03/12/2024: I had a huge succulent burger. Sticky toffee pudding. The chicken burger is excellent too. Creme brule is creamy and crunchy. House Merlot is very good.

23/03/2025: Absolute dump dried out food at ridiculous prices 4 staff completely incompetent and less patrons. Does the licensing laws not stop alcohol being served on a Sunday prior to 12.30?

12/03/2025: Oar will forever hold a special place in my heart. I marked a milestone birthday here in the company of family and dear friends. It was a magical evening. Kieran and Roxy took such good care of us. Everyone simply relaxed and enjoyed the incredible meal complete with little treats of oysters and sorbet along the way. Thank you to the team for making this such a wonderful way to celebrate.

04/03/2025: Stayed there 1 night. Great room, slept like a stone. The owner was very helpful and service oriented. Was there on a Monday so unfortunately didn’t get to try the restaurant.

01/02/2025: Visited McHughs today for some lunch. We all ordered Bangers and Mash. Absolutely delicious. Tasty and plentiful. Two of us had sticky toffee pudding for dessert and one had apple pie. All were absolutely scrumptious. It was such a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere in McHughs and the lady who served us was friendly and not intrusive. We will definitely be back here again. A very big thumbs up from me!!

08/03/2025: There was a party of six we had such an enjoyable experience from start to finish from the food witch was exceptional and the customer service was outstanding due to the outstanding care and attention we got from Mary she checked on us quite a few times to see if everything was ok we cant wait to return

23/02/2025: Cogan' s was recommended by the bar man in O'Loughlins. He was spot on. A warm welcome, good choice on menu. Food was good and priced fairly. We will be back when we visit Co. Clare again

14/12/2024: This restaurant was our choice of place for a retirement party on a cold December evening recently. As we entered the premises we were met by a roaring fire and greeted warmly by Tony and waitress Claire. The food was delicious and caters for special dietary requirements if necessary. The portions were very generous and great value for money. The service was attentive and there was no long delays between courses. I highly recommend Cogan's Bar to anyone looking for a quality meal in a relaxing cosy atmosphere.

28/02/2025: Comimos aquí dos veces. Una vez en persona y otra con servicio de habitaciones. Primero cenando. El restaurante es absolutamente hermoso. Cada persona que trabaja aquí es profesional, pero también amable y una alegría para hablar. Nos hicieron sentir tan especiales y también como si fuéramos amigos. Como nota complementaria rápida, en el bar, el joven que trabaja allí también es una joya. Dromoland Castle es una suerte tener un personal tan encantador. Para nuestra comida, nos trajeron pan y mantequilla. Se sirve frío. Preferimos el pan caliente, pero el pan frío era lo normal en los restaurantes que visitábamos. Para empezar tuvimos el tartar de atún y la sopa Tom, se nos olvidó todo el nombre. Ambos eran tan buenos. El atún sabía fresco y la sopa estaba caliente y muy bueno. Para la red, pedimos el filete de angus y la olla pollo asado. El filete era tierno y sabroso. El pollo servido no era lo que figuraba en el menú. En el menú no hay menciones de setas o pasta y se enumera como una comida sin gluten. Lo que se sacó fue pollo con pasta y hongos. No dije nada, solo aparté la pasta y los hongos del pollo, comiendo solo la carne. El pollo estaba perfectamente cocinado y era bueno. Para el postre, pedimos el helado de vainilla y sorbete, delicioso y ligero. La noche siguiente pedimos servicio de habitaciones. Intentamos pedir el filete de nuevo, pero nos dijeron que no estaba en el menú. Así que pedimos el tartar de atún (de nuevo) y la costilla corta de angus negro. Los caballeros que trajeron nuestra comida lo preparó tan agradable y de nuevo fueron geniales. El atún estaba tan bueno como la noche anterior. Las costillas cortas estaban tiernas, pero mi marido prefería el filete de la noche anterior, solo su gusto personal. En conjunto, este es un restaurante maravilloso con buena comida y gente encantadora.

My partner loved his crab gnocchi, venison and pecan dessert ✨ Amuse bouche and complimentary sweet treats to top it all off! On top of a lovely rose and chocolates as a Valentine’s Day treat 💘 Thanks so much to Ian, Eric, Lily and the whole team for taking care of us from start to finish! Also absolutely beautiful harp playing 🎼 I loved it and highly recommend for your special occasions

20/02/2025: Fantastic Food, A1 service! Not the first time and not the last either!

20/02/2025: Such a charming hotel in the cutest little town. The decor pulls you in right away and has you asking questions about where you are laying your head. Once you find out, it makes your stay just a tab bit more relaxing. The staff were awesome, plus helpful with whatever questions or needs we needed, because we had a lot. Once I arrived in my room I was drawn to one of the softest beds I’ve ever slept in. Needless to say, I enjoyed my stay at the Temple Gate.

23/01/2025: Went for a super lovely birthday meal this evening. The starters & mains were all outstanding, along with the service. Would really recommend. We will be back.

07/12/2024: Attended an Xmas Party here for the 2nd yr running, and yet again the food, drink, service and general atmosphere was second to none.

31/01/2025: Service was a letdown .I had to push hard for a table in the pub as we were not happy being offered a table in what I would describe as the annex when there where plenty of empty tables at that time. Food was fresh and tasty, albeit slightly overpriced. Portion of Cod was very small but turned ok for my friend. Might not be enough for a man size portion.

10/01/2025: Walked in after a 7 mile row from Kilrush in cold weather,made very welcome,food and service was fantastic,i really couldn't rate this West Clare gem highly enough
