The best restaurants in Mayo

30/09/2025: We didn't get to eat here. Looking for a walk in at 9.25 just to get a pizza. Were told they were no longer serving despite not closing until 10 and plenty of empty tables. They suggested to get a pizza to take away but we needed somewhere to sit in. Totally their perogative, but they need to specify last orders/seating time somewhere for clarity. Got sorted elsewhere also closing at 10.

24/10/2025: A must visit when your in Ballina. After a long drive from south Kilkenny we said we will pop in here for a quick pint before checking in to the hotel. They Guinness and Murhys was so go we ended up here for 3hrs . Great Atmosphere great staff and friendly locals. 100% will be back here again.

19/10/2025: Thanks to everyone at Quay West for a fab evening when 9 of us celebrated our brother's BD. Welcome was warm & friendly. Food was v v good across all different chosen dishes between starters/main courses along with BD plate and sparkly BD candle. Service was excellent from all waiting staff who made our evening very special. We were all very well looked after throughout our meal. Much appreciated. Already looking to our next visit. Thanks again!

28/06/2025: Proper local bar, the sort of place that died out in the UK in the 1980s. The din from endless conversations was like an old friend, the Guinness was superb, the service and the locals were friendly and welcoming. Go there, go there now 🇮🇪

20/09/2025: A warm welcome, we immediately felt at home. The restaurant is clean and cozy, the food was delicious, and the value for money was good.

13/10/2025: The place is super organized and clean, the staff are polite and the food is wonderful.

11/10/2025: Was really disappointed with the service in danollas, as a returning customer and not having any problems before this 3 of us went in and ordered food, 2 of us were served, 1 meal correct and 1 meal missing chips, third meal did not arrive to table at all, we had to go to counter and ask where it was a half an hour after ordering, the staff were quite rude and eventually got the 3rd meal when everyone was finished. Disappointed is an under statement as this is the first review I have ever left 😣

03/10/2025: We stopped here on our last night in Ireland after a week of exploring the country. I’d honestly say, this is the best service we have received out of any restaurant we visited and the food was top notch. Great vibe inside and plenty of drinks and beers to choose from. Highly recommend!

11/10/2025: We wanted to have seafood while in Mayo but were worried about gluten free options. Talbots had a seperate menu for celiac/gluten free food and thr staff was very understanding. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I got food prepared as I liked while my husband got regular food. We got the seafood chowder with gluten free bread, the seafood platter (gluten free except we opted to have the battered cod on a seperate plate bc my husband wanted fried fish with the gluten batter). We also had the gluten free brownie, which came with ice cream. The food was beyond good and the brownie was warm and soft, not dry like a lot of gluten free things can be. I highly recomend coming here whether ur celiac or not. But if you are gluten intolerant rest assured you can eat here safely while enjoying your meal!

05/09/2025: Great food but it takes 20-30 mins for a waiter to come by the table for anything

11/10/2025: Stopped in out of the blue, the waiter found a table for us, even though it was busy and gave us great service. This was matched by the food, which was fabulous, we had the lamb and beef, which was some of the best on our Irish trip.

07/07/2025: Was staying in Ballinrobe and fancied and Indian. Went by reviews on here and Google and said we would chance dining-in. I'm glad we did! Fairly certain they are used to take away business as service was a bit chaotic but the food surpassed all expectations. Food was very tasty - can't go wrong with butter chicken and pilau rice! It was also very reasonable. Would definitely recommend!

27/09/2025: My husband and I enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal at Cullens, previously Cong’s theatee v The menu offered many delicious items to choose from. The onion soup was absolutely delightful, perfect balance of other vegetables along with the onions, which were the highlight. My husband enjoyed every bite of the duck conft salad. For the entrée, I enjoyed a very rich and tasty shrimp and lobster risotto. Scott was wowed by the sole which was deboned at our table. The servers were very friendly and shared the history of this venue. !Chapeau! Hats off to the chef! And staff.

17/09/2025: We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Marianna (hopefully I spelled that correctly) was amazing. She was our waitress and she made the best drinks + great conversation. I had the pasta with clams and mussels- amazing. My wife had the chkn. Everything was great, excellent and we had a great time. Dessert and the Irish coffee was excellent as well. Highly recommended. We stayed at the lodge.

18/09/2025: Wonderful cafe, both the lady and gent were very friendly and helpful. Had one of the specials, massive portion and very reasonably priced. Would recommend.
