The best restaurants in Mayo

24/01/2025: Ate here twice midweek during a January break. Excellent food and very pleasant service. It was quiet but that was to be expected midweek in winter. Would definitely return.

15/02/2025: Castlebar isn’t the most fashionable of places in Mayo in comparison to Westport etc but this is the best Italian restaurant you will come across.

15/02/2025: This was the best meal I have ever had!!! I had the Italian mixed grill and a forest fruits cheese cake for dessert. I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in London and Birmingham and they were not a patch on Al Muretto. Would eat there Seven nights a week!

02/03/2025: We visited here at the end of January for a family meal and though it was a regular place to visit for a meal we will NEVER return It was busy enough so we were sat at a table in a part slightly off the main part We ordered roast beef, fish, wings and carbonara The beef was literally the worst I have ever had , there was 2 thick slices that were so hard to cut through and impossible to eat, the mash was barely warm The fish smelled disgusting and absolutely not fresh, far from it The wings werent hot and the carbonara was not good Nobody che ked in with us to see how our meal was, I didn’t get a chance to say how bad the food was as when I went to pay the waitress was busy chatting I messaged them on Facebook that evening as I felt the almost €90 we paid for the meal was a complete waste of money What I assume was the manager replied to say she would look into it but never got back to me, I sent another 2 messages which were both ignored so that tells me just how little disregard is given for customers

01/01/2025: 19th century rural villa located in the middle of the countryside with a decadent charm. Very welcoming and characteristic. Very helpful and friendly restaurant staff with adequate prices. The only discordant note was the room temperature, which was not independently adjustable, and despite the continuous operation of the radiator it never exceeded 18 degrees.

25/09/2024: A cute little bakery with delicious home-baked delicacies. We ordered apple pie and a chocolate cake. Both were super tasty. For our way home we took a chocolate cookie with us, which was also incredibly tasty. Mary is very nice, a warm welcome as soon as you enter the shop. Clear recommendation to anyone visiting Ballycastle.

19/02/2025: The food was exceptionally fantastic, and 4 of us polished off both our dinner( beef burger, goat cheese burger, 1 pepperoni pizza & chicken maryland) & dessert. Every bite was blissful. The number 1 pick was the banana ice cream. The staff were amazing, very helpful, and have great personalities & the price was very reasonable

22/11/2024: I really want to keep this under the radar. So it's fantastic coffee and treats are not for you. The friendly helpful staff are just too nice. And don't have their sausages rolls. Otherwise, there won't be any for me. So just don't go there back up and try the circle k up the road.

15/02/2025: One of my favourite places to eat. Good food and atmosphere without being over-stated. Best to arrive a bit early as the line can go out the door and down the street during busy times, still it's well worth the wait to get a table at The Junction.
