Il Padrino
Cork
05/09/2025: I visited Il Padrino for dinner as a group of four people.
I would recommend reserving a table. The restaurant fills up with diners very quickly after 6pm.
There is a great variety of dishes to choose from. We ordered Arancini, or deep fried rice balls, and garlic bread for starters. Both were delicious, though we would have welcomed more than two rice balls on the plate.
For the main course, everybody ordered something different: risotto, tagliatelle, chips. We all enjoyed our meals. I had tagliatelle with chicken and mushroom sauce, "Tagliatelle al Pollo", which was exceptional and the garlic bread accompanying the dish was nice.
The staff were all friendly and very quick to fulfill our requests for extra water and sharing plates.
One nice improvement to the menu would be the addition of photos of most or all dishes on the menu. It makes it easier for people unfamiliar with Italian dishes to understand what is on offer.
I would recommend Il Padrino to anyone looking to eat out at an Italian restaurant in the heart of Cork City.
19/08/2025: Very good, the food is very good, the portions are very large, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming. There are various prices, we ordered a risotto and a pasta dish, they are served with garlic bread, the quantities are abundant and about €20 each dish.

Wood Fire Cafe
Dublin
05/09/2025: I had high hopes for Wood Fire Café, especially with the promise of wood-fired pizza, but sadly, this visit was far from impressive.
Let’s start with the service - it was shockingly poor. After being seated, we waited for over 10 minutes without so much as a menu, bread, or drinks. When we asked about the bread and olives that were served to other tables, the manager stepped in, dismissing us completely. He curtly told us it wasn’t part of the service, despite it being offered to everyone else. We asked to order it, but it never arrived. There’s no excuse for that kind of disregard for customers.
As Ashley Chow put it in her review: “The worst place I have ever been. Not recommended. Very dirty, and the middle-aged man who is working there is very unprofessional. He was very rude to the staff and yelling at them. So disappointed with this place.”
This manager’s behavior was not only rude but also incredibly unprofessional. He was seen yelling at the staff, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone.
As for the pizza - it was a letdown. A wood-fired pizza should have a crisp, slightly charred crust, with toppings that sing in harmony. But this was soggy, cold, and lacked the depth of flavor you’d expect. The dough wasn’t properly cooked, and the cheese? Barely a whisper. It was more like a sad pile of ingredients than anything close to a pizza.
Throughout the meal, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were unwelcome. The manager made us feel like a burden, and even the server seemed uneasy, likely because of his treatment. It’s clear this café has some serious issues when it comes to customer care.
Wood Fire Café has potential, but with poor service, an unprofessional manager, and subpar food, it’s a hard one to recommend. Hopefully, they take a long, hard look at their approach and turn things around.
27/08/2025: Everything inside restaurant is great. However I'm a rough neighborhood. I suggest if with kids that you eat inside.

Bocelli
Cork
12/09/2025: Excellent food which was very reasonably priced for lunch. Dessert and cocktails were great too. Waitress was particularly nice and helpful. Would highly recommend.
10/09/2025: Most of the food is gorgeous, with the exception of the pizza as it feels very goodfellas frozen vibe. Regretted not going for a pasta dish.

DiFontaine's Pizzeria

15/08/2025: I found the price of the pizza a bit high, and the service wasn’t very good, and the facilities are not very suitable for dining in.
13/08/2025: Nice pizza, bit of a hard base.

Wallace's Taverna
Dublin
08/09/2025: Highly recommend visiting Wallace’s in the city centre in Dublin. I have been going for years, it’s still really good food, very friendly staff and great location. Not too much vegan options but recommend the Bruschetta and Birra Ichnusa if you’re looking for a tasty snack and beer! Go check it out.
20/08/2025: A little out of the way from the hustle and bustle of the city center (just across the quay!), a great Italian restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive!

Fifty50
Ashbourne
16/08/2025: We went to 50 Fifty for a birthday celebration. The staff were friendly and efficient. It was 6pm and we hadn't booked in advance, the restaurant wasn't busy as it was 6pm midweek. We ordered from the early bird menu which is available till 6:30pm. It was €26.95 for 2 courses or €30.95 for 3 courses. The atmosphere was good the restaurant was at about 1/3 capacity. For starters we ordered wings, fried brie and calamari (which was overcooked) For the mains we ordered Fish & Chips, 50 Fifty Burger, Pollo Funghetto and Carbonara (I don't recommend this dish)
For dessert we ordered Brownies (really good) and White Chocolate & Strawberry Cheesecake (couldn't taste the chocolate or strawberries)
We had beers & cider with our food. As we were celebrating a birthday, I asked for a candle in the brownie, which didn't arrive with dessert but a plate arrived during dessert with a candle in a scoop of ice-cream and a complimentary cocktail (nice touch) and the staff sang happy birthday.
I recommend 50 Fifty.
04/08/2025: Good food, pleasant atmosphere.

Pacino's
Dublin
18/08/2025: The restaurant is very good, I go about twice a month, the prices are not that high and the food is delicious. It was 50 euros for two pizzas, a glass of wine and an appetizer. The appetizer was perfect for two people.
18/08/2025: Very good value for money. The food (we ordered 1 pizza Algio Olio, 1 Margherita, 1 Diavolo, and 1 glass of wine) was very good, and the server was very friendly. The starter was quite large and perfectly sufficient for two people. We paid 50 euros, including tips. Highly recommended.

02/06/2025: Had a wonderful experience dining here yesterday. Staff were very pleasant and food was fantastic. Can't wait to return!!
02/06/2025: Lovely spot and service was fantastic, yet food let us down. Kids' meals were tasteless, though I have to say chips were beautiful. Big menu, but we all ordered different things, and they all lacked in flavour.

Emilia's
Enniskerry
30/07/2025: Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. I've rarely seen such a discrepancy between Google reviews and reality. Significantly below average: the pizza was far too greasy and loaded with tons of cheese. The pasta dish was also too greasy and lacking in refinement.
14/07/2025: Great restaurant owned and run by an Italian family. Great food, relaxed atmosphere.

Caman Inn
Delvin
05/09/2025: We stopped here on our way to Carlingford because we wanted to watch an Arsenal football game. They don’t have sky but we decided to forego the game and order food. We ordered the Super burger. It’s a chef special. This HUGE plate of food came out. A burger with homemade onion rings layered on top with homemade fries. Luckily we were splitting the burger because it had to be an 6lb beautiful piece of beef. The usual toppings, including a specular tasting type of saucy jam.
The burger was a full on chunk of the most flavorful beef that was perfectly cooked. Now I usually like my burger medium rare because overcooking takes from the taste. This burger was so soft and tender and it’s the best burger we’ve ever eaten.
The staff were very friendly and we thanked the chef on the way out.
30/08/2025: Great food and pleasant service.
