The best restaurants in Galway

31/03/2025: I heard there was an Italian restaurant in Ballinasloe a while back, and hoped it would still be there for my flying visit in March - and it was. My partner and I went for early dinner and we were seated immediately. There were a couple of others in and while we were there, the place began to fill up. Both my partner and I shared a garlic pizza bread to start and I had the Diavolo Linguine pasta as a main. WOW….what dish, so, so tasty, proper chunks of chicken and very filling. There was a good choice of wines and desserts and the bill was fairly reasonable for what had.. We found the staff friendly and tentative without overpowering. I can see this place being really busy and more so on the weekends and I hope the restaurant is still there when I visit again in a few months time. I would certainly recommend Venezia Restaurant to anyone who loves Italian food. Don’t be put off by the negative comments about being too busy for a pickup / takeaway - says a lot about a restaurant and I would rather eat from a busy spot than one that wasn’t.

11/01/2025: A cozy Irish pub with an amazing atmosphere and a great selection of drinks! Authentic interior, delicious food, and a wide variety of beers and whiskeys. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick. A perfect spot for an evening with friends or a relaxed night out. Definitely coming back—one of the best places in town!

25/01/2025: I had the opportunity to taste a real Irish stew in this pub. For this alone I recommend if you visit Connemara. However, I cannot give a rating on the atmosphere. We had lunch one afternoon and were the only people in the pub. (Visit in May 2012)

27/04/2025: We had the pleasure of using a gift voucher, which gave us the opportunity to try a new restaurant. Conveniently, there is a dedicated parking area, making our arrival seamless. Upon entering, we were welcomed by a very pleasant atmosphere with subtle, soothing background music. The restaurant impressed us with its spaciousness—standing out among others in Galway. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. They dimmed the lights to just the right level, paired with calming, non-intrusive music. As we sipped on our drinks 🍷, the ambiance set the tone for delightful conversation while awaiting our food. Our dining experience began with oysters, which were exquisitely fresh. Following that, the starters truly shone, delivering flavors that were nothing short of outstanding. For the mains, the meat dishes took center stage, surpassing the seafood dishes in quality and taste.

13/05/2025: We stopped here to eat on our way to Donegal. The staff were great. They were attentive and quick. We ordered the all day breakfast which was fine but dry. I assume from being under heat lamps to keep the food hot. Everything else was great.

14/11/2024: Beautiful shop and selection of local and imported goods. Fresh and made to order lunch menu, and great coffee. Very friendly owners. Happy to have stumbled into this shop on our trip around Connemara.

09/09/2024: Great place where to find very tasty launchboxes, with lot of different ingredients available. The bread is fantastic as well.

18/08/2024: Lots of Cappuccino for the price, AS a tired Hungry vegan this was awesome to stumble upon. There is ist Milk, vegan Muffins, vegan sausage roll and vegan cake! Wonderful service very cute View and Overall delightful. I would visit again! And recommend to other vegans :) and non vegans! Sláinte

25/07/2024: The best lunch I had on the island - nutritious, beautiful and delicious! So nice to have fresh tasty salads. My only criticism is that hot drinks are served in disposable cups, even if you're not taking away. I personally find this unacceptable from a sustainability point of view and for me it also ruins the quality of the drink.

10/05/2025: The fish cakes had lots of bones or shells. The hamburger had zero flavor to the meat. But oh man wa a the dessert great! Great friendly service and nice atmosphere.

25/04/2025: I popped into this bar late last Thursday night. Great atmosphere and design of the place. I would also like to mention the service, the girl behind the bar was friendly and very welcoming. She told me that this bar often hosts performances and live music! Great place, will definitely come back again. Interesting facts: Tully's Bar is not just a pub, but part of the cultural and historical heritage of the village. Situated on the main street, it is a traditional Irish pub that retains the atmosphere and architecture of the past. Previously, it was both a shop and a bar, as was typical of Irish villages in the past. Such establishments were centers of social life, where local residents could not only purchase necessary goods, but also exchange news over a glass of beer. At the entrance to the bar, there is still a counter with a showcase on which there is an excellent collection of fairly old packaging from famous brands. And even an old cash register.

17/03/2025: Tully’s in Kinvara is an absolute gem! Hands down, the best Guinness in town—poured to perfection every time. The pub has a fantastic atmosphere, and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, making everyone feel right at home. A huge credit to Paul, the owner, and his wonderful team for running such a top-class establishment. The pub has a real old-school Irish charm, with shelves lined with vintage memorabilia that transport you back in time. It truly feels like a traditional Irish pub, full of character and warmth. The addition of the pizza place and the spacious beer garden out back only adds to the experience. Whether you're looking for a great pint, a bite to eat, or just a welcoming place to soak in the local atmosphere, Tully’s has it all. Five stars all around—highly recommend!
