30/11/2025: Lovely pub. Warm atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food served with a fantastic pint of Guinness.

26/10/2025: The staff are lovely. The pints are good. The atmosphere and banter with the locals was spot on. The food was okay but a little overpriced and the quality & portions could be improved on. I had the mussels, potato skins and chicken wings. All good except that the 1 potato skin I received was a poor size portion for the price. My wife had the chicken curry but the flavour was seriously lacking and it was "McDonnell's" curry sauce out of a packet. Any chef worth their salt should be whipping up a batch curry from scratch. If they can't do that, they shouldn't be in the kitchen. Get rid! I was happy enough but not full so unfortunately it was not value for money.

23/10/2025: We ate there last night. I couldn't recommend highly enough. We were a party of 3, we had the 1 Anthony Heffernan Medallion beef, 2. Butter Fried Wild Atlantic Sea Bream Served with Chervil, a Sunflower Seed Orzo, Courgette Ribbons, Green Grapes and a serving of Goatsbridge Trout Caviar Sauce 3. The tastiest lentil nutloaf ive ever tasted.💗👏 Portions sized were perfect. Lovely touch to get the fabulous homemade breads and Houmous tasters while waiting. Also great to see local craft beer on offer.

09/10/2025: I went to the poachers the other day and I must say it was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, I ordered the filet mignon and I asked for it to be medium rare which they cooked it perfectly, for desert I ordered the vanilla passionfruit cheesecake which was delicious. Highly recommended this to anyone that is thinking of going to the poachers

28/10/2025: The food was really good and they were incredibly sweet to us. The owner, she was incredibly kind to us and to us and we had some nice chats. The cakes and tea there are also really good. They've a really cool seating area and some interesting stuff for sale as well. There are very few Korean restaurants around so I strongly recommend supporting this place! My wife is from Vietnam where they have a lot of Korean food and she really enjoyed it as well

24/10/2025: Got too excited and forgot to take a photo of the food again. Everything we ordered was absolutely gorgeous. The food is fresh and full of flavour, desserts are next level, and the staff are always so lovely and professional!

23/12/2025: Much more than a 3 star. Extremely friend staff, from the reception to the breakfast staff to housekeeping. Incredible food, highly recommend JW lounge menu. Lots of options for coeliacs at breakfast including scones! Could not have picked a better spot to enjoy the town. Best location

Update after another trip to Ireland: I ate there three times. Each time it was a highlight. The food is so incredibly delicious. The service was still excellent and friendly 👍

25/09/2025: Hiney's has always been a fantastic pub with great food and beverage and our recent visit was enjoyed by all. We arrived there at the end of a 65km walk in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation and we couldn't confirm a booking in advance as it seemed to be touch and go with how late we might arrive. Thankfully with some last minute running we made it before the kitchen closed. All super and had a lovely time with a well earned pint and some delicious food.

08/11/2025: I was visiting Castlebar from the US and Mick could not have been more welcoming. I also ended up stopping in during the day to ask for directions and a different barman was also extremely hospitable. It's a very positive feel here, not to mention a top notch pint of Guinness. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

28/10/2025: A great range of 'hot' barrista coffees and snacks. The Clonakilty sausage rolls which are made with black pudding are very indulgent and definitely worth a try. Always a friendly service with adequate parking & amenities..!!! ❤👍

02/11/2025: This is an eye opener in Eco and Agri Tourism as we witnessed how they harvest Peat land and how they contribute to the entire Eco system with dedicated hard work. We met Jim, son and daughter, Mr An Neantog and his loyal sheep dog Jane, but the co- owner Jim's wife Catherine was away in Shanghai whom an Eco/ Agri Tourism Award recipient. Had lunch, freshly baked scones and their own Irish Coffee with whiskey and cream served by wonderful, friendly staff with a smile on face always. How Mr An Neantog harvesting the peat was amazing with careful consideration of the future generations. His loyal sheep dog Jane is always by his side for the command. We were very fortunate with the weather to see how Jane was rounding up sheep and keep them on their toes for Jane's next reaction. This is a huge 1600-acre farm plus another over 5000-acre common land adjoining the farm. We respect their dedication towards our Nature and Eco Habitat.

10/10/2025: This was my favorite experience in Ireland. The farm was so warm & inviting. We enjoyed a wonderfully informative & entertaining sheep dog herding demonstration, got lots of pets in w/ the pups when they weren't working and enjoyed a delicious intimate dinner in a beautiful candle lit setting w/ live music. I would go out of my way to come back here again.
