The best restaurants in Mayo

05/02/2026: Probably one of the best burgers and pizzas we've had. Those guys know what they are doing absolutely fantastic place

31/01/2026: The Woodfire is a great place to eat and dine, if you have a hankering for Pizza. Wifey and Hubby went with a couple of friends. And all were happy and full with the menu. Wifey and Hubby Haven't been back for at least 6 odd years. Back then the menu range was bigger and more diverse. Now they are more selective, specialising in pizzas. A decent meal option, which they do very well. Hubby was silly, opting not to pizza, in a place that specializes in oven pizzas. Everyone else did, hubby went with the lamb burger, which was great, but was something he did regret. I like Pizza, I prefer a deep pan style myself, here they prefer the thin crust. but the question hubby asked himself was would I order it for dinner? Still Wifey had the pineapple one, which I had a few slices of. Regardless of the pineapple topping, I cannot fault it in the slightest. The only disappointment with the menu was the lack of desserts or even coffees at the end. We all left full and not wanting more, but I wish there was something available to end the meal. Side note, the chips are good too. Hand cut and homemade. A small decent high quality portion. Either way a great place to eat pizza and wine. Or in Hubby's case IPA, definitely recommend...

18/03/2026: I went for dinner for my birthday and had a wonderful time. We had the 3 course set menu for €44 each and it was delicious. Very good quality produce, seasonal and fresh. The staff was lovely and the atmosphere is nice and refined. I'd definitely recommend!

11/04/2026: Our small wedding at The Tavern was nothing short of perfection. I’d recommend this venue to anyone seeking an elevated tavern experience in an incredible, scenic location in the west of Ireland. Our guests still rave to us about the food! The lamb, the sea bass, the stuffed chicken, the pistachio cheesecake, and everything that graced our table was flawless. Several guests told us it was the best wedding meal they had ever had! I recommend requesting the olive tapenade. The manager was an absolute dream to work with and essentially worked as our wedding coordinator for the day. She went above and beyond in every way, from decorating the room (we hadn’t planned on adding anything!) to coordinating our band. I didn’t doubt for a moment that she’d take care of everything. We opted to have our meal in the upstairs dining room (perfect for a party of 40–50 people) and our band in the pub downstairs after dinner. This was perfect for us, as it allowed for a seamless transition from dinner to music and dancing. Our guests were able to relax at the bar or a table right next to the dancing area, which allowed for dancers or mingle-at-table types to effortlessly interact with one another—something that’s often missed at other weddings! And if you’re looking for an impressive view, you can’t get much better than the drive out to The Tavern. Croagh Patrick towers above Clew Bay, providing plenty of photo opportunities en route to the venue. At the restaurant itself, there’s a lovely outdoor seating area with views of the bay, and the interiors are a lovely mix of dark woods with light walls—pub-style, but bright enough for your wedding day! And a pink pub? Can you get any cuter than that? Overall it was a 10/10 experience and our dream wedding day. Our only regret is we can’t do it all again.

20/03/2026: It's rare I write reviews but I had to on this occasion given how amazing everything was there last night at the house of plates. Went to house of plates last night for my birthday for a 3 course meal and I cannot praise the food and service enough. 10/10 experience. The food and flavours were sensational just mouth watering. The service was amazing and professional and friendly and there were no time delays with any of the dishes. Also loved the little complimentary starters that were given before our own starters came such as the bread with the beautiful oil and balsamic vinegar. Also the presentation of each dish was beautiful and thoughtfully put together. Thanks for an amazing experience we will be back <3 Páraic and Laura

28/02/2026: The owner of the restaurant is extremely kind and humble. We LOVED the food and would highly recommend this place to all Westport visitors. This was authentic Italian with the owner from Sicily and his head chef from Roma. We ordered the carbonara and seafood ravioli, a bottle of wine, 2 affogatos and aperitifs. All delicious and extremely well priced. Thank you! You could give our nonna a run for her money 😂
