02/04/2024: Beautiful meal today in The Half Barrel. A party of three, we had roast beef on a bed of creamy mash, broccoli spears and root veg with a rich gravy. Bacon and cabbage with spuds. And parsley sauce, done beautifully. A farmhouse burger and chips that was massive . Desserts were A bailey's cheesecake with ice cream and cream, a rubarb crumble and custard, and a creme brule. From the location, to the staff, to the food and atmosphere it was an easy 5 stars. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was top notch compliments to the chef. Served tinley and presented wonderfully. Big portions. I could not fault the lovely experience. Three main courses, three desserts, three cokes and two vodkas for €95 euro. Excellent value. We will definitely be back.

04/04/2024: Dropped in for a wee bite enroute back to Dublin, good food, excellent service and a great atmosphere....sadly no pints this time...was driving! We'll be back!

31/03/2024: The place was fine, but only 1 star for those coctails. We ordered 2 coctails for 28€ and both of them were without alcohol even though it was indicated in the menu that they are with different types of alcohol, at least 2. The food was okay, nothing special, a bit pricey compared with quality.

04/04/2024: The place is beautiful. The castle on the outside is very beautiful, inside it doesn't have much but the atmosphere is very cool. Around the castle is the town where people dress like the period and they explain things to you. There are also shops and cafes. Worth. There is parking. Tickets can be purchased in advance or there. Worth

03/04/2024: Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. You will enjoy a lot of this castle and park. There are plenty of curiosities both in the castle itself and in the park nearby. Go up the narrow stairs of the castle towers, feel the atmosphere of the main hall, and look at the rooms of the different status of the castle residents. And see how farmers, fishermen, blacksmiths, and other people of that time lived. The old houses are still heated by park staff in the same way as in ancient times. The entrance costs 10 euros. Large parking lot. Enjoy!

29/03/2024: We had a great dinner at Oar (and stay). The rooms were fairly basic, but we were blown away by the dinner. Everything from start to finish was great. The dessert was our favorite. It was my husbands birthday and they even gave us complimentary glass of Prosecco. Highly recommend booking dinner here!

26/03/2024: The rooms are nice but no breakfast possible (pub 2 minutes walk), 40 minutes walk from the ferry, so a little restrictive with luggage and rooms upstairs but no ramp for suitcases. Regarding the restaurant, we had an exceptional dinner, worthy of the best restaurants. The service is a little slow but friendly and the quality of the wine and food is there. A must in the region!

02/01/2024: Shadow of its former self. Main course was good but significantly below where food was under the last owner. Desserts both the brownie and sticky toffee tasted of preservatives, mass produced and bought in. Service isn't really service, it's more waitresses dumping food at your table. Not my first time to be disappointed here.

02/04/2024: Warm and friendly greeting was just the beginning of an enjoyable dinner. We enjoyed the fish chowder, lamb shank, steak, chicken and Irish stew with veggies and mashed potatoes. (Plus a couple of pints) we also indulged in dessert which was also delicious. The allergen list was clear and easy to follow and the server asked the kitchen about the special for us. Casual environment for a meal plus there’s a bar in the.front room if you want to have a seat there but the town has several pubs for that so spread the love around.

16/12/2023: Love this place and my 1st choice if I'm going for a pint. Its big but is split into different sections depending on what you want. Its suited for any occasion: 2 pints on a Sunday, live music on a Friday evening with your partner, plenty of tvs in front bar for any sport, all night session, 2 separate rooms that you can book for parties with lots of finger food. Damien and Catherine have done a great job and are always there to greet people and keep the place to top standards.

08/10/2023: A family run Irish hotel that offers such nice and comfortable rooms. The quality of the interior, beds and bathrooms are way above average - definitely more like at 4+ star hotel. The breakfast is also very tasty and well presented. One thing I would have liked to see is that you can choose more than one breakfast option for example irish breakfast with french toast. Very friendly staff that will look after you.

30/03/2024: Food wasn't great, I had the burger and it litterally didn't taste of anything. My wife had the Ham and said it was very salty and she didn't enjoy it. The elder lady who looked to run the place wasn't very friendly and was very short with her staff and we didn't like that at all.

28/03/2024: Great pub and restaurant for the weary and hungry. Miss Kat had what she proclaimed as the "best burger I've had in years," and we're from Texas so we know our beef! There's just something special about that secret sauce they put on their burgers...ya gotta try it! Mary and Christina provide first-class service while the kitchen cranks out great food! Highly recommended and we will definitely be back!

30/01/2024: Bar is in departure lounge. It's fine for what it is. Staff are hit and miss. Some nice ones some not. Food is Good, Finding a table can be tough at times. Bar is well stocked everything you would need. Breakfast is Good a little pricey but it is the airport.
