The best restaurants in Clifden

28/10/2025: Terrible experience. We went to this pub just after church time on a Sunday. The lady at the bar was really unfriendly. We order two Irish coffee… well the were really bad. It seems like juste burnt coffee without any whisky inside, I have to admit she puts coca powder on top. I will definitely never go back to this pub again.

13/11/2025: Unbelievable experience! Management & staff are so good! November 14th, 2025: I need to say more as I didn't do it justice with the brief comment above. We simply loved this place. If we were ever to visit Ireland again, Abbeyglen Castle Hotel would be on the TOP of our list of places to stay!

13/11/2025: Our stay at Abbeyglen Castle Hotel was wonderful. The castle has so much character, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff were warm and attentive throughout our visit. One of the absolute highlights was the evening talk. Hearing the history of the castle and the surrounding area brought the whole experience to life and made the stay feel even more meaningful. It was engaging, fun, and something that set Abbeyglen apart from any other stay we have had. We would love to return on our next trip to the area.

19/11/2025: Delicious Connemara lamb served by two very pleasant young women. Great background music playlist.

12/11/2025: Mannions had the best seafood chowder I have had in ireland hands down. Our fish and chips were as you would expect of a fine establishment near the sea. The servers were very personable. I would recommend to anyone the family owned restaurant Mannions of Clifden. Our server Caroline gave us some tips on making brown bread we will try at home!

23/11/2025: We loved the dinner at Guy's while visiting Clifden. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and we got some excellent recommendations. There are local beers and cocktails to try. Tried the ribeye burger and it was so good. Great selection of deserts as well.

22/11/2025: We received a very warm welcome and highly recommend it. The atmosphere is super cozy and we ate very well.

31/10/2025: Had dinner here recently, I would be a semi regular at this spot. Not sure if it’s been leased out since the last time I was there, as I didn’t see any of the old familiar faces working on the night I was there. What has changed is the introduction of a 10% service charge, which is extremely disappointing to see, none of my other usual spots in Clifden or its surrounding areas have this, so not sure why it’s been introduced here. I wasn’t aware of this until I was paying the bill, it might be on the menu, I’m not sure, but it definitely didn’t apply last time I visited. Probably going to give it a miss for a while, might pop back when the VAT rate gets reduced, see if the service charge still applies. If it does, I’ll be trying somewhere else up the street!

10/10/2025: Lovely calamari, fish and chips. Friendly service. A bit pricey but it was good.

26/09/2025: After one too many toasties I treated myself to a proper dinner and had the chicken dish. It was so delicious. I couldn’t get enough of the sauce that was with it. Amazing.

26/09/2025: Really really fab restaurant. Staff, food and ambience were all ten out of ten. Came here with a group and Sandra and all her staff looked after us to no end. The food was just perfect. Very much hope to be back. Thank you so much :) <3

19/10/2025: If you like spicy food, it's fine there. There was supposed to be live music, but unfortunately, it was scorching hot. A one-time deal for us.

16/09/2025: Located in the middle of Clifden, this is a pleasant and cozy restaurant with very friendly, polite, and professional staff. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We were very well taken care of. After dinner, you can go to the hotel pub without going outside, which has a great atmosphere.

20/08/2025: The setting is very pleasant. The service is attentive and very friendly. I recommend the lamb, which is excellent, along with all the accompanying side dishes at no extra charge. In short, very good.

29/11/2025: Execellent service, We’ve been here twice now and will return in the future. The staff are extremely down to earth, friendly and accommodating. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere with live music being a regular.

18/10/2025: Simply fantastic. Amazing atmosphere. The live music alone makes this wonderful bar a must.

28/10/2025: This restaurant was recommended to us by someone we met in the streets of Clifden. The daily lunch specials are homemade. We had a very good meal, for example, sea bass, squid, and even a steak for around €17. The chef is clearly skilled, and everything is homemade. The service was pleasant and professional. It just lacked a smile.

23/10/2025: We had the duck, the carbonara, and the roast beef. The duck was good, the carbonara better, and the roast beef bland and uninspired. The vegetables with the roast beef were a disappointment, and some of the potatoes were still raw. The service didn't seem to have much enthusiasm for their work; in my opinion, criticism of the food was merely tolerated rather than understood constructively. I wouldn't really recommend returning.

06/11/2025: Scampi and chips with side salad it was good. Wine delicious atmosphere was a little dull

14/10/2025: The rudest wait staff top to bottom I have ever encountered and I do not say this lightly. You try to ask for anything and they confront you as if want to start a fight. I asked what one ingridient was in a dish and they go “you have to know what that is” I said I do not can you please describe it to me amd the response is where the heck are you from. For someone that has alergies to food that is not ok. They refuse to tell you about the menu and say its all good just order anything. I asked for pepper and waiter brings me one that is broken then agrees its broken and puts it on another table for someone else to deal with. I could go on and on but they are not worth my time. You can see for yourself the similar. It says the restaurant has been owned by same family since 1991..but its clear as day its not the same people that started it.

22/11/2025: Kids fit rules not working the same for all the children.Everyone is not equal.Someone gets expelled because defending him self doing the same that other child did to him. For each problem takes two or more. Why is only one expelled? Obviously Irish children like to push, show L (loser), complain for everything and not get punished for that. Way would be punished when someone else can. Great rules
