29/05/2025: Really good food and menu choice. Staff were really attentive. Even though we turned up on a Friday with no reservation we were given a table very quickly. Would definitely go back. (Very loud comment was purely down to a large, noisy table.)

13/06/2025: Great food and service Very busy place you may have to wait 20 mins to get a table but worth the wait the food served is fabulous From the seafood chowder. Beaf stew, fish, chilli, shepherd pie every dish tasted lovely and was served to you piping hot average. priced not over the top. Without a doubt it has the best pub food iv tasted in a long time 💯

24/06/2025: After a long day of walking, I was excited for nothing more than a nice cooked meal. I ordered the seafood chowder with soda bread when the seafood chowder arrived. I was horrified to discover gherkins floating at the top accompanied with stomach turning Green Brian. I decided to give it a chance and thought that mixing everything together would surely make it better It didn’t in fact it curdled whoever decided to put gherkins and a seafood chowder should be fired. I don’t know if this is some kind of stunt or tactic to bring in an American audience. I don’t think it will work please reconsider. I’ve written this review later this has stayed with me and I fear it will stay with me forever.

24/06/2025: Hands down, the best fish and chips in Ireland! Tried Galway and all around Dublin. Had so much fish and chip I think I grew gills! Nothing…NOTHING compared to the fish and chips at the Ivy Cottage. Looking forward to our next trip to Ireland.

06/06/2025: We ate in a cute downstairs booth. We choose the restaurant for the menu. We got lamb shank and sea bass with sticky toffee and ice cream. All excellent and generous servings. I tried the red ale on tap and very good. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The place has plaid upholstery and the feel of a comfortable locals restaurant. If we lived here we would be coming back regularly. We recommend you try.

29/05/2025: Lovely food, waiters, ambience and view! Couldn't complain except, perhaps the price of deserts, but then again, hardly ever eat out, and wouldn't know if €8 is now normal. The main courses were authentic, hearty, and well priced. Good 00 cider too! They were extremely busy when we called in, but still very calm, and jolly. I would make a small detour to come back again!

23/06/2025: Thoughtful vegetarian options seem rare in this part of town, but Riverside Bistro Doolin delivered. The Vegetarian Val Au Vent—a flaky, buttery pastry with a creamy mushroom filling—was thoughtfully made for those who aren’t after a plant-based meat imitation. The staff were kind and offered spot-on recommendations.

22/06/2025: Riverside Bistro Doolin – Good Food, Minor Flaws in the Details ⭐ Overall Impression: Overall, I was satisfied – the food tasted good, the ambiance pleasant. A few minor details in the service and execution could be improved. Hence, 4 out of 5 stars. ⸻ 🍽 Food • The starter tasted good and was a decent size. • My main course, a burger with fries, was also good, but it lacked some seasoning (e.g., pepper), and the sauce was very sparing, which made the burger seem a bit dry. • The fries were served without ketchup or mayo, which was a shame – especially since no one asked if everything was okay after serving. • After the starter, no new fork was offered, so I was initially without cutlery for the main course. ⸻ 🧑‍🍳 Service & Atmosphere • The service was friendly, but very reserved – no one actively asked how we were, either during the main course or during clearing. • The ambience is quiet and well-maintained, albeit rather simple. The background music was pleasant and at a good volume – it fit the atmosphere well without being intrusive. After the main course was finished, the waiter didn't come back and asked if we wanted anything else, which was really very weak since we had ordered something else. Unfortunately, the candles at our table weren't lit, but those at empty tables were, which is a clear lack of attention. ⸻ 💰 Value for Money • The price is a bit high for a bistro, which would be acceptable with more attentive service. • The taste was convincing overall, but there's still room for improvement in the details. ⸻ 💬 Conclusion A solid bistro with good food. The food is good, the ambiance is perfect – but a little more attentive service would round out the experience. 4 stars – recommended, although there is room for improvement.

07/06/2025: I liked the place’s vibe and the waitresses were nice but unfortunately I didn’t really like their fish and chips 🥲 It was bland and the chips were mushy and the tartar sauce had too much vinegar. At least that’s what I think.

03/06/2025: We visited this pub in evening time. We managed to find a table without reservation but after some time pub looked quite full. So reservation is recommended. Live music made my day. Food was also tasty.

09/06/2025: Went here as had heard a lot about it and I was not disappointed. Food was excellent, lovely traditional bar at the front but the staff were exceptional, they just interacted with every one and every age group, excellent and highly recommend

08/06/2025: A very nice and authentic restaurant. We were passing through, coming from the Cliffs of Moher and heading to Limerick. We immediately liked the town of Lahinch. There were a few surfers in the sea. The Corner has a very good menu and a wide selection. The service was also very good.

10/06/2025: Nine of us arrived on 10/06 after the kitchen closed and they kindly fed us anyway. Courteous service, generous portions, very good and tasty food. Convenient price... I would go back tomorrow. Thanks

02/06/2025: We arrived after traveling for several hours hoping to grab a late lunch before checking into our accommodation. When we walked in, we were told to grab a table. After 10 minutes and other people being sat and having their orders taken, we stopped a server to ask her for a menu. After another 15 or so minutes without acknowledgment from staff, we left without any interaction from staff other than the initial bartender telling us to sit, and the server bringing us a menu because we asked.

04/05/2025: Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The room was rather old-fashioned but it fit well with the charm of the hotel. The bathroom was very large and everything was clean. The staff was super friendly. From reception to breakfast, everything was very accommodating. The place was also very idyllic, it was a 5 minute walk to Bunratty Castle.

21/04/2025: We arrived late in the evening, well past dinner, and were warmly welcomed by the man at the front desk—who I believe is the owner. Despite the hour, he kindly offered us some brown bread and salmon, which was such a thoughtful gesture and very appreciated after a long journey. The whole place was absolutely lovely. Every single person we interacted with made our stay even better—from the friendly man originally from Ohio, to the cheerful waitress who recommended Coco Puffs to our kids (not a cereal we usually have in the US) It’s the little things like that that make a stay memorable. The Irish breakfast was delicious, the room was comfortable and spotless, and the bathroom was simply gorgeous. But more than anything, the hospitality we received—especially from the owner—really stood out. It made us feel genuinely welcome and taken care of. A truly lovely stay from start to finish. Highly recommend.

27/05/2025: I had eaten there previously on a golf trip, which was excellent. We were on vacation when we visited. We did make a reservation. The restaurant was not crowded but we were given a table next to the kitchen door. We weren’t told specials as we other tables were. Food was OK as was service. I sensed it was because we were from the US.

20/05/2025: We ate at Oar on our recent trip to Doolin and it was fantastic. Kieran and his team were very both professional and enthusiastic about their food and their work. All of the food (as well as the wine we had) was presented beautifully and was delicious. Definitely 5 Stars and recommend.

17/05/2025: We celebrated a family members milestone birthday at Oar last night and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Kieran and his team run an exceptional restaurant where every detail is clearly driven by passion and care. The food was fresh and outstanding (the salad starter is a must!), the service warm and attentive, and the atmosphere perfectly relaxed. It’s a place that values quality and genuinely cares about each guest’s experience. Oar fully deserves every award it’s received – and then some. Highly recommended!
