14/08/2025: Fish & chips .. lite and not greasy .. tasty Sea food chowder .. chunks! And creamy , most wonderful

24/08/2025: Really nice coffee. The coffees and the pastry are homemade and very good. The club sandwichs we took were delicious.

18/08/2025: Very nice coffee and the best bit is when you order a coffee they ask if you want 1 or 2 shots! Also we heard the staff chatting with customers in at least 3 european languages.

22/08/2025: We had the best time at this castle. We only stayed a night as we were just passing through and it was a true highlight of the trip. The service was incredible, especially the lovely bartenders. Food was very good, room was comfortable and welcome night was so fun!

06/09/2025: Very busy on a Friday evening. Reservations recommended. Lots of staff scurrying around but not thst great of service. Meals were OK but the "mild" curry had virtually no flavor.

06/07/2025: Not sure why this place has such high reviews. Server was friendly but after selling me on the lamb burger informed me they were sold out. 2 errors on my wife's order. Burger and wings were mediocre, fries poor. 'Traditional' music had as many American country songs as Irish. Overall disappointing first stop in Clifden.

29/06/2025: Excellent pub. The food was very good, and the welcome was very friendly. Great musical atmosphere. We had a wonderful evening.

20/08/2025: Very pleasant setting. The service is attentive and very friendly. I recommend the lamb, which is very good, with all the accompanying dishes at no extra charge. In short, very good.

14/08/2025: The Marconi feels like stepping back to a time when Irish hotels exuded hospitality and generosity. The food was simple and well executed, with enormous dinner portions. Bread basket was a lovely selection of spiced, tomato and brown breads. I asked for more. My main was the largest duck serving ever created. Certainly more than one breast and possibly more than one duck! The sides were potato dauphinoise, potato fries and steamed veg. The starters were a mixed bag - duck spring roll was dry but nice enough. The mussels had a wonderful coconut broth and the cheese options were generous and tasty. The main gripe was the under-saucing of every dish - large portions need appropriate sauces. We ate in the garden room, at a table tucked away around the corner, next to the windows and was great spot.

21/08/2025: Our 3rd time staying in this hotel, and we had another lovely stay.the refurbished outside ,lobby bar and restaurant was done to a very high standard. Really added to our stay having somewhere to relax in the evening. The live music that was on both nights if our stay was really enjoyable. It was very chilled and relaxing not at all overpowering for the room and I think the choice of music was perfect to add to the hotel vibe. We really enjoyed breakfast with the mix of buffet and made to order. Staff were all very friendly.The rooms are very comfortable,classic and clean. The hotel is a stones throw from the town and then short drives from amazing beaches. A really great hotel all round.

15/07/2025: Overall my stay was nice! When I arrived there was a computer issue that was causing issues for the staff, but they were still prompt, kind and helpful. Because the system was down, I was personally shown to my room (I appreciated the team’s ability to stay calm and organized during the system outage). The room was nice. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size! The breakfast served was great. There was a variety of options and the servers were kind and attentive. I would stay here again!

28/07/2025: We called in for breakfast and the food was lovely. I tried the homemade Bircher which was delicious followed by their breakfast brioche bap which was also lovely. Great service for all the staff.

24/06/2025: Popped into a couple of places in clifden and staff were all rude , couldn’t believe it … then I came across this gem …. Staff were gorgeous cakes all homemade real nostalgic and the coffee is excellent ❤️❤️ avoid the other places and go to steam

12/08/2025: Really lovely restaurant that I've visited twice in my short time in clifden. Had mussels and fries first night which were so tasty and fresh. Second time my husband and I had 2 starters with Guinness which he gave a top score for too. Lovely, friendly staff too.

06/09/2025: Stopped in for fish and chips. We ordered the bear battered fish and chips that cost a whopping 21€ each. When the fish arrived to the table a very short time after ordering we were a bit shocked to see a wafer thin piece of cod that had been overcooked beyond belief. The cod itself was dry and FULL of bones whist also being slightly cold even though it looked it was cooked on the sun. The chips were also cold so I guess it’s not cooked when ordered? The service was ok in the bar, good location but would expect a hell of a lot better considering the prices. We both left unsatisfied with the meal and ended up in supermacs that had actual eatable food!

25/08/2025: Amazing! I can absolutely confirm all the positive reviews. The food was great - the stew I had was just wonderful. The staff were SO lovely too, I recommend this place 100%!! Easily 5 stars. All the bars in Clifden are very nice and worth a visit though! With the only exception of Griffins bar in which I was deeply dissappointed and traumatised by. Just see their google reviews for yourself.
