty room. The receptionists were extremely helpful and friendly, exhibiting professionalism, so were the bar staff, especially the breakfast organiser making my stay one of the best stays I ever had in a hotel.. I would very happily stay there again.

08/04/2026: I was really excited to stay in this hotel - it's been on my list of hotels I have wanted to go to for a while. Overall I wouldn't be coming back which is real shame as I was looking for a nice place to take my family every Christmas. 1. Stains on my pillows in bedroom - the two stained pillows should have been put in bin I have no idea why the housekeeper put them on bed. 2. The hotel says it's an ''estate'' with over 138 acres - the reality is there is a 9 hole golf course - with a short 20min walk to the side of it as the only real ''walk''. On the website it is rather deceiving making it seem it is a large estate with many walks. There is small walled garden and just the 20min walk - which is really just on golf course. I was expecting trials and various walks around for 1hour. 3. I really like listening to piano player in bar - but two days in a row he plays the same songs.. 4. If you want any service in the cocktail bar you have to go to the bar yourself which for a 5 star hotel isn't acceptable. There was only one bar man - who has to cover 3 different rooms himself as well as make cocktails and also do whiskey tastings. He needs atleast one other member of staff there. 5. The cocktail bar during day has music so low if it's just you and another table you hear their whole conversation which I don't want to. Same as having lunch in the abbey with my partner another couple same in - with no real music and small space you feel pretty awkward even talking. 6. The Pullman restaurant is an unusual experience however the food isn't to standard for 1 star Michelin and staff. I could go into another 8 points here as to why but I won't. 7. No gym - how can a hotel be 5 star with no gym? 8. Spa treatments are nice however relax area looks on to golf car park? First time for everything - a simple curtain to block this out would be better.

24/04/2026: The starter was good. The curry I had for the main was very dark and spicy although it was advertised as mild. I can't handle spicy. A piece of nan bread and maybe a small onion bahji would have greatly improved the presentation as would a pot of mango chutney. I did get some but had to ask. They should check out coynes down the road. I wish them success as there are not many places to eat out in Connemara but a few touches here and there would improve things.

02/04/2026: Wishing the best to the new owners. It's great to see a local business keep the doors open. I had a fantastic steak here tonight, the black sole last week was fantastic too. Looking forward to seeing what other specials the guys in the kitchen can come up with over the summer.

27/07/2025: Found this bar on a trip up the River Shannon. We decided to go up the River Suck randomly and check out the town for the night. John was an amazing host, great bar and a beautiful town. Highly recommend a visit!
